Tammie Enjoy your new grandson! That is very awesome! Have you posted pics of him? How can I read your trip report and see your pics? I need to stop typing such long posts, and take some time to poke around more and learn about this place! How nice for you not to be working any more! Ill be there some day. Hopefully early retirement - enjoying the grandbabies, mall walking, breakfasts and bingo at McDonalds, senior discounts, working part time at a Hallmark store or Bath and Body Works for the discount, and being able to tell that that I dont work nights, weekends or holidays, and if they dont like it, Ill quit! I am not in any kind of hurry, I am enjoying my life too much right now, but I just think it will be another fun stage of life!
Debbie How nice to have 2 vacation homes, and all of the time to take off to enjoy them! Lucky you!
I just saw this in an article in todays paper
Are you experiencing vacation deprivation? Planning can alleviate the guilt of getting away. More than 50 million American workers are expected to forgo an average of three vacation days each this year. That means we'll be giving back 438 million days when we could be barbecuing at the beach, hiking in the mountains or kicking back at home.
Not me! I take every last one of my vacation days! Crazy, silly people! I wish I were on vacation right now!
Maureen You are a busy lady! I miss my kids being that little. Now that theyre older, they want to be with their friends a lot, especially DD1. I like it when she has friends at our house vs. theirs. I have a desk job, so I can type some of my posts during my slower times at work. I type them in Word, then post them later. Thats what I do with my email letters to family and friends. When its busy, Im not able to, but I take advantage of my down time. I dont take smoke breaks, and eat lunch at my desk on many days, so I dont feel bad taking care of my personal things. July is one of our busy birthday months DD1, my brother, FIL and DHs niece. Well have one party w/each family, then my DD will have a friend party. I think this will be the first year she may just invite 1 or 2 friends to go to dinner and a movie or something low key. Our families live about 45 mins. away from us, which has always been nice. Both mine and DHs siblings live pretty close to us, too. Weve been fortunate not to ever have a babysitter (or pay one!).
Tessa I struggled a little w/the picture, but I think that next time, it will be a piece of cake. My problem was that it was a scanned picture. I am in hardly any of my pictures because I am the photographer in our family, and most of the ones that I get of us from family and friends are on paper, not electronic. It was a .tif file, and to use Photobucket, I needed it to be a . jpeg or .jpg something like that. Once I got that changed, it was easy. I did a search on threads about posting pictures, and found a really good one:

Its funny to hear everyones perspective on parenting. I too, try to be the best mom that I can be, try to make up for working and putting my kids in day care for all of these years, during the time that we have off together. Probably like most of us do, I try to do a lot of things differently than my mom did (although I love her dearly, and think that she did the best job that she could, like I am trying to). Our kids will be trying to do the same thing some day. I dont make my kids eat anything that they dont like, like my dad did to us growing up, but now I worry about them eating too many of the wrong things. We are junk food junkies, partly because DD1 only eats about 10 different things, which are kid-friendly foods (she will be 14 in a few weeks -- I hope that it changes.), and we are on the go so much. DD2 eats way more of a variety of things than DD1, and will try almost anything, which DD1 will not do. I worry about their weight, and mine and DHs too. We try to be good and get the chicken sandwich and side salad, but for DD1 its nuggets and fries. None of us get nearly enough exercise. DD1 just completed her first year of dance, and will continue, and is going to be a cheerleader at school this year, so that is good. I do not work out in any form or fashion right now, and cannot walk in the evenings because of this rain!! Either we have something to do, or its raining (or I am being a couch potato, like last night but it WAS raining!). Uggh!!
Pam, I cant wait to hear about your trip!!
