Hi Everyone! I hope that you have a great day! It's hump day! and downhill until the weekend!

We are seeing Hannah Montana 3-D Sunday, during the Superbowl. Since our beloved Cowboys aren't playing, I have no interest. (Like I would have an interest anyway...:rolleyes1 ) I thought it would be less crowded, but I may be mistaken!

:grouphug:
Pam2

Hannah Montana sounds like more fun to me! We usually have a Super Bowl party here - the girls gossip and scrapbook, with pauses to watch the commercials - this year we are just staying in - I think Lindsay and I will scrap. The weather is too bad for my oldest DS to make it over and back this weekend.

Hiya all,

just found "our" thread on page 2  thought I'd give it a bit of a bump....

I thought I'd give my view - I loathe peach , mind you I hate all the nondescript beigey stuff too - I like to have some character and personality showing.... the UK is following the trend, so everywhere is starting to look a bit "corporate dull" if you know what I mean. Sorry to you folks over there, but beige does remind me a bit of the old "stepford wives" thing..

Now I've probably insulted you all (sorry :flower3:) I shall go pick up the monsters from school - ready for piano lessons - yippeee, wooo I get to sit through 2 lots of twinkle twinkle little star played almost , but not quite, right.... sorry, they are progressing well, but there is a limit to how many nursery rhymes a mum wants to hear (twice);). Still, at least the teacher comes to the house...

Just read all of the above again - could anyone guess I get PMT?

Tessa

Tessa! We love you even if our walls are beige and yours are not! :lmao:

What colors do you have in your house? Our decorating trends are actually pretty varied, I think. Hope you had a great day, in spite of PMT! :thumbsup2

Hi Sewer, Pam, Jillian, Kara, Lisa, Debbie, Maureen, Keahi, Cammie - anyone I missed? Happy Wednesday!

We are buried with snow this year! Baseball practice starts in 2 weeks - DS, 22 is going to help coach - he says they will have to start indoors! We usually have the worst weather during baseball season. I used to sit in the stands in a sleeping bag to watch games! :rotfl: I am trying to find airfare for my trip to Atlanta in April, and our flight to MCO for our Sept cruise! I won't be buying until DHs coaching check comes in. Hope things are better by then - so far I'm frustrated by the prices for the good times. It seems you can either spend lots to get the times that work with the shuttle, or you can pay less and rent a car :confused3

Hiya

Tammie - thanks for "understanding the PMT" stuff!

Our house is kind of mainly terracotta and cream walls (ok close to beige - not quite...;)) with a heathery green colour carpet downstairs - and upstairs is pink for the girls room, soft green ours and mustardy-yellow and terracotta for the spare room/office/music room/store room (all one SMALL room). Bathroom - we only have one.... blue and white, the rest - kitchen hall etc white.

Kara - sounds like you have a LOT of decorating to do -do you fancy coming to do mine when you are done?? All of the above was done about 4 years ago and is starting to look a bit shabby to be honest.

Maybe next year...... this year the money is going on our big trip!!

My friend has a lovely cottage with all the cottagey sort of decor - I love it -small flowery print wallpaper, beams everywhere, flagstone kitchen floor - Aga range cooker, proper welsh dresser, nothing built in no cabinets just a big walk in pantry, BIG family kitchen table - I am very envious...

Anyhow, spending far too much time on here today,

Tessa

OK girls - a quick one - what on earth are Smores????? Been watching trashy cartoons with the kids and I'm afraid other than being some kind of foodstuff I can't work it out......

Cheers,
Tessa

Oh my goodness... they are food of the camping gods..s

Roast a marshmallow over an open fire, squish said marshmallow between graham crackers with a peice of chocolate tucked in there... wait long enough for the chocolate to melt a bit and gobble it up before someone else does.

Called smores because you always want Some-more

Now why'd ya have to go and mention s'mores???? I quit smoking 3 weeks ago (yea for me!) and I've been eating everything in sight!!! Figures we have graham crackers, chocolate AND marshmallows in the pantry!!!! Soooo good! I'm heading back to Jenny Craig (after a 6 month hiatus) so I can splurge for one more day!

Lost 22 pounds, only 8 away from my goal weight, and then gained 9 back during this whole move. Stupid Florida! I'll just blame the whole state for that!

I'm supposed to be working today (I work from home) but I'm too busy planning our trip in May. I'm working on index cards today - I've got all the park hours and events schedule (EMH, parade info, etc), and now I'm working on my phone# card. I've got all the restaurants, the resort, my neighbors, the kennel, doctors here and in Orlando, what am I missing??? Yes, I know it's 3 months away but I love the planning part so much!!!

Oh, time for DD to be getting off the bus, better watch for her!

Wait! Did I mention that Hannah Montana is in town tonight and we did NOT get tickets? DD7 will not even let me turn on the radio cause she's so bummed we're not going! Lucky for her she's grounded from TV all week anyway, so she doesn't have to see it on there, too!

As for the beige walls, I agree that it is kinda corporate - never looked at it like that before. I like the darker taupy kind of mocha brown. With lots of deep red and chocolate brown. Makes me feel all cozy. But noooooo! DH wants "refreshing." What's up with men suddenly changing styles???

OMG! I'm watching my daughter "flirt" with the boy next door as they walk home from the bus! What is up with that???? IT's bad enough that she just decided in the past couple of months that she doesn't wear dresses anymore. She went from very girly to very tomboy overnight! I miss my little princess!

SilverMickey – You made me hungry! popcorn:: Good description!

WOW Tessa!:scared: Just kidding. :lmao: You should have heard me night before last, barking at DH on my way home from work, then again when I got home. He barked back - LOUDLY, then slammed his cell phone on the counter. :furious: I secretly hoped that it had broken! I think I took the stress of last week out on him in one hour and it wasn't pretty! I TOTALLY understand PMT! (Except we call it PMS, S for Syndrome. What is the T stand for, if you can type it? ) All's good now. You need to try the s’mores w/peanut butter spread on the graham cracker. Yummm….They are so much better cooked over an open fire, but we sometimes make them in the microwave.

We are guilty of having the plain beige walls:eek: , and ones that haven't been painted for the almost 14 years we've been in the house:eek:  ! That's terrible, but I hate painting, and even hiring someone to paint. It's disrupting to me! I also don't like spending a lot of money on it. The walls aren't bad though - I have constantly been telling my kids to keep their hands off the walls! for their entire lives. I am sure they'll be scarred for life. :upsidedow I have also turned into my dad, one who constantly told us to turn off the lights, and other things that weren’t being used. I pay the bills and DH and DD’s have no concept and leave a room and everything in it on when they do! Uggh!:headache:

Kara – Yeah for you on the weight! :cheer2: Don’t be so hard on yourself! (Have you tried the s’mores w/peanut butter spread on the graham crackers? Sorry. Dessert is my weakness.) Have fun planning! It's hard to watch the DD's change and grow up. Oh, the hormones in our house! DD14 gets PMS/PMT. Just wait until DD10 does! My poor DH.:rotfl2: :lmao:

Tammie – You are such a dedicated sports mom!:thumbsup2:Brrr...

Forget the graham crackers; we take a marshmallow, dip into melted dark or white chocolate, then roll in sprinkles, nuts, choc. chips or whatever! Put them in the fridge for 1/2 hour until the chocolate hardens - YUMMY!
(had these at Goofy's Candy Co. in DTD - it's the one food from Disney I can re-create at home!:lmao: )

Just stopping by to say hello. It has been a crazy week our dryer broke just as we paid for Disney( got a 20%code ) CBR here we come. LO is teething  and learned how to cruise and climb the stairs. Let's just say I thought I was busy before HA! what was I thinking? :confused3

I have to catch up. It will have to wait until tomorrow I am exhausted.

Thanks for stopping by, Debbie! It was really fun talking with you, and thanks for your order! I will be calling to be sure everything is okay! :thumbsup2
Guess what? Some of the plane tickets I was looking at for Sept go through Chicago for a 2 hr layover! We'll see if they are still there when we get ready to book. We have to coordinate with DS, 24. DH says that I will have to leave security to see you - guess that makes him nervous :confused3
I imagine it can be done.

Hiya girls -

OK, i kind of get the smores thing - melted marshmallow (mmmmm), chocolate - but another culture divide I'm afraid, what are graham crackers??
(we get golden graham breakfast cereal - disgustingly sweet non-nutritious stuff that of course kids love... is it something similar but bigger??)

Cammie - we do the marshmallows rolled in melted chocolate and sprinkles too!! Put em on a wood ice lollipop stick and in the fridge for half an hour and one of the kids fave treats - especially when painted in "pixie dust" (edible gold glitter for cake decoration).

Kara - well done you on the weight thing - I am trying -and getting there, but it is sooo hard....

Pam2 - PMT - the T stands for Tension - I guess it is quite descriptive....

And hi to everyone else too... It is so cold and wet and windy here I am making soup for lunch today - can control the weight if I cook my own stuff much more easily... and it's a good way to use up the leftover bits of veg in the fridge. (orlando 63 deg at 7am, we are 48 deg at 11am!!)

Bye for now..
Tessa

Tessa - Graham crackers are not at all like the cereal - I agree - that "golden graham" cereal is incredibly sweet! Don't know how to explain graham crackers though - but it's not coated in sugar - just a cracker. One of my favorite snacks as a little girl was to have them with a little bit of grape or rasberry jelly! I also use graham cracker crumbs for a cheesecake crust. Ok - all this talk is making me crave them!

I'll chime in on wall color discussion. I'm not much of a decorator but I know I like some colors in my rooms. My family room's walls are like a celadon-green (I think that's the color); but dining room, believe it or not, has a teal blue color on half the walls - top half is wallpaper, paint color along the bottom half to match. How do you guys feel about wallpaper? I have it all over my house - bought it that way and thankfully, it was tasteful and I kept alot of it. Even when I did the addition for my daughter's room, I chose a butterfly/flower wallpaper. I just feel it gives the room more personality!

Anyhoo - hoping to get tix to the Hannah movie for next Wed. Hate going on a school night, but there's just no time to go this weekend. What is the deal with it only playing for a week? And $15 tickets?:scared1: I usually justify anything Disney does, but this one has me bugged. I mean, they know how popular Hannah is - I'm sure her movie would take in very good numbers if it was released like a "normal" movie. I feel like they're really taking advantage of her popularity by panicking us all into seeing it within this one week and paying that high tix price!

Ok - that's my rant for the day! Have a good one everybody!:)

Tessa - Forgot to mention. If your girls really like choc.-dipped marshmallows - try to get over to DTD during your trip. Goofy's Candy Co. has a "create your own treat" station: can choose from marshmallows, pretzels, cookies; dipped in choc.; then rolled in various toppings. My girls and I love doing this and it's not that expensive. There's a "food porn" thread on the restaurant board with pix of people's creations, if you're interested.

Hopped on for a sec - Tomorrow is Friday!!

Cammie - We love the Goofy place at DTD! Yummy! We will have to make the marshmallows. How fun! I totally agree about your rant! I thought the same thing! My girls really want to see it. I am sure it will be cute, but it was hard to squeeze it in this weekend.
Tessa - You need to give it a try if you haven't! (Goofy Candy Co.) I definitely get the tension thing!:headache:
Hi Jillian!:wave2: Teething - YIKES. Good luck! They're EASY until they're mobile! Or so I thought!
Tammie – Lucky you to be always traveling! I hope that you and Debbie do get to see each other between flights. How neat would that be?
Debbie – Pottery Barn has such pretty things! I need to check out PBKids to see if I can find something cute for my niece for Valentine’s Day. I am sure that won’t be a problem! You are lucky to have your mom!

Hi to everyone!!:flower3:

:grouphug:

DH is gonna kill me!!!! I just booked BBB for our daughter for our trip in May. I think this is gonna be the last time she'll do the "girly" thing for awhile so in a way, it's for me! She's become such a tomboy lately, but she still likes to play in my makeup and have her nails done. Aaaaand, since we're not paying for this trip (DH's parents are!), why not splurge on her???

Also, I'm debating going to Orlando next weekend for the Pirate/Princess Party. After all, we did move to only about 2 hours away and the FL resident rates are pretty good right now. We may as well take advantage of our location, right? But we still haven't sold our house back in SC so we don't want to be spending a lot of extra money right now until we can get that equity out of our house.

Plus, I had a bunch of testing done over the past 2 weeks on my thyroid (dr found a lump!) and of course, being the panicky person I am, I was convinced I was dying! Well, after a scan, ultrasound, blood test, and CT, they have determined that the "nodule" she found is actually muscle tissue! So all that worrying to say I'm in great health! Now I want to do something fun! So I told DH to call his Disney ccard company and find out how much he has racked up in Disney rewards, every little bit helps! So wish me luck when I spring this one on him! Yikes! I guess I should make dinner tonight - on second thought, I'll get more out of him if I let HIM cook, does that tell you anything about my cooking???:rotfl:

And stop talking about all the candy!!!! Y'all are killing me!

Kara, glad you are okay! Your clean bill of health certainly deserves a celebration trip to the happiest place on earth! :cloud9:

Tessa, graham crackers do taste a little like the cereal, but way less sweet. If you have had cheesecake, like Cammie said - the crust is crushed graham crackers. You will need to go to the campfire singalong with Chip and Dale at Wilderness Campground, if they have it in the Spring - they have a little shop where you can buy the S'mores ingredients, and the "natives" will show you how to make them :thumbsup2

Cammie - your colors sound nice, except I'm not sure about the teal?
I have one wall of paper in my dining room - it was there when we moved in, and I made my decor go with it, so I didn't have to decorate ;) The walls are a very light gray, almost white - the carpet is a medium gray - the wallpaper is a design up vertical "ropes" of braided black, white and beige, with a border a the tope of beige leaves with black accents. I already had heavy European style furniture, so I got a tuscan style chandelier, beige sheers for the French doors - and some red accents, because ... the kitchen is connected - has grey tile, white cabinets with black knobs and black countertops. I put red gingham curtains up - and MIKCKEY stuff!!!! I really love the black and white with the Mickey and Minnie kitchenware - it is so fun, and a fun to add things as souveniers when we go on vacation!

I would love to start painting, but I just don't know what I want to do, so I'll probably wait until I'm totally ready to change the entire look of those two rooms, along with the living room. Those rooms are all connected - out to the front entry and down the hall, so when I start, it will change everything!

Just wanted to say a big Hello to everyone. Haven't been here in a long while. I've started a homemade candy business and getting that up and running with the regular mom duties is very time consuming. I hope everyone is well and I just wanted you all to know that I think of you ladies often! :goodvibes

For those new ladies who don't know me...I'm Pam (in Virginia) not to be confused with Pam2 in Texas)

Pam

Hiya all -

Thanks for trying to explain - I did a search (why didn't I do that before duh!!) - what you call graham crackers, we call digestive biscuits - why can't we all use the same terminology!!!

But smores sound absolutely yummy now I know what they are - sorry Kara -I'm on a diet too - and totally obsessed with food right now....

Cammie - goofy place sounds nice we will definitely be giving that a go...
Also - we love wallpaper in the UK - it covers up the little cracks we ALWAYS seem to have in the walls (that's the problem with plaster/top finish onto solid block walls) and also adds a little more insulating warmth I think...

Debbie -I love white too - trouble is ours is looking a bit grubby now, so need to get out with a paintbrush - but not doing anything too much before our trip.

Done some more towards our trip - booked some Universal express passes for our trip (ooops sorry for mentioning "the other place" on the DIS) - I loathe the lines, so am doing anything to avoid them....

Cheers
Tessa

"Tonight's featured dessert is a lovely vanilla bean cheesecake with a buttery crushed digestive biscuit crust...." :scared:

Definitely loses something in the translation, don't ya think?:rotfl:
