Debbie - I love the HSM thread! Even my DH enjoyed the movie. We think the plot was just as good as the first, and the songs and dance were better than the first. We do love the first one too though! They're just such cute, feel good, happy ending movies! The marketing is HUGE. DD9 got HSM2 binder, folders, pencils, pencil case, and now wants HSM/HSM2 bedding. I have to Google it to see if it exists!

'night all!:grouphug:

Shhh...I still haven't seen it yet! The MIL is still here and DD and her rode the train to Portland to visit some family and just got back today, so DD and I are going to watch it later this week. MIL goes back to CALI tomorrow night.
DD just came home with the HSM back pack, notebook and the back pack has a wallet, I got her a messenger back purse and a folder....she is set!

Walmart has anything and everything you ever wanted HSM....except I think it is all too pepto bismoly pink! I don't dig it. I would prefer it with black or red theme....I'm sure there's other stuff out there though.

Hiya all,

and welcome Amy.....

Well, we WERE in London this weekend (some of you have photographic memories!!)- I was a bit worried about using the tube (London underground train system) as they were the focus for terrorist attacks over here by just about anyone since they were built, but as it is the backbone of the transport system, we were on it ALL the time, never saw anything "suspicious" thankfully...

Did the tower (no heads chopped off !!) zoo, buckingham palace - well, looked at the outside, natural history museum (the exhibits did NOT come to life!! - except for a "life size" animatronic T-Rex the kids thought was really COOL),aquarium, big ben and the battle of britain memorial as well as the parks, planet hollywood and Hamleys ( the best toy shop EVER). Not bad for 3 days - in serious training for Florida!!!!

Now home - absolutely shattered and out of food, so got to go shopping - so a big hello and goodbye to all for now!!

How's the hurricane (Dean??) going over there - has it hit the states yet? I do feel sorry for all those folk affected in the carribean - hope you all are ok...

Tessa

Hi Pam! :wave2: didn't know you were on - and then you weren't! :rotfl2:

This thing times me out after awhile while I am reading or looking at pictures. Then I have to log back in. Does that happen to anyone else??

Now that is just precious! :cutie: Glad your DGM is going - and enjoy that night out! It is just as important to take some time away from the kids as to spend the time with them KWIM? ;)

I totally agree. DH and I didn’t do that as much as we should have in our first years as parents, and we had some problems. DH can be a big baby, and needs attention and sometimes even gets jealous of the kiddos. I think that us women have tough jobs, pleasing everyone! I have even come to the conclusion that I need to take time out for MYSELF from DH and the DDs. It is much easier, now that they are older.

Walmart has a ton of the bedding. We got a bunch of it and I love it!!!

We looked at our Walmarts (2 of them) and they don’t have it yet! We’ll keep watching!! Wonder if DH will mind if I get some??:lmao:

DD just came home with the HSM back pack, notebook and the back pack has a wallet, I got her a messenger back purse and a folder....she is set!.

Sounds like you are ready for back to school!! The fun has just begun this week and our school starts next Monday! DD14’s dance starts back up tonight, we go see DD9’s class postings tomorrow PM, then she has a meet the teacher/supply drop Thursday PM. I love back to school and the routine it brings, especially earlier bed times! It’s been craziness around here, and tough waking everyone up in the AM to go to work and daycare/activities.

How's the hurricane (Dean??) going over there - has it hit the states yet? I do feel sorry for all those folk affected in the carribean - hope you all are ok...

Tessa, your London trip sounds like it was wonderful! How fun! The hurricane isn’t affecting us that much, except for a little rain (nothing like we were having at the beginning of the summer, well, ¾ of our summer!) and a LOT of humidity. Those poor people in Houston…I need to check on our friends in Houston.

I am home waiting for the A/C guy to get here to give us some air!! Second time something has gone wrong with it this summer. Luckily our temps have gone down a little bit – it was only 95 yesterday. Last night wasn’t terribly bad. He's here!!! Cool air!!!!!!!:yay:

Have a great day, all!! :flower3:

Hiya again....

We are pretty much in that horrible place right now - just back from a trip and not away again till APRIL - way too long to wait - but cos we are flying over to Florida on our next trip, we need to save save save.....

Just got a couple of activities we booked for the holidays - today we went pottery painting!! It was great, I did a flowery bowl, the kids did mermaids, they keep them, glaze them and fire them and we get them back next week - hope they look good. And I booked them into our school stay-and-play for tomorrow, the grey hairs are starting to show through again, so need to "enhance my natural colour", though I'm not really sure I can remember what that was!!

I was wondering does anyone out there use home hair dying kits - I always go to the hairdresser, but it seems to be getting expensive (£70 - about 140 dollars for a colour/cut/dry). I just worry like mad about turning my hair green/purple or it all falling out.... Is it really messy? We get Andie McDowell advertising stuff over here saying it's SOOOOO easy... I bet it's not, but I need the courage to try I guess.... (how easily the worrying nature comes back.....)

Got to go stop the kids - firing water pistols at the washing drying on the line - AS IF that would ever be a good thing to do!!

Cheers,
Tessa

Hi Tessa! Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip to London. Sounds like it was great!

We are in the middle of trying to finalize our November dates and get airfare! Right now airfare is bad! We are just not going at a good time with Veteran's weekend and Thanksgiving. Oh well. I have to decide by the end of the day whether it's worth another $230.00 added to the already $800.00 in airfare to stay another day.:confused3
Wish me luck!

I hope you are all well. I don't know if you guys saw it on the news but we got hit with some really severe storms yesterday. Lisa, are you OK?

And lastly.....

Just an FYI here for anyone who watches other reality TV stuff!......

Thanks so much Sewer! I am fine but a whole bunch of towns were hit bad! You saw downtown, right??? Crazy! We had no severe damage...thank God!
I am on the NW side of Chicago and somehow a lot of the trees by my house are standing!
Always glad to see you here!

I always try to make sure my friends are OK! There's been so much rain, and bad weather lately it's not to be believed.

We finalized our trip (I think). I just bought the whole gangs plane tickets and Mom will call back Disney tomorrow to finalize our stay. As of right now we will spend the first two nights at Pop or some place in that price range and then we are moving on to GF for the next 6 nights! With the Visa discount we are getting the dining package plus hoppers for the GF portion of our stay. We figure we saved about 20%. Plus we figured with the price increases this would probably be the last time we use the dining plan. Once again it will be Grandma, Bappa, Uncle, DH, DD, DS and myself!!! I am so excited! Time to start paying for it all before it gets here!
We will be going Wednesday, November 7th to Thursady, November 15th. Weird days but the airfare was ridiculous if you wanted to fly on a Friday or Saturday.

Speaking of weird weather...

Last week was pretty unusual for us here in the middle of the Pacific -- First we had a couple of small earthquakes on the Big Island; then dodged a Hurricane (Flossie); a finally had a tsunami advisory issued (that was cancelled - thank goodness) due to the earthquake in Peru. This all happened in a matter of days - we were wondering what was next ? Fire and brimestone ? Plague of locusts ? :scared1: Strange stuff...

But, we were blessed and luckily nothing bad happened. It was pretty tense and exciting for a few days, though. It was also a wake-up call for people to have the disaster preparedness kits ready !! I'm all stocked up with bottled water and toilet paper :thumbsup2

Hope you all are doing well. Welcome to the new folk :welcome: I'll try not to be a stranger... Aloha -- keahi

Glad to hear from you tonight too and glad you are OK!!!!!! What's going on, right??? Craziness!!!
Don't be a stranger.........

Hiya all,
well, it sounds like you are all getting the bad stuff now it's gone from here - I hope you are all OK...

The size of the US always amazes me (awesome - as we are led to believe you guys say a lot...;))- we were watching the news on our cable service and it had about your storms Debbie - looked really ferocious, hope all is past now.
And I don't know how you manage to sound so calm Keahi - we had a (very unusual!!) earthquake here about 5 years ago (around 2.5 on the scale - pathetic eh!) which scared the whatever out of me !! I could not even contemplate living somewhere it happened more than say once a century!!!

I've been reading the boards a lot lately and see lots of folks move hotel/resort when they are away in Florida - I was just wondering why? Doesn't it eat into holiday time?

Anyhows, got to get the kids up (never thought I'd have to say THAT!!) stay and play really tired them out yesterday - trouble is they had a "makeover" session at the end, but didn't check the products on the kids first and dd2 has had an allergic reaction to the glitter gel they put on her neck!! So she's dosed with anti histamine - maybe that's also why she slept in? Hey-ho, at least they had loads of fun, and when I dropped them an email to let them know, they were suitably shocked, apologetic and changing procedures.

Cheers,
Tessa

Hi Tessa!
I am not sure I understand your question? Sorry.:confused3

Hiya Debbie

it's just that if I had to pack up all my stuff, check out, get to the other place to stay, check in, find my way around etc - that could take me at least half a day (and that's without the kids!!) - when we only have 10 (well 9 and a half really) it seems to be not worth it, but maybe I'm missing something about why folks move... I tend to be a homebody, I guess we tend to "nest" in our temporary place on holiday, so have never considered moving around hotels in the same town.

Cheers,
Tessa

Gotcha! Well, we do it to save money because we love  GF but the prices are steep:scared1: ! While we are at the first hotel (we haven't booked it yet but it could be Pop, ASMovies, ASSports, etc.)we don't really unpack. The good thing is you just pack up the morning you are moving, give the bellhops your luggage and they just send it to your next resort room. So you can just do whatever you want that day. We usually check in very early but then head out for the day. You can even use the pool at your hotel until your room is ready. The only downfall is not unpacking completely at the first stop IMO. When we stay in WDW we like to make it worth our while but we try and not get to crazy money wise so our compromise is that we give up 2 nights to the lesser-priced room but when we go to GF and we we get MK view! Still a very expensive vacation though! I am going to have to come up with a get rich quick scheme soon:rotfl2: !

Hi everyone! :goodvibes

The kids are off to school tomorrow (well my 4yo goes to preschool Tues/Thurs) so I'll have a little more free time to DIS again! I've missed everyone.

ttesssa..about moving during vacation.....I'll only do it if we want to stay for at least 7 or more days. We are DVC members and points are high for Fridays and Saturday (alot more). So the last two years we went for 10 days. For 4 or 5 days we'll stay at a higher point place (like Beach Club Villas) and the remaing days we'll stay at a smaller point place (like Old Key West). By moving we can stay longer and use less points. But if we are going for say 6 days we stay wherever we feel like in a 1 or 2 bedroom usually at Beach Club Villas (our favorite) and don't move. I don't particually like to move, and I wouldn't if it were 1 or 2 days, but that's just my preference. If I were paying cash out of pocket it might be a different story. My accommodations are paid for until the year 2042 so it's more of a points thing for me.

Hi Everyone! I was unable to access the DIS for days! I posted last night, and then got kicked out and couldn't come back HELP!:scared1: I think it is my internet explorer - I logged on to AOL direct this time and got right on!

I feel like I already spoke to everyone, but you couldn't hear me! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is still doing well with the wierd weather. Keahi - we lived in Okinawa for 3 yrs - know what you mean about hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. It can get pretty crazy. we don't get anything extreme now, just an occasional small earthquake.
Debbie - I didn't know about Chicago - missed the news on that until today - YIKES!

My DIL Lindsay, (who has the 4 wk. old DD) was real sick on Tues with a uterine infection - 2nd time in 2wks - turns out she still had placenta and had to have a D&C on Thursday - then had to stay at the hospital because she bled too much and the doc was afraid of complications. I took the babies home with me - spent the night with a newborn! She did pretty well - first time with a bottle! They have come home to stay for a few days - my DS has to work shift work. She is doing well - between chasing after the 2 yr old and getting up at night to check on everyone, I am exhausted! I will be ready for them to go home on Tuesday!

Tessa - we moved resorts in June because we had some "Reservation points" to use from the DVC, and they have to be used outside a DVC resort - it has always been my dream to sit on the balcony and watch the giraffes - so why not? It was a little bit time consuming to pack up on the day we moved, but we just left our bags in the room and took off for shopping and then checked in at the resort around noon. It was easy, and we had our suits in a day bag so we went to the pool!

OH! Just saw HSM1 for the first time tonight! Cute! I had to know what all the fuss was about - guess I'd better watch 2 now!

Take care everyone - I hope I am not in the twighlight zone again!

Hiya again,
Thanks Debbie + everyone, I "get it" now.

We couldn't afford Disney prices for accommodation AT ALL this time around!! I am a bit (too?) evangelical about not taking the kids out of school at this early stage (aged 5 and 6) so we're doing an off site villa with virgin holidays (during our spring break) , I envisage spreading out, nesting and taking the hit on travel time (they say 20 min away, but I'll believe that when I see it!!).

Plus, we HATE sleeping in the same room as the kids - for the first 3 days no one gets much sleep, everyone gets grumpy and starts rowing due to tiredness, so we'll have to see how it goes... We plan to return for another go at Florida/disney/universal in 2011(!!!?!!!) when Harry Potter is up and running so I might suggest splitting things then - I also would LOOOVE to wake up to views of the savannah - at least for a couple of days anyhow.... I think I belong on this thread - forward planning really is my thing!

Magicfor2 (can't remember your name sorry...) Hope the DIL is recovering well -how magical to have the little on to yourself all night - I bet there were plenty of hugs! Hope all goes well.

Cheers
Tessa

Hi all! Just a drive by! I hope to get some computer time tonight. DH has been consumed by his fantasy football (and online poker, too), and DD's have been on the laptop. When they are not, I've been too busy or tired to be on the computer. We've been busy w/back to school - they started yesterday. Girl Scouts, dance and church activities started up, too. I am looking forward to the three day weekend!

Debbie - I had no idea about Chicago. I feel like I've been living under a shell lately. Sadly, I don't watch the news on tv often, and I obviously missed it in the online paper. I haven't talked to my relatives in the Chicago area in awhile. I need to check on them. I know my mom has talked to my grandma and she didn't say a word about it. I am so glad you all are OK. We will be arriving in WDW just as you are leaving.

Tessa - I know all about home hair color! I've been covering grey since DD14 was born with a shade of red. This weekend, I decided that I would go back to brown, but I went w/one that has red tones, and my hair naturally has red tones, so I am a brownish red. I feel too young to be so grey! It is very easy, but I just apply it over my entire head about every 6-8 weeks, and I get mine trimmed about that often, so it doesn't dry out. It hasn't fallen out so far! By this time, have you tried it already?

Tammie, I hope that your DIL is doing much better! How great that you had your DGD overnight. I probably won't have that chance w/my neice or nephew, but if I stay at my mom's when she's keeping him/her I will, and you betcha I will. They are so sweet when they're that little.

A big shout out to everyone! I hope that everyone is doing great! Have a wonderful evening!:grouphug:

Just thought I would have my own celebration :dance3: :rotfl2:

Welcome Back, Pam, Sewer!

Hope everyone is good! My DIL is doing great! They went home today, and my DH is out hunting, so I am planning a little quiet time with a "chick flick" and maybe getting my office a little more organized.

Have a happy Wed!!!
