Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Do the stair (metal) railings get really hot? …followed with

Can you get to the ocean without using stairs?
I didn’t touch the stair railings, mostly because I didn’t go down the beach that way. So yes you can get to the ocean and beach without using the stairs.

The boardwalk however gets VERY hot - I don’t recommend trying to walk it barefoot like I did.

We sail in October on a 4 night cruise aboard the Fantasy, kid free. We have debated about changing ships because the only time we get off is on the private island. (We prefer just to enjoy the ship and are not fans of Nassau). We were so excited to try Lighthouse Point; however, the one thing I want to do is sit in a chair with my feet in the water, read, and just enjoy the ocean. Are there actually chairs by the water to do this? It seems that all the chairs are before the dunes.

We will be on the Magic with a stop there at the end of August. My wife has recently had knee replacement surgery and has difficulty walking long distances. I understand there are golf carts that go from the ship to the tram stop for passengers with that kind of issue. Is this something you need to arrange in advance? Or just get off the ship and go over to the carts?

Thanks! I noticed no one in videos was touching the rails. Most likely, because they don’t have to.

Nice to hear ramps exist. Wonder if they have rails.

Can you guess what I depend on for going up and down? Rails! Love them in bathrooms with low toilets, too. 🤭

These pictures are from Elaine Edwards posted on the DCL Fan facebook page from the DIS. Rails on the ramp!

My understanding is you need to pre-arrange through Guest Services onboard.

Can you have your purchases from Disney Tings sent back to the ship to be picked up later so you don’t have to carry it around on the island?

I remember being able to do this on Castaway Cay. Is that still available there too?

Mags,
Do you feel it is realistic to do an excursion (i.e. Buggy tour), and still get to see all of Lighthouse Point? And would you know if they Platinum discount applies to Island merchandise?

TY!!

There is a row of chairs, loungers and umbrellas on the beach itself - there’s just more up behind the dunes. I can’t speak to the family beach area, but we were able to get chairs to sit on the waters edge over on the Serenity Bay section.

There’s no truly noticeable divide between the two beaches, however, aside from a gap in cheers and a lifeguard station, so if your goal is to be kid free, you might want to be further down the Serenity Bay beach. While cast members would eventually ask children to leave the serenity side if they got in the water, it wasn’t strongly enforced from what we saw.

The excursions leave you about 2-3 hours to see Lighthouse Point, which gives you a nice taste for it, but not really able to see all of it if you wanted to do the Junkanoo celebration, characters, arts & crafts, etc. it is enough time to walk the main area, grab lunch and enjoy the water for a little bit.

Shopping Discounts do not apply on the island.

Thank you so much for the response!!!!

Are the bike path and nature trail open now?
My understanding is that neither were open for the initial cruises.
We set sail on July 20th and would love to rent bikes and also walk the nature trail

Hey guys has anyone been on the Lookout Cay cruise as of late? I REALLY need to know about the flies- that is going to be a deal breaker to go there-just need enough time to budget to go on the Magic to the carribbean
