Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

HOly crap, Renee! You're a mess right now!!! Can't they change up the BCs to something else?

As for your mother, that is such a tough call. I'd just make sure that you are with Nicolas every time he is at their house for awhile. That way you can monitor what she is allowing him to do but he can still see her that way.

Monsters in the closet, huh? :sad2: It's amazing you've turned out so "normal" - and it doesn't sound like she listens to you at all when you try to talk to her about this kind of stuff.

Have fun in Buckeye country!! Is Carlos watching both kids while you're gone?

Welcome to the thread. It is nice to have a fellow scrapbooker who can understand how big CKU was! :lmao:
HI everyone!: I'm new to this thread. You seem like a tight group, so nice to see everyone cares so much about each other!

I'm hopping on this thread because I'm not sure if I'm a control freak (who am I kidding), but I WORRY about EVERYTHING! Especially on vacations, because it is all in my hands. But the worst part is that DH doesn't always like the way I plan things and will complain - but won't offer to help plan either! Anyway, planning my first family trip to WDW in just over a month and here are my biggest fears... Does anyone have any suggestions to help with any of them?

1. DH and kids won't like the food at the restaurants where I've made reservations. (All are very picky and I can't please everyone!)
I took my very picky son with me for 3 nights. We ate at CP - twice, WCC, TH, CM, and the Commessary as well as the AS food court You'd be totally shocked how they understand picky eaters and have them taken care of. I'd seriously not worry.

2. We'll be rushed or put out trying to get to the reservations I've made and it will make DH miserable. (He's not at all happy that we have to make "reservations" to every sit down meal and then aren't even guaranteed to be seated when we arrive...)He will be when he isn't standing in the long lines waiting like the other people! My DH is the same, but I think he'll live.

3. Someone, or worse yet, all of us, will get sick or even hurt! DD broke her arm 2 days before our last vacation! And we're going in November and it seems the kids always get sick then at some point - usually a bad month for colds for us. One good thing is that we're all sick right now - does that decrease our odds for November?!Ditto to what Tammie said!

4. We won't see as much as I'd like. Ok, I guess all first timers have that fear. I don't want to do it all, but really want all 3 kids to see a lot of what they love. And with DS at age 9 and both DDs ages 6 and 4, their interests vary a lot. We have 7 days in the parks, but I don't want to rush and want to enjoy ourselves. DH has no intentions of going along with any tour plans to avoid lines and crowds, so I'm afraid we'll be roaming aimlessly or standing in long lines with a miserable DH.Four days - both our first times. We (me and my DS - 4) went only to AK - saw a fraction of it, MK and DHS for a couple hours. It is hard to get your head around how much there is to do there, but I'm just a fan of pick your must dos and consider all else gravy.

5. The car ride will be horrendous! DH is only going for me and the kids, it just not his thing. But he'll be doing most of the driving, so I'm worried about how bad it'll get in the two 8 hour driving days it'll take to get there.Ours would be 13 hours, so we are flying in May. That is a long drive. DVDs will keep them busier than you'd think though. We just went to the beach with the 4 yr old and 18 month old and it was 8 hours each way. The kids did really well and we only stopped for lunch

6. And on every vacation I worry that I will forget something extremely important - who doesn't?!They think of EVERYTHING!

7. They won't have adjoining rooms for us, even though they've guaranteed it. We're staying at Pop Century.Yeah, I'd be nervous on that one too.

8. We'll lose our tickets/room passes or whatever you call them these days.

9. My camera will get lost, stolen, or broken. I'm a scrapbooker and this is our first family trip to WDW - ENOUGH SAID!I almost lost my PHOTOPASS card. SO I highly recommend writing your name and number on it and taking a picture of it, or writing those numbers down somewhere safe - lke a passporter you leave in your room. I just tore out the park maps to take with us.

10. ONE OF THE KIDS WILL GET LOST!!!:scared: I got a "dog tag" made for Nicolas and told him to take it out of his shirt and show it to anyone with a DIS tag if he were lost. I researched it quite a bit and they are really trained to handle that sort of thing. I also bought wrist leashes. :rolleyes1

I'm sure the list could go on if I keep thinking about it long enough. I am so excited :yay: about this trip and so scared  at the same time - HELP!!!
I think you will have a fun trip though. That reminds me - I need to get a little more moving in the planning dept for May :headache:

Joyfulscrapper, one other thing. OK, maybe more than one.....

I ordered rubber id bracelet for my DD before our big trip in May - because we were with a larger group, including my inlaws who are really scatterbrained, I was worried about her. It has her name, and both mine and my husband's cell phone numbers on there. She wears it on her ankle cause her wrist is so tiny.....
:
Do you have the info where you got it still?? I'd like to get the kids one.

Hi Girls ... How are you all?

I know i've been gone ages although a few of you ladies found me on facebook :)
I have just been sooooo busy its just crazy ... I am going back to college next week to do a business course as my friend and i are starting our own painting and decorating business ... we've been doing it for free to fam and friends for just tooooo long now ;)

As you can see i have a new ticker yayayayay although i have just found out that the Harry Potter area in IOA may not be open in time, which the kids will be devastated about so i'm really hoping it works in my favour hahahaha!! Anyway we're not staying in hotel after all (but thanks all for your great advice) as there are now 12 of us going .. i know we don't do it small hey hahahaha!!!

Anyway i am back properly and have missed you all ... haven't read back on anything so forgive me xxxx
Welcome back - congrats on the class and new trip coming up! :cool1:

Holy cow! Nice to come back on and see an oldie, but a goodie: welcome back Erin! We missed you! And - - on planning another WDW trip!

So back from the dentist. Can't feel my nose, my lips or the whole right side of my face. What I can feel though is pain and soreness in my tooth! WTH?:headache: They had to give me THREE shots of novacane; I took 800mg. of Advil before I went in; and they me a 1000mg of Tylenol when they were done. I can't even imagine what I'm going to feel after this numbness wears off. Dentist said the tooth was infected and she drained alot; was actually pleased with how much she cleaned out. But she didn't want to finish completely because she knew I was uncomfortable. But the time I go back next week, the antibiotic should have everything cleared up and it won't be as bad. I'm so glad I really don't have anywhere to go until Friday - I do look pretty hideous!:scared:

I'm going to lay down for a little while; will catch up later! (I better freakin' lose weight after all of this is said and done; really haven't been able to eat much! )
:headache: SO SORRY for you! I've got to have that done soon too. :headache: :headache: LOVE that you make it sound so lovely and pain free! :rotfl: Seriously, hope you are feeling better!

Thanks so much, Tammie & Kara!!! Sometimes it just helps soooo much to hear someone else tell you how it can all work out. :flower3:

About the EMH debate, I've already decided that we will NOT be going to the parks with them. There are a couple of reasons for this... My kids are going to be overwhelmed no matter what on our first trip and I think hopping to another park will be just too much right now. Also, because of the extra cost of the parkhopper ticket, we went with the base ticket. I can't see hopping enough to make it worth it, not with the kids this age. And since we won't be hopping, I don't want to be in the park where everyone else is taking advantage of the EMH. I also don't think my kids (or me or DH) are going to be able to either get up early enough for EMH or stay up late enough for them. Maybe on our next trip, but not this time around. So I've planned which parks to go to on which days according to which ones do NOT have EMH.

Oh, we are going Nov. 5- 13th, so you think the crowds should be managable? It is "Jersey week" and over Veteran's day, though.

And we will have a car, so should we drive to the parks each day rather than take the buses? I hear the buses can be slow and round about. If we drive we can just head back to the hotel or off to our ADR if it is out of the park.

Here are the places I have booked ADRs for our stay...
Hoopty Do Revue (on the day we'll be in MK)
Crystal Palace character dinner (another day in MK)
Akershus (Norway) Princess dinner (our 1st day in EC)
San Angel Inn (wasn't 1st choice, but Le Cellier was booked, 2nd day in EC)
Planet Hollywood (last day, unplanned as far as parks go)
Sci-Fi Drive-in (MGM day)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (AK day)

I'm a little worried about how long it will take to get to Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge from MK and AK. How much time should we allow to make it in time for our ADR?

Thanks again for all your great advice!!!
We did the AK to WCC too! Maybe that is a CF/WW thing? It worked out fine. We actually arrived pretty early. Our ADR was for 5:40 and we were there at 5. They seated us early but there wasn't any good hijinks going on until about 5:40. One warning - Nicolas filled up on the Milkshake before his kids meal came. That place had an amazing kids menu for a picky eater though. Seriously his best meal - best uneaten meal. :rolleyes1

You know, we did EMH last June and did get alot done really early - it worked great! I guess I was quoting TGM, and our previous trip was to do the base tickets and skip the EMH - worked great in Oct. That is what I'm planning again this time, since we don't have kids.

Oh, I'm getting a headache thinking about your ILs! :lmao:
:worship: Have a gret time Tammie! I hope you have the best weather and get lots of R&R. Take some Lactobicillus with you to take to ward away the touristas! :)

Kara - POOR ALLY! Didn't realize it was tomorrow. I hope that everything goes well!

Jillian - Hope you are having a good day! :flower3:

Laura - I hope that Tim is feeling better and YOU are getting a bit of normal stuff going on!

Okay, Caught up again! :cool1: I have to pack today, and clean, and laundry, and feel miserable, and and and...

I ordered a second wave of tupperware from Debbie's party. It comes on SAT when I'm not home. Great - not that I"m trying to "HIDE" it, but I just don't want to hear Carlos' B***** about it. You know? Oh well. Is what it is. I got that meat marinader. My SIL swears that it will not let the smell leak out into your fridge. We make this Adobo seasoning which is garlic based - and you can imagine how that fridge smells. :scared:

Monsters in the closet, huh? :sad2: It's amazing you've turned out so "normal" - and it doesn't sound like she listens to you at all when you try to talk to her about this kind of stuff.

Have fun in Buckeye country!! Is Carlos watching both kids while you're gone?
Yeah - remember that time when we first started talking about her and you said can't you take her out for a glass of wine and talk it over and I said... :rotfl2: !

Carlos says the same thing about me being "normal". I just learned a lot of "I want to do the opposite" things growing up! :)

I am a mess. I'm abandoning the idea all together. This past cycle wasn't as bad as past ones, so maybe my body is trying to regulate itself. I think I'm going to give it a month - if not I will ask for something else, but since it is only to lighten the flow and lessen cramping, I'm not too concerned. AT this point the treatment is so much worse than the problem. I just want to go back to "normal". My face NEVER breaks out and I look like a teenager! :scared:

And for BSIL! RUB IT IN. SCRUB IT IN FOR THAT MATTER! :laundy:

Did you ever get your check?

I'm back...................................
:guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:
I turned on Live 365 and started to cry!

Oh, yeah. Carlos is watching both kids. Nicolas has soccer pictures and a game, so I"m all freaked about getting everything ready. Last time I was gone I came home to find they had learned how to do "whipped cream" shots as well as "cheese in a can shots". :rolleyes1 One big frat party here, I'm sure! :rotfl2: At least he does feed them fruit! :rolleyes1

Tammie!!!!
Have an awsome trip!

I will be catching up later I hope. I missed you guys. I hope everyone is OK!

I'm down to just the one ticker now!!! So I'm checking on a weekend in early December just to see the lights, and now having much luck. I really wanted to stay at WL - I thought it would be so pretty at Christmas - for just one Saturday night, but all that is available is concierge and I'm NOT willing to pay $400 for one night!!! :scared1:

Wait, I can get a 1 BR at the Poly for nearly $900 for one night! Deal! :rotfl2:

This is crazy. The Contemporary is $996 for ONE NIGHT!!! I thought we were in a recession. Jeff just commented last night that we'll probably see low attendance at Disney for the next year or so. NOT!

Try $383 for a suite at CBR - that's all that's available! I wonder if it's because I'm checking into just one night and they're jacking the rate up to discourage that.

Wait, just got CBR for one night Dec 13th for $169. That might be it.

OK, that Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort has a special - 2 BR/2 BA condo for $159/night with a 2 night minimum!!! I hate to say it, but I might do that. We could save a bit of money on dining this way, too. It is right across the street from CBR, and right smack in between MGM and DTD. We only want to do MGM for the Osborne lights and MK for the Christmas decor. Maybe Epcot - who am I kidding, of course Epcot!!!! I need to talk to Jeff tonight, this might be the way to go this time....

Debbie - you do not have a problem. It is a great addiction!!! Oh, I forgot to tell everyone where I met you - wasn't it in the bushes??? :rotfl2: Everytime I walked down the paths in MK, and the wind blew the bushes, I thought, "that darn Debbie must be hiding in there!"

I hate being home, too! We had a marvelous time but it was so short! Not sure if I like doing one full week once a year, or about three 2-3 day trips. It's a tossup.

The economy does have me a little freaked out right now. So there goes my DVC AGAIN!!! Jeff just keeps getting lucky that there's something to stop us each time. Cause he's about ready to do it, until we think about it too much! :headache:

Renee - no check yet. And I'll never get it. Snot head BSIL! And I love the idea of whipped cream shots!!!! Except I like a little Baileys in mine! :rotfl2:

Well I guess he is making sure he they are getting their dairy. Still doesn't beat Beth telling her Kindergarten teacher that she knows how to tap a keg! yeah I wanted to die. she saw us open the ROOTBEER Keg at the block party. :rotfl: I'm a great mom who is teaching her wonderful life skills.

I have friend who has a time share at Bonnet Creek. She loves it. They took a "tour" of POP and used the buses one day :rolleyes1

Debbie - did you see our pic? Couple o DIS hotties! :rotfl2:

Laura - OMG! I can't believe she told her teacher she knows how to tap a keg!!! :lmao: That is too much!

No I have to catch up! What page?

OMG! Ally is walking around the house saying "*****" over and over again.
1.gif
She just told me that the dog's butt was red and looked like a shark's tooth. I swear I couldn't make this stuff up. I figured he got excited when she gave him a treat. So I said, "you mean his *****?" And she's like "yeah, that's it - *****. ***** ***** *****." I can't correct her though cause she's right!

Wait a minute! I can't say p***s on here? I thought it was right to teach your kids the correct words for anatomy? Maybe I should have said peepee. :rotfl2:

Renee - Ok, I missed something. What's all this talk about BC and regulating cycles? What are you doing? I thought you were on a ton of meds for your sinuses. I think I missed something.

As for sending Nicholas over to your mom's - and this is coming from someone who's not overly-fond of her own mother - but I wouldn't do it anymore. I know you don't want to deprive her of time with her grandson, but what good is it if he's terrorized when he gets home because she's breaking some of your rules? If you can't trust that she'll abide by your guidelines for your children, then tell her if she wants to see the kids, she needs to do it at your house. It's a sad situation for sure but one that exists because of her stubborness so don't feel bad about it.

(Geez - I just re-read that and I know I sound like a cold-hearted b****; but I just haven't had good experiences with my own family. Take what I say with a grain of salt!)
