I love this room! It has a warm, cozy look to it that I think comes from the white trim with the red walls. Our living room has a darker look to it. The only white trim is at the bottom of the walls.
i do not like that gold color / you might redo that .
It's actually more of a brown than gold, but yeah, I agree. It isn't a favorite color of mine either.
Honestly, I'm not sure I would have choosen this particular house. I was on the other side of the country when my husband told me he had found a "beautiful house" for us. He loved the red walls. Me, not so much. He was right about everything else, though.

The house is located where we wanted to be. It is spacious, has a nicely landscaped backyard with a large, bricked patio, and all the other rooms are painted in shades of white, tan, and beige. I can learn to live with red walls in the living room for a year. And, I can always relocate to the family room when it gets to be too much.
I do want to furnish and decorate the living room so that it is warm and inviting looking. Many of you have mentioned bamboo, but I'm afraid that would give the room more of an Oriental look to it. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it just isn't the style I want.

I think we'll take a trip up to IKEA this weekend and browse around.
I think your key is your accent pieces. Pick neutral, functional furniture that will easily adapt.
Yes, I agree.

And, I'd love to see some pics of your furniture. I'm not very computer literate, so I can't help you with posting the pics. I use photobucket, if that is of any help to you.
