Debbie..do you want Deluxe, Moderate, Value, Hotel Plaza Blvd or off site?

Deluxe: Try the Beach Club...you and your family will love Stormalong Bay...you'd probably like the decor as well. If you can't get in there..try the Boardwalk Inn. They are both near each other and have a lot of places to eat.

Moderate: I've stayed in anything but DVC/Deluxe, but if I did, I'd try either Cor.Springs or PO :confused3

Value: Pop Century

Hotel Plaza Blvd: Hilton

Off Site: Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites

But I'd say Beach Club and I am bias because I that's where we own points and I love it there..esp. the pools and Cape May Cafe!

Did you ever stay at the Grosvenor? A friend of mine said she loves it there and it is right by DTD. If you are talking about the Disney resorts, we liked POR and CBR. At POR we liked the Plantation rooms. CBR seems better for young kids, IMO. The shallow pool is nice for your DS age, and for your DD. The food court has great Caribbean music and is so colorful. The beaches have fun playgrounds and there are always ducks around.
BTW, that's great that you got ADR's for the castle on your B-day. I'm sure you'll have fun no matter where you stay.

Thanks Lisa!!!

JUNE 4TH? THAT'S WHEN WE GET IN!
Yep! I am figuring two power days at MK! Would you be going to MK either of those days???
Ooooo, watching the travel channel yesterday really got me excited! :cool1: Sadly, I still have 3 months to go..... can anyone out there set their time machine for July 9th, 2007 for me? :confused3
You are too funny!
I tried to TIVO all those shows and the TIVO lost the cable signal! I was mad! I love those programs!!!

16 days to go and hitting bumps in the road... YIKES!!

We are waiting patiently (yeah right) for our refund check. The car needed to be fixed last week. 2 of the kids are coughing again. I still have to finsih clothes shopping for DS & DH. I can't seem to find water shoes for DD that fit right.

I told DH I just need to get away from the house and WDW planning for a few hours to relax. Hopefully Wed night we will be able to go out for coffee together.

I am over thinking things again (no one here does that rigt?? LOL:lmao: )
No not at all......:rotfl2:
Hang in there! The kids will be better by then.
Good luck with the refund check!
What about Crocs for DDs water shoes??? Or are you looking for more of a shoe to actually wear in the water???

I am trying to keep the room cost down for this trip. What is the Hilton's pricing? Homewood Suites or Embassy Suites?

I looked up Hilton on Hotel Plaza Blvd. for your dates the lowest price for 2A 2C was between $157 and $169 non smoking, tax not included, and it's 2 double beds. Don't know what kind of beds you're looking for.

Embassy Suites (in Lake Buena Vista on Lake Ave.) was $129.99 and also $119.99-net rates-non refundable.

Homewood Suites were higher and I didn't write those down. If you want to be on property either Hilton, or some Mod resorts would be same price probably.

Southwest had a DING fare 2 months ago for $29/each way and DH wanted to pass it up because it would still be cheaper to drive (only $100). Well...SW came out with another DING fare today and we got R/T non stop flights from Washington Dulles to Tampa for $315.20!!  I went through Alamo (using my Costco discount and got a Standard SUV (CHevy Trailblazer) for 10 days for $288 (not including tax).  So now all I have to do is get a hotel near the airport because we are leaving a day earlier now and we won't rent the car until the next day. Any suggestions?

I am afraid to fly. I used to fly more when I was younger. We flew last year because I wanted to face my fear again and get over it. Well, this deal was so good I couldn't pass it up. Now I am nervous, but not as nervous as I would be if I didn't fly last year. I'll just try not to think about it.

Any hotel suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi everyone. I finally got a quiet moment and a chance to post. It's been hectic since we returned - DH and I are finally back at work, and DS is back in school. Spring Break is officially over for us...:sad1:

I was thinking about posting a full blown TR over on the DL forum, but who know when and if that will ever happen. So, I'll just share the highlights...:goodvibes

THE REVEAL: We sprung the surprise on DS the day before we left. We were going over to a friend’s home for a small get-together that evening, and everyone there knew we were going to DL. We were sure SOMEONE would ask him about it. So instead of catching him off guard like that, DH and I decided to tell him over lunch that afternoon. I had all these grand ideas for a huge reveal - scavanger hunts, clues, hints - but of course, moving from ideas to action isn't exactly one of my strong points... Oh well, we ended up telling him over McD's cheeseburgers. At first he was in shock - :faint: you know - the blank look, not sure if he heard us correctly, wondering what strange planet his parents were from... Then came the disbelief - he thought we were trying to trick him, or something. He just couldn't believe it. Mainly because he knows I cannot contain my "Disney planning obsession" :hyper: - DS knows I start packing weeks in advance, making a million lists, buying him clothes for the trip, getting pins to trade from ebay, watching the planning videos, talking about Disney CONSTANTLY… Yes, I’m sure you all know the routine. ;) Well, he even told me he didn't see me doing all of those things so there was no way we were going. I had to actually convince him that I had done all those things in secret... :tiptoe:

Still, there was a part of him that was still suspicious. In fact, he was still skeptical all evening while we were at dinner…at home while I finished some last minute packing…the next morning as we took the dog to the "dog hotel" (boarding at the vet's office). It wasn't until we actually boarded the plane that he looked at me with a huge grin on his face and said - "Wow, we really are going to Disneyland - thanks Mom. This is the best surprise ever..."

More later - hope everyone is doing well :wave2:

ahibird.....glad you had a great trip. I can't wait to hear the rest of your report. That's so sweet your DS said that.

How fun Ahibird!!!!!!! How about some pix??????

Pam, Great news on the airfare! Was that 315.20 total for all 4 of you!! Is this for your summer trip?? When are you going????

Debbie

Hi Girls,
Just wanted to do a quick hello!! I get my own computer back tonight so that's exciting! Hope all is well with you guys! I have to admit what a corn ball I am! I love when I come to this thread and see all the monorails in the siggies!! It just makes me smile for some dumb reason!!!
Debbie
BTW Yesterday 70:cool2: ....today snow flurries!!!!!:headache:

Keahi - I loved hearing your TR so far. I would have felt the same as your son, even now as an adult, if someone told me that we were going on a surprise trip the next day. My DH always teases me so I can never tell if he is serious. That is so great that you were able to keep it a surprise for your DS.
Thanks for sending the little Easter guy.

Debbie & Sewer - Yes, it was wonderful yesterday and today it's freezing. :scared1: And what about that wind. I felt like one of the nannies on Mary Poppins, about to blow away any minute. My DH is going to a soccer game on Sat. It is supposed to be just as lovely out then.:sad2:

BTW Debbie I love seeing all the monorails, too. Thanks for that.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I have been MIA - I have had a really busy week, and when I did try to get on it seemed like the boards weren't working.

Keahi, can't wait to hear the rest of your trip highlights! I got tears when I read what your DS son said on the plane! Just what you wanted to hear!

For all you Mid-Westerners, the weather you are having is our last week's weather - Sunshine is on the way!:cool1:

Pam, I AM really excited! I don't have anything left to plan! I can't start packing yet, cuz we are going to Las Vegas in 3 weeks, and stopping by DL on the way home :woohoo: Guess I could start packing and planning for that! Just not the same as planning for the World!

Debbie - what I tried to post before, was that my DSIS stayed at the Embassy Suites - she loved it. Free Breakfast and evening snacks and drinks. Free Breakfast can really save money for a family!

Tea4Sanity, everything will work out fine - it always does! You are getting so close to your trip - how do you sleep at night?

YIKES!!! 12 days and we are leaving!! :moped:

I have to find the suitcases in the garage and pack them. I need to go get a few more items, but I think we just might be ready!

Tammie - A friend of mine stayed at Grosvenor and loved it but this year she has to stay at Embassy Suites because she now has four kids. She needs two rooms and she got a great price there.
You're going to Vegas and DL, WOW. I have never been to either.

Tea4sanity - 12 days!!! I am so jealous. I can't stop thinking of my trip 6 weeks away. I had a nightmare last night that I forgot our passes and Disney rewards card.:scared1: The funny part of the dream was that I just acted like it was no big deal. I told my DH, "That's okay, we'll just buy a 6 day ticket for the parks." Right now we have 3 days left on our old passes, I think. So in the dream I guess I was happy that now I could just buy a 6 day pass instead of having 3 days at the parks.:cool1:
Have fun packing!

I totally forgot. How could I have been so stupid??

DD5 gets CAR SICK. Granted the last time we were in the car for more than 3hrs was well over a year ago, but she puked all over the car and was green for hours after.

Do you think the bands would work for her? I do know the last time we put her on an amusement park ride (2004) she looked a little odd, but I guess I figured it was different then WDW rides. Oh geez, did I make a huge mistake here????

Debbie, yes that was $315.20 for all 4 of us roundtrip. I spent more than that on my duvet cover and bedskirt! I missed the boat on the DING fares last year though so I was ready in case we wanted to go by air.

Tammie, you're going to Vegas and DL too?! You are so lucky!

tea4sanity, I've used the Sea Bands for a cruise and they worked for me. I am not sure if you're supposed to use them on kids or not? But if you can give it a try. I doubt she'll keep them on though because they are snug and annoying and itchy. Make sure your DD doesn't get overheated and have a little 7 Up and crackers in the car so her tummy isn't empty.

Hi Everyone!
Tea4sanity I saw kids wrist bands in the Onestep ahead catalog or something so they do make them for kids. Your trip is practically here! You are so... lucky!!!

That is super airfare Pam!!! Today is Rise & Shine at Gymboree!

Lisa....scary dream!!!!!

Still on Dad's computer but tonight I think mine will be fixed.
I'll try and come back. I still need to decide on those June dates and where to stay. At least I have my CRT ADRs!!!!

:grouphug: to all of you!

tea4sanity - 12 days to go, you're practically there !!! :yay: Hope your DD fares well with the motion sickness. My DS gets a little car sick if he's too hot or if he tries to read while in the car is moving.

Debbie - I love the monorails, too. Thanks...:cutie:

Pam - That's a great fare for your family. As I say - every cent saved means more Mickey Ice Cream bars for me (or did I read that on the Budget board)...

Tammie - I read your other post - congrats on the new grand-daughter-baby !!! How fun you guys are going to Vegas and DL...

Did you know that Las Vegas is the #1 vacation destination for Hawaii residents. People go there 2 or 3 or 4 times a year... That's why my friends tease me that we go to Disney like other people go to Vegas.:thumbsup2

Hi Lisa :flower3: Hi Sewer :wave2: Hi to anyone I missed...:cheer2:

I'll be back with more about our DL trip...maybe I'll try to run up my post count :goodvibes

They have children's Dramamine available, even down to infant strength. We used it when the kids were very small, and again for our DGS this past Summer. It makes them a little mellow, but not drugged or anything - makes for a nice trip when it's a long one. This was actually recommended by our pediatrician. Happy Travels!!!!! Don't forget your toothbrush and your park passes :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing my excitement, everyone! I am starting to get jazzed!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Vegas is for my business conference, but I love attending!!!! A really positive experience! Then we have family near DL - 4 hours away - we are driving - they are the ones who introduced us to WDW! It's my DHs uncle, aunt and cousin, but the aunt and uncle are just a couple of years older than us - my DH spent Summers with the uncle growing up, so he's like a brother! We love to spend vacations with them! :woohoo: We will do "something", which includes DL!

I have this week, then 8 days at WDW in June, and then I'm quitting my day job at the end of June:dance3: Two new grandbabies to boot, what a Summer!
