Tessa- Things I pack in my carry on are things I cannot live without.

Usually:

T shirt
Underclothing
socks
Hairbrush

I feel like I can wear the same pair of shorts, but the other things I will not wear 2 days in a row. Toothpaste etc.. you can always get at the store. As for the hairbrush I always forget to bring one with me so I am stuck buying one while we are there.

Jillian - thanks for that - MUST remember the hairbrush - I also tend to forget and end up with "bed hair" after 9 hours on a plane - not a pretty sight!!!!

Thanks,
Tessa

Good Monday Morning!!! Looks like everyone got sick this weekend! I am so sorry! We have been very fortunate this year in our house. I really thought we'd all get something just from the climate change we experienced, but nothing (knock on wood!).

OK, y'all will love this - if suits this thread. Saturday night I had a dream that we were in Disney World with DH's family and nobody would follow our plan! They didn't want to go to the parks that we chose for a particular day, they were late for all the ADRs, and the MIL and FIL decided they were going to go home 2 days early because they weren't having any fun!!!! That really is a nightmare! :rotfl2:

Jillian - so help me, if DH ever came home and mentioned the house not getting cleaned, I'd be in prison! He's in this "decorating" mode as it is, and driving me nuts. He wants the house to look so nice but then leaves his junk all over! And he has yet to mop, scrub a toilet, change sheets, or dust since we've moved! He "likes" to vacuum since he got me a self-propelled vacuum cleaner! And his idea of doing laundry is washing and drying. Then he dumps the laundry basket on the bed for me to fold. Then he moves his folded clothes from the bed to the floor so he can sleep, and they stay folded neatly on the floor for a week or so. Drives me nuts!!!!!!!

Debbie - I'm so sorry your daughter is sick. Hope she is feeling better! I IM all the time but I"m on windows messenger. To IM with Dis members, do you have to be on Yahoo?

Tessa - You too are sick??? It's good that the credit card companies watch out for you. I had my ccard "cloned" a couple of years ago. DH noticed a charge for $250 on our back statement at Bloomingdales! I got a copy of the charge and it was for men's underwear (do they even make men's underwear worth that much???) and, get this.... the card had been swiped!!!! Well, knowing I had never been to Garden City, NJ, I disputed this and the gal at the bank told me that we run this risk whenever our card is out of our possession, like at a restaurant? The person keeps a small device in their apron, and probably swiped my card through it - it stored all my info and when they got home, they downloaed all my info onto a card with my number but their name on the card. Interesting, huh? So I'm a lot more watchful now, and nobody has charged their underwear to my card!

Pam - I used to work for Enterprise Rental Car, but from what I'm hearing, National has the best rates in Disney. I think they are even onsite. BTW, love your avatar! Feel better!

Tammie - Hope you feel better, too. I'm beginning to feel bad just being on this board!

Have a great week everyone!

Pleas feel sorry for me..............

This is why I crave a WDW ticker....

I will be back to catch up later....
MUST CLEAN!!!:laundy:

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: Hi Ladies! Fever's down to 100.1 from 104.3. Phew. Still clogged up though. I am such a wimp when it comes to getting sick. My mom isn't around to make me feel better and well my DH idea of making me feel better was asking if I can put the laundry away...huh?:scared: Which I responded by saying that if he wanted some clean skivees to wear next week he'd better do it himself. He was just joking, but I'm not in a joking mood.

My DD's 12th birthday party is this weekend so I am hoping she doesn't get sick. It's a swim party and we rented the whole place out and then we are going to her favorite Japanese Steakhouse afterwards and bringing along a few of her friends. It would be sad if she got sick.

My Valentine's rush is over. Oh..I forgot about MY Valentine! :lovestruc I'd like to send him something at work, what would be good for a guy? He works in a secured/classified area so whatever it is would be delivered to the front desk and they'll call him later or they'll call him right away and have the person wait. :confused3

Pleas feel sorry for me..............

sounds COLD over there - have a  to warm you up!!

my cold is starting to feel like it is goingaway at last, our temp is cold today -2C or 33F, lots of cold cold cold, but Orlando is 16C or 61F and it is only half past 4 in the morning there.... so I am still dreaming of sun and warmth in 54 days time!!

Or after sitting through Enchanted with the DDs- "I'm still dreaming of my true love's kiss" keeps going over and over and over and over and..... in my head aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhh - for all those who saw it and now have it going over in their head - SORRY!

Tessa

:lmao:
Can someone talk me down?

I am planning a trip for either late September, or early October 2009. (I want to get a trip in BEFORE my twins turn 3 on 10/12 2009) It is KILLING me that I can't book anything, or know anything concrete. I can't get DH to commit to anything either!! :scared1:

I have started saving....that I can control. :rolleyes1 I CAN'T WAIT to get my grubby hands on those 40% codes, or find out about free dining.
:cool2: Yes, I know that will be a loooooooooog wait.

Good Tuesday Morning!

Debbie - I DOOOO feel sorry for you! I was watching the weather channel and it looks so awful up north! But I miss those days, in a weird way. :confused3

Pam - So glad you're beginning to feel better. Here's some pixiedust: to keep the germs away from DD. I sent DH a cookie bouquet one year. He really liked that. And I just sent one to my nephew when he had the chicken pox - I found them online www.cookiepots.com. My sis said it was really cute when it got there. But order early if you want it there by Thursday. I'm thinking of getting my DH a "back facial." It's like a facial, but on the back - guess that was kinda self explanatory, huh? :upsidedow But I went to a new girl to have my eyebrows waxed, and it was the most relaxing thing!!!! I couldn't believe it, so instead of a massage, I thought I'd get that for DH - does that seem corny???

Tessa - Glad you are feeling better, too! If my weather is any indication, you will be loving life in 54 (?) days! Orlando seems to be about 5 degrees warmer than it is here in Jacksonville, and it's been in the 60's and 70's here all month! Oh, the one thing I never forget for my trips to WDW - baby wipes! They are great stain removers (better than the Tide pen IMHO), plus they are cooler and more refreshing to use than plain napkins or paper towels. I haven't had a baby for quite some time, but I still keep them with me! I also keep bandaids and a small tube of Neosporin ointment. DD is a clutz and she's always tripping over her shadow so that has come in handy, too. And, uh, er, Prep H, "just in case." :rolleyes1 Never had 'em before I got pregnant, and now I seem to get them whenever I travel!!! Yuck!!!

Jenny - I've never been to WDW in Sept or Oct but I had friends who honeymooned in October and said the crowds were very sparse - they loved it! Good luck with the planning - and :welcome: to the DIS!

I was so proud of myself - I actually cooked dinner last night! It turned out so good that DH thought it came out of a box (that should tell you something about my cooking! :lmao: ). I made chicken and dumplings, good ole comfort food. But by the time he got home, DD and I were at the fitness center. I cleaned up everything except the casserole dish it baked in, and the lazy bum couldn't even store the leftovers in the fridge after he was finished??? AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! I told him I'm done cooking for him. He can eat PB&J for all I care tonight! DD and I always go out on Tuesdays because DH doesn't get home until 10 or 11 so there won't be leftovers tonight! It's so frustrating, too, because we are trying to teach DD about responsibility, pickin up after herself, not procrastinating, etc. And then she sees him do this.

Oh, well, guess I should get some work done today. Y'all have a great one!

Hi everyone! I've joined the masses, and have gotten sick! DD14 was home from school Mon & Tues with the cold/sinus/sore throat crud, but felt a little better and went back to school on Wed & Thurs. Fri she woke up w/both of her ears hurting, so I got her into the dr, and she had an ear infection in both ears! She stayed in bed all weekend, and is slowly feeling better this week. I have caught the cold stuff, and am so hoping that yesterday was my worst day. There's no time to be sick! I've been having to take off work to take DD14 to the dr. DD10 to the dentist, DD10 BACK to the dentist tomorrow because she had 2 small cavities, myself to the dentist tomorrow at the same time, and DH took DD14 to her dentist appt this AM, and SHE has to go back and get a cavity filled. I had wanted to take off 1/2 day Thurs for DD10's Valentine's Day party, but with all of this, I really don't think that I should. I feel torn and cannot decide. Next year is her last year of class parties, and I want to go to all of them that I can. I was at the Christmas one, and have been asked to help run the end of year party, so I guess it would be OK to miss this one. It's not as eventful as those two. Whew! Thanks for listening to that rambling!!! You all are the best!! I think it's the cold medicine. I feel very speedy! I don't like the way the meds make me feel. I'd almost just rather deal w/the symptoms themselves!!

I hope that all of you other sickos are starting to feel better!!:lmao: Seriously. I hope that all of you are starting to feel better!!

Welcome to our craziness (and friendliness!), Jenny! It's fun to just think about it, and plan it out in your head, once your DH is on board!

I will not be planning a WDW trip any time soon, but I really want to be planning a trip of some kind. DH and I are overdue for a couples trip. We love to go to Las Vegas, so more than likely, that's where we would go. We have so many home improvement things that we have wanted to get done for so long, and now have to do - my kitchen floor is pulling up! and our master bath shower is cracking, DH and the DDs are wanting to get a boat, and DD14 will be driving after she turns 15 this summer - insurance, and a 3rd family vehicle. When we travel, my IL's keep the kids, but we have to board our 2 dogs. I just really always have to justify to myself spending the money before I book. Once I book, I am so very excited.

Kara - I don't cook much either. I try to cook a couple of things on the weekend that we can eat during the week, and the other nights we get takeout or go out. By the time we get home from work, fix dinner, then clean up, it's late! I don't want to spend my evenings like that. I tend to do way more than DH in the cooking/cleaning/finances/etc., etc. areas, too. I get tired of cleaning and picking up after DH and DDs. Once in awhile, it really gets to me and I go on a tirade. After that, I'm OK for awhile. I tend to try to do everything myself, and have with DH from the get go. We've been together for 22 years, and it hasn't changed, so I don't think it ever will. I sometimes wish I would have done it different. I hear that same complaint from a lot of my girlfriends.:confused3

Tessa - We haven't seen Enchanted yet:scared1: , so you haven't infected me! I really want to see it.

Pam - I think that the cookie boquet sounds like a great idea for your Valentine. Can't you get a great deal on candy?:rotfl2:

Larry - We're just having fun, and don't know what we'd do if we didn't obsess about something!

Debbie - I wish that I could send some warmer weather your way! We are getting a little bit of a cool front today though. It's supposed to be in the 50's. I am not being smart. I really would like it to be cooler here. It's winter!!!

Hi to Tammie, Jillian, and everyone else that's reading!

OK. I am done rambling, and done with lunch. Have a great day, all!!!

:grouphug:
Pam2

It's Tuesday? It feels like it should be Thursday by now.

You will all be happy but not surprised to know that after work yesterday my house was a disaster and it felt great to say "Oh you didn't get any cleaning done?" Also my DH called my mother and Dsis (14) to come take care of my son. Dinner wasn't ready I had to go pick it up and my house look like a tornado had hit it. It felt great to spend the day in 19 degree weather taking care of "sick" and I use that term loosely people all day and had to come home to UgH...

I am so glad to hear everyone is getting a bit better and to Pam i'm sorry you are feeling yucky.

Kara- I don't get to cook much either my DH doesn't get home until 6 or 7 and we are both exhausted. I do try to cook at least 3 days a week.

Hi to everynoe else!

HI everyone!

Welcome Jenny! Take a deep breath - climb down one step at a time, and convince your DH it's time to book!!!! Then have fun! We would love to plan with you!

OOPs Part 2.

Pam2, and Tessa, sorry you're sick, too! I didn't think we were "catchy" over the boards! :goodvibes

Pam, I've always wanted to send a belly dancer or something to my DH, but she couldn't get on base, so it would create a situation...:rolleyes1 I have sent a balloon bouquet before.

Debbie, sorry you're :cold:

Kara, sorry you're cooking wasn't appreciated. Hope you have a happier rest of your week!

My update: I was still sick yesterday, so DH made me go to the doc - beginnings of pneumonia, which really hurts today - I'm on anitbiotics and cough w/ codeine. cancelled my appointments for today - I'm going to try to get more rest. Had to go to my meeting last night - DH was  He's out of town tonight for a game - I think I'll go to bed and let DDIL make dinner again.

Talk to all of you soon!

I think I need to send all you folks some proper home cooking- my hubby would freak if we didn't have home cooked food at LEAST 6 nights a week - but I do only "work" an hour a day....

So - who's for Lasagne? Tuna Bake, Fish Pie, Pork Casserole, Chicken Stew, Fish cakes, Meatballs, chicken fajitas , ratatouille, mushroom risotto, pork chops, pizza, and much much more... , - all freshly home made by moi!
Must go mix last night's left over mashed potato with some cod, herbs and peas and make fish cakes with it all for tonight's "gastronomic delight" (with sauted potatoes, broccoli and sliced green beans).

Sometimes I wish we could just get pizza delivered, but then the kids just say - "euuugh it's not as good as your's mummy" which does make me feel good, but it is that double edged sword of just wanting a night off sometimes....

But we have a holiday to pay for and look forward to, and I don't mind toooooo much.......

Lots of sun today - but only 40F so need to wrap up warm... hope everyone is getting better...
Tessa

Good Wednesday Morning (so far it feels like a Monday!!!) -

I learned something very important about Florida yesterday - when it rains here, it RAINS!!! I'm used to 10-15 minutes showers in SC and also when I lived in Ohio and Illinois and Missouri. But down here? Oh no! It poured HARD for at least an hour yesterday, and of course it started as DD and I were coming out of the Dollar Store (had to pick up my Disney travel goodies!). I have a hard time driving in the dark anyway, and then you throw in a torrential downpour?? It was not pretty. But the funny thing was watching the dogs outside when we got home. Our little Italian Greyhound mix just hovered by the door and shook. I finally let her in (no, she didn't even do her business!), then I let out the lab puppy - I literally had to toss him out in the yard :rotfl: where he sat down and proceeded to cry. It was pitiful and the house stank like wet dogs all night! Neither one of them would even do anything outside until I went all the way out with them and hovered over them to keep them semi-dry (couldn't use an umbrella cause of the lightning, but there I was risking life for my stupid dogs!!). And in Florida, homes don't have gutters :confused3 so the only gutters we have are in the front of the house because our driveway is pavers so I guess it has something to do with the sand not washing away or something like that. Anyway, walking out our back door in a rain storm is like walking under Niagara Falls! It's really weird.

Anywho.... heading back to SC this weekend, MIL is excited cause she knows I have another Disney "surprise" for them - I made each family notebooks with DDP cards, personalized invitations for each ADR, luggage tags, car magnets, tip envelopes, mousekeeping envelopes (even though I know we'll be the only ones to tip mousekeeping!), and helpful packing hints. Plus, I have t-shirts for them, and I'll give all SIL's stuff to them to take to her next time they see them before the trip. I made nephew an autograph book, and fun books for the car. I know that MIL appreciates it all and I've had fun doing it, so I guess that's all that matters, huh?

Tessa - you made me hungry reading about all your home cooked meals! So I'm sitting here eating a whole bag of caramel rice cakes!

Y'all get better out there in Disland - pneumonia is nothing to play around with - I had it 2 years ago and I kept trying to go to work and just made it worse. So treat it NOW and you'll heal much faster!

Jillian - I think it's hilarious that DH had to call in the reinforcements while you were gone! :lmao: Mine does the same thing!

Until next time...

Hi Everyone…
I know I am about to sound very melodramatic in this post but I am GOING OUT OF MY MIND!!!! The doctor said DD has to stay home until she returns to the doctor on Friday (that will be two whole weeks of no school), the temperatures are frigid to say the least and now we are getting snow again. I can’t remember the last time I felt this claustrophobic in my own home. I am crawling out of my skin. DH is sick himself (but still working) so he is not any help to me and my P’s downstairs don’t want to be around all the germs…..not that I blame them. Once people hear pneumonia they avoid you like the plague. The kids are hanging on me like magnets and I know I am supposed to appreciate and cherish this but I just can’t right now. They are acting fine (healthy) even though there is a constant flow of boogers from each of them. I know I must sound horrible but I need some break in this winter hell! I need to clean and I have been avoiding sitting at the computer for any length of time but since both kids are home they are literally destroying the house in the rooms I finish. I should take pictures. It is pathetic. I have come to the conclusion that I absolutely love living in Chicago but it is more the location and what it has to offer. It is for the neighborhood I live in and the friends and family. It is NOT for the weather. I have decided I would honestly give up the 4 seasons if I had to. I would miss snow in December for Christmas but then I am over it!
Aren’t you sorry I posted! I am such a downer right now.

GET HEALTHY EVERYONE (tttessa (tessa),Magicfor2 (Tammie),Pbharris (Pam ),
Lovin Life ( Pam2)....did I miss anyone)!!!!!!:wizard: Please relax and take care of yourselves the best you can. Moms aren't allowed to be sick ya know!
Where is Camster0307
???????
Or DisneyOhana (Lisa)
I hope everything is OK with her!
karajeboo(Kara)
....glad you are safely out of the rain! That's your bad winter, right? Bad rainfall???
I am impressed with your WDW preparation and gifts! You are good!!!! I always have high hopes to do stuff like that but rarely can pull it off these days. The bad thing is the evil SIL won't appreciate any of it, right?
soontobewed07 (Jillian)…. I am glad you got your moment. No matter how wonderful or not the DH's are they really are clueless IMO. My DH is a wonderful, hard working man but WOW he can drive me crazy!!!!
Welcome Jenny....We are all kind of dealing with a lot of illness right now but we would love for you to stick around. I am needing a ticker bad myself!!!!
Ahibird (keahi) Don’t COMPLETELY leave us for the DCL boards!
HI !!!!! Sewer &
SilverMickey and my other pals out there lurking!

WOW! Tessa and Kara! Are you all for hire? What you do sounds wonderful! I would cook a lot more and do a lot more projects like that if I didn’t work full time and have such a long commute. Your families are very lucky!!!

Tessa – You were making me so hungry reading about your gourmet dishes! I didn’t know that ratatouille was an actual dish. I thought it was a Disney movie, and a made-up dish! What an honor that your DDs like your food betther than take out pizza! My DDs beg for take out pizza. Unfortunately, they like the junk food better than home cooking.

Kara – Your WDW goodies sound awesome!! I hope that your family is appreciative of what you do. Forget about SIL. I think that you went over and above the call of duty for your doggies! Our little one does not want to go out when it is cold outside. I have to nudge her out the door and she does her business really quick! I can’t say that I blame any of them at all. Can you imagine?

Debbie – I am so sorry!! Keep your chin up! Cheer up! :flower3: I was feeling so bad for you, but have to admit that I cracked up when I read “flow of boogers”. Oh, the visual I had!! :rotfl2: I hope that spring arrives quickly for you and that everyone gets well.

Tammie – You take care of yourself!!! Don’t work so hard when you are sick. Your DH is right to be mad. I think that we must think that we are invincible. We need to slow down once in awhile too, and take care of ourselves. (I keep remind myself of that, too!)

Jillian – I think that many DHs do that – call in for help when they have the kids alone for any extended period of time (longer than an hour!). Now that my DDs are older, and are fully capable (although they don’t often do it!) take care of themselves, DH doesn’t call for help, but I always get tickled that he does call his mom on the rare occasions that I am gone overnight, like he needs to be recognized for his efforts. We can just let them think that (hee, hee!).:lmao: I think that us moms deserve gold medals and much more for what we do and are capable of!! :thumbsup2 I just hope that they never have to experience life without us!!

Hi to everyone else!!! :) It’s hump day, and it’s almost over!, another day closer to the weekend!:yay:

Hi Everyone!

Debbie - sorry you're having a bad day. You can tell us all about it. :grouphug:

Tessa & Kara! It's so nice you love to cook! I don't like to, but we have decided not to eat out much - saves money and we eat less calories! So DDIL and I kind of take turns cooking - she is learning from me, and I like having the help. Sometimes we just can't figure out what to make, though. I didn't know Ratatouille was really a dish - what is it????

Jillian! Tell your DH you appreciate him, and he will do more and more for you!

Pam, Pam2, Sewer, Lisa, Keahi,...everyone else! Hi

I'm feeling much better, however I need a nap, so guess I'll take one :)

Debbie...your DD has pneumonia? Poor girl. I know exactly how you feel..going through it right now too. Was home all week with DD (last week) and this week I am sick, but still have to do what us moms gotta do. My DD picked up a whining habit, but it's got to stop, now. Hang in there.
