The cat's out of the bag! Here's how it happened:

I've been fighting the urge to post a ticker - I'm just so darn excited about this trip and wanted to see a daily countdown. Then I found the new ticker website so I decided to make one. I mean, it's not like my DD looks over my shoulder when I'm on the DIS, right? I've had the ticker added for about a week now and wouldn't you know DD comes home from school the other day; I get up to answer the phone just as I had posted and who do you think catches a glimpse of the computer screen? "Mom, what's this surprise trip with daughter?":rolleyes1

There was no getting out of it! But, I'm glad she knows now. She was so excited - she had tears in her eyes! And, being just like me, she wants input in the planning - she's already made out her planning sheet! I knew I would have never lasted until the night before to tell her, but I thought I could make it until the week before - oh well!

Dorothy, here, reporting live from Kansas! :scared1:

Cammie - that is an awesome story! I'm so excited for you!!!! :cheer2: How old is your DD? Or did I not pay attention to your siggie? That would be me....

OK, stupid DH is still at work!!!! It's only greens and yellows on the radar right now (hope that technical jargon isn't over your heads! :rotfl2: ) and I told him to get home cause there's all kinds of stuff behind it! That was 1/2 hr ago and he's just now leaving. Men!:confused3

Kara - This trip is with my youngest daughter, who just turned 12 on Wed. My 13yr.old daughter is special-needs, so when we take our annual trip to WDW most of my time is spent caring (& worrying) for her. My youngest and I rarely get to do those "mom-daughter" things - hence my planning of this trip in June (which I would love to make an annual thing also!)

Just purchased my airfare the other day so now the trip feels very real for me. Not crazy about the price I'm paying, but since Jan. the ticket prices have gone up. I was complaining about $300 for rt in Jan.; now they're up to over $400 on most airlines. I got two non-stop tix on SWA for $750 total. (and, yes, I did see the story about SWA flying with unsafe planes!:scared1: - sooo did not need to know that!)

So here's my itinerary:

June 22 - arrive in Orlando at 12:55pm
check-in at VWL; explore the resort (1st time staying there!)
6pm - dinner at Artist Pointe (WL)
after dinner - head to MK for evening EMH
(plan on staying until MK closing - 2 am! )

June 23 - sleep in (just a little)
spend a relaxing day at the pool;hopefully get a golden tan
head to DTD around 5pm; shop before dinner
dinner at 7:30 at Raglan Road; shop after dinner

June 24 - AK or MK(early EMH) for the day
dinner at 7:50 Chefs de France in Epcot
stay at Epcot until closing (evening EMH)

June 25 - Epcot for few hours in a.m
Walk over to the BW (HAVE to visit our FAVE resort!)
MGM for dinner/Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose - 4:50
Evening EMH at MGM - stay until closing

June 26 - AK or MK (whatever we didn't do on the 24th) for the day
Epcot for Le Cellier dinner at 8pm
Evening EMH at Epcot(love those!) - stay until closing

June 27 - Still undecided - pool? MK? Epcot?
Flight home departs at 6:45pm

Can you tell how much we love Epcot? We take advantage of the evening EMH; never seem to get out of bed in time for the early ones though - hope to,at least, make one early morning at MK since we're so close.

What do you all think?

Anyhow - wow we WILL be there the same time Erin - what day do you fly??

Tessa

We fly Saturday the 5th so 4 weeks tomorrow i can't believe it's nearly here it's been nearly 2 yrs since we were last there :yay: :yay: and we're doing a pirate: princess: party for the first time too
When do you fly??

And Kara i really hope you're all ok and home safe and sound take care xxxx

Cammie - your itinerary looks great!!!! The ADRs all look good, too. Sounds like you and I think alike!!! I do remember you mentioning before about your older DD and the reason for this trip. I'm sure it'll be a vacation you will BOTH cherish!

All is safe here.... for now. But I just got a call from DD's school nurse. Her ear is bleeding. She has tubes in her ears, and her ENT actually said that if they were still in there in April, he wanted to remove them. Well, hopefully he won't need to now! But I don't have a pediatrician yet! So I sent DH to pick her up and head to the ped that was recommended to us, and I will call to get the appt. And of course they are at lunch!!!! Can this day get any better?

However, with the exception of Bucky going outside every two hours last night, there have been NO doggie issues today! So that's a plus. And I'm a DIS Veteran now - so when does the tag fairy bestow upon me something obnoxious! I live for obnoxious! :rotfl:

Erin - We just got back from a weekend jaunt to P&PP - check out my quickie trippie! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1743466

We went solely for the party, now that we only live about 3 hrs from the World. It was great - I highly recommend it! Now I can't wait for MNSSHP and MVMCP!

When it rains, it pours! (literally!)

Anyway, if you get a tag before me, I will be very upset! Don't know how you get them, but, of course, I still want one!:rotfl:

And - can you tell I'm still feeling guilt about taking this trip w/out my older daughter? I feel if I keep explaining my reasoning, I will actually start to believe that we both deserve to go. I'm good at convincing my younger DD it's good to do - I just have to keep telling myself that!:guilty:

Wow, you guys have been VERY chatty ;). I don't log in for a couple of days and I'm PAGES behind. I'd better get busy catching up :surfweb:.

You absolutely should NOT feel guilty! Look at it this way... I'm sure you devote a lot of extra time and attention to your older DD, right? So now it's your younger DD's chance for undivided attention. And it's a much deserved break for you both, too!

A good friend of mine has a son who is severely bi-polar. He has been hospitalized for the past year and a half. He just turned 18. Prior to that, he was homebound as he couldn't handle the pressure of school, his sister (she's now 16) was literally afraid of him, and my girlfriend is 5 foot tall with heels, so she couldn't stop him. Her DH worked out of town and was only home on weekends. Once her son was hospitalized, she felt guilty for spending so much time with her DD, but when she realized how much of her DD's time she missed while caring for and worrying about her DS, she realized it was okay.

So stop feeling guilty and bring back a great souvenier for your older DD - who knows? Maybe she's looking forward to the break, too! :rotfl: Just kidding!

Hi Girls!
First off Kara STAY SAFE!!! I am glad the dog had a better day. Our dog wakes my dad up 1 to 5 times a night to pee. I always feel so bad for him! It's like having a newborn again. Just curious...weather permitting can't the doggie be outside most of the day?
Cammie...Don't feel guilty..it sounds wonderful. Sometimes I wish I could go with just DD and my Mom for no other reason then we would have a blast with little holding us back.
Hi Keahi! Who cares if you can't catch up. Just jump back in!
Erin...glad you are still with us.
As for tags....they aren't easy to get because the people handing them out really aren't going to be reading our thread. I got mine jumping into a nonsense thread about something dumb one Saturday night. I think it was about hating the popping of the biscuit can. I am not kidding. So unless you jump onto those kind of threads and start drunk posting...they are hard to get IMHO!

Also...I think it is hilarious that Tessa couldn't type Dick Van ****. The funniest part is they let her type the Dick but not the Dylke!!!!:rotfl2:

Thanks guys - made me feel better! And, I know my guilt will be a distant memory when I finally sit down on that plane and prepare for take-off. (still will buy older DD a very expensive souvenir, though!)

And, you're right, Kara - if she could talk, she'd probably being telling me to get out of her face already! She is, afterall, 13!

I have to admit - this whole thing went COMPLETELY over my head until I read your post, Debbie, and then went back & read Tessa's!

Too funny!

TGIF! Are Fridays tough for you guys too? I find myself so exhausted come Friday nite, I don't feel like doing anything! DD12 has a basketball playoff game and I'm fighting to keep my eyes open until then. Plus, it's supposed to start pouring tonite - no tornadoes though - should be grateful for that!

Wow, you guys have been VERY chatty ;). I don't log in for a couple of days and I'm PAGES behind. I'd better get busy catching up :surfweb:.

Yes, but you're in Hawaii, so you're already one up on us! :beach: :rotfl2:

Debbie - Bella is so frail that I don't think I could leave her outside. Our yard is not fenced, but if I chained her out I"m afraid some animal or even a hawk, could get her. We have wild boar, armadillos, and tons of deer in our neighborhood. We're all the way at the back of the subdivision, so there is no traffic, and lots of critters! Plus, we back up to a national forest! But when it's really warm, I do leave her on the screened porch - she likes that.

DD has an ear infection. The Dr pulled the tube out, and prescribed something for her. So DH and DD are heading to the pharmacy and the store right now. Hopefully to pick up something for dinner. I'm back on Jenny for the week! But I haven't had any of my snack allowances today, cause I think I wanna couple drinks tonight! Maybe in my tornado hole - looks like they are building up again! At least I won't be alone this time!

I've been trying to keep up, but you gals are making it tough for me.

Cammie... I wouldn't feel bad. I think you have to split time sometimes with your children. It just makes the reunion all that sweeter. But I do chime in and agree a nice expensive treat would help! Then again, I'm all about the treats! I don't know exactly your situation, but my aunt was special needs. I think you know when I say, they bless your life in more ways than you imagine. Kids are all special in their unique way... so I think one on one time with a child apart from the rest of the family is a good, special thing. NOW, my stance on this may change after my upcoming trip! :rotfl: No guilt though, 'cause it sounds like you are a wonderful mom!

Kara... I hope the storms pass soon for you. Those tornado radars are no fun to watch. Stay safe! Congrats on being upgraded to a DIS Vet too!

Well.... I got my cute plastic Mickey package in the mail. :goodvibes It had some things I wasn't expecting included. I have a $15 voucher for Planet Hollywood (great, since I'm not planning on DTD), and two glittery castle luggage tags (Woooh!) a round of mini golf and some other little freebies. Nice, but I hate they will go to waste. BUT, I'm very excited about going now!!!!

On the other hand, Mommy guilt is killing me. I am trying to wein DD so we can go on the trip. She isn't crazy about the idea at all. Top it off, she is cutting her top FOUR teeth at once. :sad2: Crying all the time. I feel like a horses rear since I'm trying to get this done so I can go to Disney. Oh well - there is always something to feel guilty about isn't there?

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I love getting that package in the mail!
Also, I nursed and know how you feel. The only thing is my kids didn't give me any trouble when I weaned. Sorry. Just do it! Sneak a little juice in there!

All of those things go to waste in my package too. We HATE PH it is awful. My DS is cutting his top teeth too. We just got done with the bottom ones. He never took to BF and now I am kinda glad.

Kara- I hope your weather works out okay

Oh DS was a breeze. I give DD water or juice, she'll drink it dry. Milk (and tried 2nd step formula too - that gets worse reviews) and she will take a sip, slap the cup and pitch it! :confused3 What is up with that attitude?

My two cents on DTD....
First let me say that I am a WDW souvenir addict. I have figured out that looking at the things I have bought from there gets me through to the next trip. Personal favorite are my WDW Christmas village, our WDW clothing items and picture frames to name a couple.
We never used to do DTD but then realized that they have the most variety in items. If it's for sale in WDW, DTD most likely has it. Keeping all that in mind plus the fact we found out (or should I say we realized) that we could get an extra 10% off in World of Disney @DTD if you use or show your Disney Visa we now go there in the beginning for the main souvenir shopping. AND I would be too embarrassed to even tell you what I spend on souvenirs for us! Lastly, I ship the stuff straight home from there. The 10% off usually covers the shipping and if you ship home they DO NOT charge sales tax.

You all have a Disney rewards card right?????? It's a must have for the Disney vacationer! If not let me refer you and we will both get 25.00 bucks in Disney Rewards!

Oh let me tell you Debbie, every time I see your siggie I crack up. That is SO my husband when I talk to him about Disney :rolleyes2 . :lmao:

Here's the weird thing...my DH never tells me I am on the computer too much but since he has been out of town I have been here non-stop! What's the deal with that? Today better be the last of this. I need to tend to the home & kids! Maybe I am the reason they are in so much trouble!!!!!!!!!
