Lookout Cay long pier.

Just got back from Magic cruise on July 20. We saw ZERO flies during lunch. Also no fights or mad scambles for chairs by the water. We were off the ship around 8:30(we all wake up early, even on vacation) I have a bad knee and the pier walk wasn't as difficult for me as I had thought it might be. I probably could have gotten on one of the many golf carts, but didn't want to. I wasn't paying attention to the time when we got to the beach, probably a little before 9am. There were still chairs around us for a good 30-45 mins. We had front row chairs by the water. People who waited until 10:30 to get there probably couldn't get them where we were. There were a lot more chairs by the water than what it looked like in the early vlogs I saw. The sand is so incredibly soft and the water was wonderful. My teen didn't miss not having a teen club or tubes/floats like she thought pre-cruise. We didn't go to other areas like the Splash pad. The beach was so nice I didn't want to leave. We've been to CC 8 times and love it, I prefer LP over CC. Before the cruise I didn't think I would even like it, now I can't wait to go back.
Thank you for sharing.
I’m curious how it is when there are 4000 passengers. CC is noticeably less crowded when arriving on the Magic or Wonder.

really appreciate you filing a first hand account, along with others, it is starting to paint a very different picture then the early doubters. It's why I try to keep an open mind until experiencing it myself.

Not sure I understand this comment. Magic and Wonder are much smaller with only about 2400 passangers. The Dream, Fantasy and Wish all have about 4000 passengers.

I think that's exactly the point -- does Lookout Cay feel more crowded with 4000 passengers vs 2400 passengers? Or was it built/designed with the larger ships in mind? CC was originally designed for the smaller ships and someone who has cruised both the Classic ships and Dream Class can tell the difference on CC. Hopefully LC was designed with the larger passenger capacity in mind so it doesn't feel as crowded.

Very true. Especially Serenity Bay which is noticeably crowded with the larger ships.

Thank you for elaborating. You explained my viewpoint much more clearly than I did.

I think it will make HUGE difference in some places. The beach area is so much larger than CC so it shouldn't feel as crowded as CC does on the larger ships. We didn't go to the Splash areas, the place where families can play games, or where they do the music/dance. Sorry I don't remember the names of each. We walked by the splash area a few times and it didn't look crowded. Never had long lines at the restrooms. I went to the gift shop around 1pm. There were probably around 50 people looking around there. Had to wait about 10 mins in line to pay, so there was a line, but it wasn't horrible. We went to lunch shortly after it opened and there was already a short line. The first eating area(there's 4 or 5 seating areas for each restaurant) was already full, but we easily found seats in the second one. As we were eating I noticed the lines were getting a lot longer and our eating area was full. Not sure how full the other ones were. This is where I think the larger ships will feel really crowded. I'm not sure how I like the new set up with the different food sections. At CC since you only have to go through one line it's easier, faster, and more convenient to get whatever you want. At LP I got the seafood rice bowl(yummy). I also wanted to get some ribs, but the line for that was really long. I ended up not going to any other sections because all my other food would have gotten cold. I also think having to go to the different areas is going to be a PITA for families with little kids. The trays aren't big enough to put 2 plates on and the drink and table areas seemed a lot further away from the food stations than on CC. I didn't go to the kid's club since my dd is a teen. But videos look like there's an eating place in it. If I had young kids who like the club, I would drop them off there for lunch. Otherwise you will be spending a lot of time in different lines(unless you all eat the exact same things)

Yeah. I’m going on the Fantasy and all ashore time at LC is 10:15am. I think the scramble for beach chairs is going to be way more intense than a 8:30am all ashore on the Magic …

This reminds me of a counter service restaurant in Tomorrowland in MK that has different offerings in Bay 1, Bay 2, & Bay 3. Maybe where Sonny Eclipse sings?
Of course between the 4 of us we wanted something from all 3 bays. Dh was not happy. Such a poor design to think everyone in a group eats the same thing. :rolleyes:

Anytime we eat at Cosmic Ray's we go to the different locations while one person goes to secure a table. I understand that it's not as easy to do if it's just to adults but the last few times we've been to Disney World we've had three or more adults with us. But I agree that this restaurant is very poorly laid out. I had thought I read somewhere that if you are in the chicken section and you want something from one of the other two sections that you could still order it from that section and they can get it for you. Unfortunately, there's not a menu in that location for the other two. So you would have to go to them and determine what you want and then go get in line at the third one.

Ahh, that's it! That is a nightmare to juggle with children unless they're old enough to secure a table.

Well realistically speaking, if they’re going to dock at a beautiful beach, most people will want a beach chair. I would guess at least half. Some will stay on the ship, some will do an excursion, some will do bike riding/nature trails/cultural education but none of those things take 8 hours. Eventually they’ll want to go to the beach, or maybe return to the ship. Maybe I’m delusional but I think most are there for the beautiful beach.
:beach::cloud9:
There should be plenty of beach chairs within 200’ of the water.
