I've never done it, but a lot of people rent them out and also rent points from members. A lot of it is explained on the DVC boards on the DIS. Usually the going rate is anywhere from $10/per point to $12/per point. DVC value, moderate, and peak seasons are different from the the hotels. Say you wanted to stay in Beach Club Villas a 1 bdrm (has kitchen, jacuzzi tub, seprate shower, king bed and a pull out, washer/dryer) from June 24 and checking out 5 days later on Friday, June 29th. It would require 150 points. If you rented them from someone at $10/point it would be $1500. Rack rate for that 1 bedroom at that time would be $480/night or $2400.00 You can add the dining plan and you'd also have some of the privileges DVC members have (free valet-and maybe discounts at the Saratoga Springs Spa, not sure though those are the better ones) Tickets aren't included.

Now I don't know if it's a better deal to get AP's and packages for DP and or whatever you do because I've never done that. Some people just rent to see how the villas are before they buy in. I also think it depends on your vacation style.

We like big rooms and seperate rooms. We like when our kids are in a different room. We also like King or Queen beds and the washer/dryer so we don't have to lug a ton of dirty laundry home. We do a mix of TS and sometimes a sandwich at the room or bacon & eggs or cereal. We also don't do the parks everyday. When we go we spend around $1400-1600. Our hotel is taken of and our tickets are as well (we bought 10 day non expire + waterparks and use 2-3 entries a year)..so the $1200 is for food, gas, hotel down/back, souveniers. I'm sure that can be trimmed, but we don't want to trim it.

You should check out those boards and they'd be better able to answer questions about renting and such. I'm still learning myself really. But if I didn't own already, I'd defintely rent froma DVC member!

Pam - Glad you guys are doing better. My grandma is doing better after a blood transplant. She may get out of IC tomorrow. I'm am feeling a lot better now.
Is it really simple to rent points? I love the YC & BC but they are so... expensive.

Glad your Grandma is doing better!

Hi Everyone!!
Sorry I have been a little MIA but I have been doing a lot of running around. Got some great stuff on clearance at the Disneystore yesterday and at Disneyshopping.com too with those stackable codes! So much for trying to budget. I better find a way to bring some money IN this house!
Everyone is still coughing but obviously better!
It is still a little too cold for my liking and I would like the sun back! Oh well, what are ya gonna do????

Maybe I will drop off the computer.:scared1: I still have NO sound but just hate the thought of not checking in. I wish I was good typer but I am NOT! You type fast don't you Pam????

Have a great day!
Where are you Sewer!??? I know that hannnasmoma and tinklvr are very busy. You too?

OH BTW I heard a rumor that free dining might go into October. Anyone else hear this? If true, I will have to reconsider the November trip!

Ahibird....... I know you're back!!!!!!!!!! I want to hear all about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone !!! Yes, Debbie, you caught me lurking... :rolleyes1

We got back yesterday afternoon, and we had an absolutely FABULOUS time.:thumbsup2

I promise to dish about the trip, but I've got to run right now. I will return - soon.

Missed you guys... Aloha - keahi

Glad to see you! Can't wait to hear about your trip!!! Crazy days, right??? We missed you!

Still here Deb! I'm attempting to just wait 'till I go "home" in July, but after reading probably too much on these boards I'm getting a little antsy. Just today I changed my transportation from the airport to WL (just to give me something to do while waiting). :confused3 I hope everyone at home is getting better, there was some kind of stomach bug around here a week ago, but all is well!

Glad you are good and still with us!
See everyone tomorrow~!

Welcome Back AhiBird!!!!! Can't wait to hear about your trip:thumbsup2
Sewer, please keep sharing - it keeps us excited, too!

Lisa, I hope your Grandma is still improving.

Pam, I told my DSIS to bring the Lysol in June! We are going to ask for the Grandstand - it's new, so there might not be any mold or anything yet!

HEY, LOOK! I GOT MY WINGS - I'M A VETERAN!!!!!

Pam - Thanks for the info. That sounds like a great deal for a room at the BC. I will have to try that next time.
Debbie - I think about trying to work a little to get some extra income but that is all I do is the thinking part.
Ahibird - It's nice to have you back. I can't wait to hear all about DL.
Tammie - My grandma is talking better now and able to chew on ice chips. That is improvement since she used to be too weak to talk or eat.

Thanks everyone for caring about me w/my grandma being sick. We are very close in my family and have visited her every other Sunday since I was young. She lives in the city, otherwise we would probably see her more.

Just wanted to leave a quick message to say I am going to actually really bring my computer in!:scared1: I need sound! Hopefully I will have access to another computer in the mean time but if I don’t I’ll miss you guys so much!!!!:sad1: Knowing I have access to you guys keeps me sain!

Hello, Ladies!!! :goodvibes

Ahi: Welcome Back. Glad you had a great time. When you have a chance tell us all about it.

Tammie: Ohhhhhh..the Grandstand looked REALLY nice!! It's also pretty close to the main area too. I saw some pictures of it here on the DIS. I keep my kids away from big play areas 2 weeks before we leave (i.e. Chick E, Cheese, the mall play areas, and Wal Mart ) I don't quarantine them to the house..just try to minimize the exposure to germs. So far it's worked!:thumbsup2 I also take a foldable potty seat in a Hefty slide lock freezer bag. My youngest DD tends to put her hands everywhere so the seat keeps her from doing that (of course we still wash hands and the seat). But if your grandkids are older than 4 or 5 they can pretty much not need that.

I'm getting anxious to go. Aren't you?

I think I am the last one here to go to WDW :sad1:

Debbie: What's up with your computer?

Sewer: Keep in touch!!!

Checked my airline reservations, wore a Hawian shirt, and deck shoes just to keep the summer feeling going!

Hi Guys!
I'm on my Dad's computer. My computer has NO sound (and yes I made sure the speakers were plugged in:rotfl2:). I finally just bit the bullet and took it in. I am guessing it will be back on Wednesdayish. I can't wait to watch some shows on-line, go to YouTube for WDW videos and listen to the WDW radio station for the first time!! Hopefully the computer place I took it to knows what they are doing.

DH and I met friends out for dinner last night. We had breakfast with the bunny this morning. Fun weekend!

Hope you all have a great weekend too!

On a Disney note...I still am undecided on when and where and how I want to go.... I must decide though!

Here's my dilemma.....Where should I stay the nights of June 3rd and 4th at WDW for my little side trip???? I just got ADRs for CRT at 4:20 on my 40th (June 4th) so that's set:banana: .
We want to go back for a week in the Fall so I can't spend too much there in June.
Opinions????

Did you ever stay at the Grosvenor? A friend of mine said she loves it there and it is right by DTD. If you are talking about the Disney resorts, we liked POR and CBR. At POR we liked the Plantation rooms. CBR seems better for young kids, IMO. The shallow pool is nice for your DS age, and for your DD. The food court has great Caribbean music and is so colorful. The beaches have fun playgrounds and there are always ducks around.
BTW, that's great that you got ADR's for the castle on your B-day. I'm sure you'll have fun no matter where you stay.

JUNE 4TH? THAT'S WHEN WE GET IN!

Ooooo, watching the travel channel yesterday really got me excited! :cool1: Sadly, I still have 3 months to go..... can anyone out there set their time machine for July 9th, 2007 for me? :confused3

16 days to go and hitting bumps in the road... YIKES!!

We are waiting patiently (yeah right) for our refund check. The car needed to be fixed last week. 2 of the kids are coughing again. I still have to finsih clothes shopping for DS & DH. I can't seem to find water shoes for DD that fit right.

I told DH I just need to get away from the house and WDW planning for a few hours to relax. Hopefully Wed night we will be able to go out for coffee together.

I am over thinking things again (no one here does that rigt?? LOL:lmao: )
