First of all, Lorrie and Tammie get your minds out of the gutter!
Cammie - so sorry I missed you!!! I'm so excited for you and hate that I can't meet up with you this trip!
We had the best day yesterday! We went to the Museum of Science and History downtown Jax yesterday. It's right on the river so we got our hands stamped, and left at lunchtime, walked the river a little, then ate at a microbrewery right on the river. Then went back to MOSH and caught the planetarium show - Ally loved this! And I learned so much about J'ville's history so I appreciate the city so much more.
I've always loved Charleston, SC, and Savannah, GA, for their wonderful history, civil war stories, beautiful architecture and charming B&Bs and homes. We love to spend weekends in both these cities. But we were so disappointed that J'ville has no architecture, and it's a great location for it. Downtown is on the ST Johns river which is one of only 2 rivers in North America to flow north, then of course we have the beach, too.
But at MOSH I learned a lot about the history - how FL was the only state to remain loyal to England during the revolutionary war, and how a lot of loyalists from other states moved here during the war, assuming that FL would be the favorite place after England won the war. Didn't happen that way, so FL was given back to the Spanish. It changed hands so much between the Spanish, French and English, until it finally joined the US. And the reason there are no beautiful buildings, is because the whole city virtually burned to the ground in 1901. 10 big hotels burned with it, plus all the homes, etc. If not for that fire, this city would be one of prettiest, along the lines of Charleston/Savannah, with it's location on the river, and the beach nearby. So sad.
More movies were filed in Jacksonville between 1913 and 1917 than in Los Angeles. And the very first technicolor film was made here.
There is your history lesson for the day.
Well, I'm starting to like my hair a bit more. Yesterday I put the diffuser on my dryer and scrunched my hair to get the messy look - it looked better and it was easy to do. Today I'm gonna try another color - maybe a little warmer than the ashy, dishwater color I used before.
AFter our trip into J'ville yesterday, Jeff suggested we fondue for dinner last night - Ally loves this and we only do it maybe once a year. So we made cheese fondue, then a boullion for shrimp and steak, then of course chocolate for dessert with pound cake, strawberries and bananas. So good! Jeff and I both worked at the Melting Pot many moons ago and we still remember how to make the fondues!
Oh, and for V'Day Jeff got me a stereo/cd/mp3 player for the golf cart!!!

I'm so excited for this! We love to zoom through the neighborhood in the evenings, so this will be more fun! I got Ally another webkinz and then Jeff gets her a DS game. And he says I spoil her!

He got a grill cover for the new grill outside. I should have given it to him on Friday cause it's been raining all weekend.
OK, I'm off now - need to pick up the house a bit.
