Welcome, Kara!

Everyone is talking about snow and cold weather, and TRIP PLANNING! I need to plan a trip, and change my silly signature w/the holiday icons and add a trip ticker!! I am afraid that I will not be able to talk DH into another WDW trip until Nov 2009! Until then, I am not sure what we will be doing.

I went to see my mom at lunch, and they took out another IV while I was there. She seems to be doing OK. I am stopping by on my way home.

Tomorrow is the big day – I will finally be an aunt! Mom is very upset that she is going to miss out, so I will be taking pictures and video at one hospital, then going by Mom’s to show her the pics on the digital frame we got her and bringing my DVD player to show her the video.

I didn't get as much done while my mom was in the hospital but I spent a lot of time w/her and that was really nice. We sometimes had 6 people in the room and we were all laughing together. Spending time w/family is more important than a few of the chores that I didn't get done.

Lisa – this is what we’ve been doing the past couple of days. I totally agree w/you! My house is more of a disaster right now than it usually is to prove it! Putting things into perspective, it just doesn’t matter. I hope that your mom is doing well, and that her spirits are good.

Pam2 -We are so alike -I also am into so many crafts etc - life seems to have not enough time in every day - I only work one hour a day, and never seem to finish anything!! Do you have an "I'll finish that one day" cupboard?? Mine is overflowing!! (Confession - I also have an overflowing "I'll start that one day" cupboard!!:lmao:)

Must go check which days are busiest at which parks etc- love the internet..... Can you feel the twitchyness (is that a word??)

Tessa – yes, and yes!! One exception – I am not organized enough to have my things in a cupboard or closet! They are scattered! One of these days, I will get organized and complete projects – probably not until the kids are grown. Right now, I am feeling the twitchyness for the weekend. I hate to rush time, but it’s been a heck of a week already. Enjoy this best part of your trip planning!

I know how you feel. I just started back at work Part time (EMT) so I work 12 hour days and with cleaning the house planning a trip getting summer clothes in the middle of winter. I am exhausted:headache: I got a sewing machine for Christmas and it is still in the box. I have no clue how to use it and wanted to sign up for classes.

Jillian - I took classes right after I got mine, but then I haven’t done a thing with it, so I’ve forgotten everything!!

Hi Ladies,
How is everyone! I was at a bowling birthday party yesterday and today I have a wedding shower. Get this...in my invite for the shower a note came with it that said in lieu of gifts please make a contribution to our dream vacation.... ..Thoughts??????

Debbie – I think it is a little tacky handled that way, but a couple of others suggested other ways that it might be done that I think I would like better. It’s hard when both people have already established households and don’t really want the fancy china and silver.

got footwear sorted so the kids and I can wear in their sandals and crocs - we all have odd feet which seem to get blisters if shoes aren't worn in slowly.... got to go get the girls, didn't realise the time...oops

Tessa – we too are prone to blisters when that much walking is involved. We did beautifully with the Crocs w/socks – much better than the tennis shoes. I know everyone is different, but that’s what we found.

Listen to what happened to me though(it was kind of scary)......I was on the computer when all of a sudden I burst out of my seat and started screaming at the kids to clean up, and how I was so tired of cleaning and this is ridiculous...yada yada. After about 20 minutes of me ranting I got the squiggly eyed dizzy feeling followed by an awful migrane! Isn't that weird? Thoughts? Do you think it was all one thing or do you think me losing my temper like a crazy person caused the migrane???
I AM a nut job!
Be back later I hope. I feel guilty now so I think I am going to bring the kids swimming at the YMCA so we can forget how cold it is here!!!!

Debbie – Don’t be so hard on yourself. When I occasionally lose it like that, for no apparent reason, I apologize to the girls. You are not a nut job.

Tammie – I loved your puppy story. My baby sleeps w/us (I never thought I would allow that to happen), and if it’s not DH I hear snoring, it’s the dog. I am SURE that I do not snore.

Cammie - I am LOVING the new fonts and colors you've been using!

Hi to everyone else! It’s going to be crazy the next couple of days, but I will stay connected.

Pam - Yes, you really need to get rid of your holiday icons; but don't feel bad - my house is still half decorated from Christmas and half decorated for Valentine's Day. But, who cares?

I'm so glad your mom came through ok. When do you think she can get released? I know it can be so hectic going back and forth from the hospital. Hang in there! Hopefully the worst is over.

Kara - :welcome: to the thread! After reading your post, I can say you've come to the right place. I read the words "grand gathering" and winced!:lmao: While I always thought it would be nice to do Disney with my whole family and I know I'm way too much of a control freak and would NOT be very cooperative. I say, stick to what's most important to YOUR family and let others do what they want. If you need to vent about it, just come here!

Debbie - Don't feel bad - you're not crazy. We all need to "let it out" every once in awhile. We've all been there. As Tammie says, you may need some chocolate! Although, I find that a glass of wine can work just as well!:thumbsup2

So glad Wed. is over - looking forward to the weekend. Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I have plans with some friends to see "Michael Clayton" - George Clooney stars (HUBBA HUBBA!) We have something called a premium cinema by us; no one under 21 because they have a bar. You sit in leather recliners and are allowed to bring your drinks into the theater. Can also order appetizers or dinner to have at your seat. It's great! I'm soooo spoiled with this place; I now hate going to a "regular" theater and dealing with "kids". If you guys have something like this near you, I highly recommend it!

I'll let all know how the movie was!

Cammie - The pressure was too much! I got rid of my holiday icons! Your "premium theater" sounds great! I get so tired of loud kids at the movie theater, especially when it's not a kid movie! Don't get me started about babies in the theater. I just can't understand it. I don't want to offend anyone, but I have just had the experience of babies crying, and parents not taking them out, one too many times! In your honor, I have changed my font and color!:lmao:

My signature is just way too boring w/out a trip ticker of some kind. DH and I quickly need to have a discussion about a trip. We talked about the two of us going to Las Vegas for a couple of days during the kids' Spring Break, but I feel so guilty about that. DD's would stay w/my IL's and do lots of fun stuff, and I would do fun things w/them the rest of the week when we get back. I take vacation from work the entire week of Spring Break. We've done that before. We don't typically take a family trip during Spring Break, except to sometimes visit friends in Houston for a few days and head to Galveston for a day. We will probably do a family trip of some kind right after school lets out for summer. I need to get busy planning. I'd like it to be somewhere we can drive to. I love road trips, but DH will fight me on that one. Starting this year, DD's only get 3 days for Thanksgiving vacation, so if we want to go to WDW during that time, we will need to take them out of school for a couple of days! Maybe we need to start going over the Christmas break, but it's probably a lot more crowded then. I am the only one on this thread w/out an upcoming trip!:sad1:

Mom got out of the bed and walked a little w/a walker this afternoon.

Sewer - We could probably all stand to lose at least 10 lbs. I would like to do that, but I don't think that eating pizza for lunch AND dinner is going to get me there. It's been crazy going back and forth to the hospital the past few days, and it was just so easy. Although a bowl of cereal for dinner would have been just as easy! It's just plain hard!:headache:

Kara - Good luck w/your family trip. We've been going to WDW every 2 years for the past 8 years, and 2 of those trips were just the 4 of us, one was w/my IL's, and this last one was w/my family. As much as I love them, I have to say that I enjoyed the trips w/just the 4 of us the most. It is so hard to please everyone, and I felt like we gave up things so that everyone was happy. At least w/my IL's, they went off and did some things by themselves, so we had some time by ourselves, but w/my family, all 7 of us were together the entire time, and it was a bit stressful at times. :scared: I am afraid of hurting anyone's feelings, so although I mentioned a few times before the trip that we should split up occasionally, when my family seemed like they wouldn't hear of it, I didn't push it. We had so much fun though, and Monday night, when I thought that we could lose my mom, I was so glad to have had the experience, and my kids had the experience of experiencing WDW w/their grandparents. Hang in there.

Pam2

It is very difficult to maintain a "proper" diet! We all run from one place to another, and finding time each day is just not in the cards. :confused3

Hey everyone:surfweb:

Since I am a new mom of an 8 month old I can only say I would NEVER take my munchkin to a movie.Movies are for me and DH until he can sit still and keep quite which is not his forte right now:rotfl: :rotfl:

Pam- SO glad to hear your mom is doing so well. :yay:

Kara - Welcome you will just love it here and everyone has helped give me such great advice and don't be afraid to ask or talk about anything.

Cammie- I still have my christmas wreathe on the door the neighbor actually asked when I was going to take it down. She's like the neighbor from bewitched :rotfl2:

I actually had 5 mins. to go to the gym today. But we had BK for lunch today so it didn't help:confused3

Okay has anyone ever rented DVC points?

Sewer - you know I wasn't :lmao:

Pam, glad to hear your mom came through okay. Sounds like it was really scarey. Glad she doesn't have cancer! Here's some PD and prayers for a quick recovery! :flower3:

New baby? Do you have pics to share?

Welcome Kara! :cheer2: You have found a good place to vent! We are here to listen. It sounds like you are not looking forward to your vacation at all. :sad2: Such a big event to be ruined by family dynamics. I know it can be that way. Maybe you can arange for days away from the family, and getting back together for dinners. That's what I have told some of my sibs - their touring style would drive me nuts

Debbie - hope you are feeling better!

Tessa - I keep telling DH it is not me snoring, either - but we don't usually have a dog with us. :rotfl2:

Jillian - I haven't rented points, but I know some do. There were some warnings on the DVC threads about some scammers, so do your research!

Sewer - it is really hard to eat right on the run, I know. Having a bag of almonds or trail mix in the car can help, as well as having some protein shakes pre-mixed to take with you in a travel mug. It is hard to plan ahead - I often opt for the bowl of cereal for dinner, too! :thumbsup2

Cammie, that theatre sounds great! It would be a great date night  I don't get taking baby to the movie, either. Some people are so shocked when their little ones aren't welcome everywhere. Not fair to the kiddies, either. I haven't been to the movies much. It's basketball season. DH is a high school BB coach. I will see him again in March! :lmao:

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hey look at our thread - love seeing all the different colors and fonts! I've vowed on another thread to type my posts in this "NY Giants blue" color in honor of our team being in the Super Bowl. We're all VERY EXCITED about the big game!

Jillian - I haven't even thought of taking the wreaths off my door & windows yet. Alot of my neighbors still have theirs up. I feel with all the snow that's still around, it looks very "wintry". I'll take them down when they turn that lovely yellow color!

re: renting DVC points. Never have done it - I'm a DVC owner. One of my neighbors did it and said it went fine. I would definitely go over to the DVC forum to do some price comparisons. I know it usually works out for people, but I think it's a scary idea. You have to find someone very trustworthy. DVC member services WILL NOT talk to anyone but DVC members, so you can never call yourself to get a confirmation of your transaction - and, I believe, the reservation will always be in the DVC members' name. For a scammer, there is the potential that they could take your money for rent, then cancel your reservation w/out you ever knowing until the day you check in. I'm sure those situations are few & far between, but the potential is still there. For control freaks like ourselves, I would hate not having access to my hotel reservations. Again, I don't want to scare you away from the idea - but definitely do your research, as Tammie suggested, before you do anything!

Have a good day everybody!:)

Hiya all, just a quick check in

I am also needing to lose weight (though somewhat more than 10 pounds!!!:scared:) so I joined the loosing weight for the mouse thread on this board... they team you with a diet buddy - mine is soo like me we could be twins..... Doing well - 4 pounds so far this year!!

Just cutting snacks and actually cooking more - food is more colourful - less "beige" that way.

Welcome Kara - it's a friendly place here!!

Cheers
Tessa

We are expecting a winter storm tonight, with freezing precip, that will close everything down tomorrow, at least for a delayed start at schools and offices. Uggh. If we could have pretty snow that people could drive in, I would love it, but when we have any kind of frozen stuff here, it makes for dangerous driving because we do not know how to drive on the ice!

No baby news yet. It will probably be into the night. She got her 2nd epidural, and is only at 4 centimeters as of about 1/2 hr. ago. Poor thing. Mom may not see baby pics tonight, and if it storms, maybe not until tomorrow night. I guess even if it doesn't storm it will be tomorrow night. I have to work tomorrow.

TGTF. It's been a rough, emotional week!

Still w/out a trip planned or travel ticker (hope to fix that soon!),
:grouphug:
Pam2

Wow! Y'all have a lot going on here! New babies, Christams decor still up and sounds like some ill family members. Pam, don't know what is plaguing your mother but hope she improves.

I hear talk of winter storms and I miss them! We just moved to Florida in November and I miss all the ice storms we got in South Carolina - plus my Ohio winters as a kid! And Florida does have a winter! We're in Jacksonville, barely FL, more like southern Georgia. But because of the high humidity here, 50 degrees is bone chilling - I can't warm up - it's very weird.

AND since I moved, I've gained back 1/2 of the weight I lost last year! I lost 22 lbs (goal was 30) and have gained back about 9 pounds just from all the house hunting trips (DH was transferred) and then the ease of eating out so much since we've been here! I joined Jenny Craig and loved it! I guess I need to call the local center. Especially since we leave for WDW in about 3 months - I need to get back to at least where I was before we started this whole move (I was very brave and got rid of all my old clothes and now stuff is starting to get tight again!!!!:scared1: ).

As for Christmas decorations, yup, I've got everything put away all nice and neat - stored away until next year.... except the mistletoe that is STILL hanging in my foyer. The way I see it, it's only about 10 months now until I pull the decorations back out so I might as well leave it there!!! :santa:

I've spent a lot of time on the Disigns section here, making tons of stuff for the family trip in May. I've made everyone shirts, autograph books for the kids, personalized invitations for meals, personalized car magnets for the caravan from our house (yes, lucky me! they all converge on our house the night before we leave since we're only 2 hrs away!), etc. It's been fun making all this stuff, and makes me the favorite DIL (wait, I'm the ONLY DIL - ) but now that it's done, I have to spend more time working - yuck! Luckily I work from home but still need to be available during normal business hours. So I get all my projects done "during business hours!" It's a nice perk of the job, give me lots more time to spend with my family (which is why I'm on the internet right now - to get away from them! :rotfl: ). Just kidding!

I don't have names yet, so as I address previous posts, you'll know who you are! I, too, need to always have that trip planned. I think the anticipation is part of the fun! Last time we went to WDW we booked only 30 days out and as crazy as that sounds, I missed the long countdown! And now that we're Florida residents, we'll probaby make several day trips and a couple of weekends every year, so I just hope that doesn't take away from the magic!

OK, DH just walked in the door so I guess I should go "spend time with my family!"

First, let me start out by saying that after spending over an hour typing this and making it look pretty by the time I posted it Alex shut down the boards!!!! OMG!:scared1: I couldn’t believe it!! THANK the good Lord above I typed the post out in “Word”. Thank God!!!:cloud9:

Hi Everyone,
How are you all? I am great. :cold: Just FREEZING!!! I have been spending a lot of time on-line looking for flights for DH's PHX flights and car rental, etc. I have to do it all because I am a control freak (as you all know) and I don't trust him to get the lowest fares. I hate the way you have to get airfare:mad: . I hate that it’s like gambling! I saw a great fare on Monday but I thought, “Hey, Monday is a high day it can only go down....”
Guess what?? Of course it didn’t! It went up and never came down this week. I am so bummed. It only went up $33.00 but I saw the lower fare on Monday, which always gets my goat!
Enough about me…..

Pbharris (Pam ) Don’t forget to post an occasional “fly by”. It has been awesome though being able to IM you!
TinkLvr (Maureen) I checked in with her via the email and she is doing good. VERY busy. She is a manager at the pharmacy now and her littlest is mobile so she is running around!
DisneyOhana (Lisa) How is your Mom doing? How is life? Sorry we haven’t gotten together but life is crazy isn’t it? PLUS I really tend to hibernate when I am freezing!
Magicfor2 (Tammie) I still am looking over your products and will decide soon. My face is at least clearing up.
How is the family situation going? Who is visiting these days? BTW What are your hours? Do you basically work whaat you want when you want from home? That is GREAT for you!!!
BTW Thanks to everyone who let me know about their skin problems and what has helped.
Ahibird (keahi) I haven’t forgotten you owe us pix! I probably should stop harassing you though because I like that you still stop by. I am glad things are coming along with your DCL trip! That will be so cool:cool1: !
tttessa (tessa) Hi! What’s your weather like? NOT bitter cold, right? Hopefully not dreary either. How is that job of your going. I know you are all over the trip planning. Any thing gone wrong yet? I am sure it is all perfect with you in charge!
Lovin Life ( Pam2) I hope your Mom is getting stronger every day! Good luck to your bro & fam too. I hope everyone is happy and healthy!!!
TiDoubleGerr (Kristin)I hope you are happy and healthy too. Stop by and let us know how you are feeling.
Camster0307My Christmas stuff is down because once Christmas is over I am done. I just want to move on to spring! I am done with winter now too. The movie theatre seems wonderful! I would love that. Are the prices the same as a regular theatre to get in?
BTW....Another thread???? Aren’t we the one & only thread out there!
Speaking of the theatre…who is doing Hannah in 3D?? Did you get tix yet?
Sewer Hi Buddy! I LOVE food!!!!!! I just love going out to dinner and going to buffets. I have been so lucky to keep my weight down lately. Not sure what I am doing right since I am 40 now! I think, unfortunately, like I have said before, part of it is anxiety and caffeine. Not so good except that when I do eat I eat pretty healthy. I’m not saying I don’t LOVE the junk but I also eat good stuff too and I take vitamins.
Want to hear something sad?? When I watch biggest loser (which I love)…I eat too much while I watch! It’s almost like I am so glad I’m not being told to put down the fork that I eat like a rebel during the show. I am coo coo for cocoa puffs! All kidding aside, I have had to watch my weight and basically diet since I was 12! So dieting is definitely a four letter word to me!
Should we find a site or something to log our threads weight ups & downs?? Do you think that could help us or should we just all keep doing what we are doing? Maybe we should post before and after pix or all post what we want to lose…I don’t know….. Make sure you pick realistic goals…there are websites that tell you that too…

soontobewed07 (Jillian) I am giving myself high fives over working out at the YMCA once a week so far! How sad is that!!!!! Once a week…. I guess it’s better than nothing, right.

karajeboo Welcome! I am so glad you found us because this bunch of gals is so GREAT!! We all have different degrees of craziness (OCD, control freak, worrier, germaphob, etc) but we are always here to listen. VENTING is welcome! That’s what we are here for. It is so cleansing to get it off your chest to people who won’t judge you
…not to mention we can be here for ya with our WDW planning expertise!

Well, I hope I have caught up! Please remind me or fill me in if I missed anyone or anything! It’s hard to post fast and long since I don’t type very well…..
Love you all!! Thanks for being here!!!!

If me posting my weather annoys you guys just let me know but I always like to keep you posted as to why I am either crabby, whining or hybernating! Also, I can try and make you guys one if you want. Sometimes I can just change a couple things around and it works. I would put it in my ticker but I think I got in trouble for that. Maybe I will go to the site and see if there is a smaller one.

ALSO....... Tonight is High School Musical on Ice for us!!!!!! Sadly we are going on again on Sunday! (Then I wonder why I am broke)

Hey Debbie - We're going to see the High School Musical ice show too - it's in town the week of my girls' Feb.vacation. I'm sure it will be good - I love the music from both movies. Let me know what you thought of it.

And, of course, we WILL be catching the Hannah 3D concert movie. Tix haven't gone on sale by us yet even though it's coming out next week. I'm a little excited for it myself. Lauren and I really, really enjoyed the show when we saw it in Dec. - it will be like going all over again! (maybe I'll try to post some pix I took at the concert)

As for my adults-only premium cinema: it is more expensive - $18/ticket but you get free coat check and unlimited popcorn. I hear the soda is free too but, I have to be honest with you, my girlfriends and I don't take advantage of that - we're quite happy with our bottle of wine in it's little cooler at our seat!:rotfl:

I will definitely let you know! I love the music too! You heard I'm sure that HSM 3 will be released this fall, right?

I hope we didn't miss out on the tickets because I think they already went on sale!It should be fun.

Hey, anyone have any good car rental codes? Also, anyone ever use those travel sites like priceline or hotwire. I just did last night. Thoughts?

I'm picky about the companies I like -- that's why I'm so hesitant to use priceline... I guess it's just the control freak in me. :rolleyes1 I found that I get the best deals (and codes) through Costco Travel. I've used their codes bunches of times and have yet to be asked to show my membership card. Also, mousesavers has some great tips for scoring deals too.
