Hey, you know I"m not going to argue with Disney - it's a 3 hr drive! And since I hate to fly, that works for me!!!

Personally, I think we could all have fun in a field in the middle of the country. If we have a cooler filled with some adult beverages! :rotfl2: And no husbands or children!

Hi all. Been away for awhile. Been busy with the kids and activities all summer. Plus was sad we had to leave Disney behind. I aalways want to turn around and go right back.

First Pam - Do you do trip reports? I hope that you all had a great time! Are you enjoying your candy business?

Pam2

I second that!! We usually plan our trips 2 years out, and many of you/us have trips planned already. Jan 09 might be way too soon. What about Jan 2010, and we'll seriously do it - save and plan. That would be a total blast!!!

Pam, is it seriously 103 there????? And I thought WE were hot right now!

It is, and my poor baby started marching practice today. 9-11am to ease them into it. 2 kids passed out! Next week, it's 7am-1:30pm AND 7-9pm.

I'm melting!!:scared:

I just plotted a majority of us on a US map. We're scattered! Are Cammie and Jillian close? It looks close on the map, but then MA is small on the map!

We're about an hour from each other. But don't even THINK of picking Mass. as our meeting place! I want to get on a plane and go somewhere warm!

Well, I am headed out! I'm taking the girls to see Mamma Mia tonight, going to see it Sunday w/girlfriends. I planned the second one first, but felt bad knowing that DDs wanted to see it too, and DH is going fishing tonight - in this scorching heat! WTH? Can't figure it out. Yes, I know he's going fishing because he stinks and is flilthy when he gets home.

Well, I vote for a meet in Jan 2010 - I know it seems far away, but it will be here before we know it, and isn't planning most of the fun? Boy, will we burn thru the pages!

What do you all think? Can we pull it off? I challenge us!pirate:

Have a good night Pam! Wish I was seeing Mama Mia; we saw the stage show and loved it! Lauren is going to a drive-in tonite with friends to see it; the mom invited Amanda and I to come along but I want to let her rest until I'm more confident she's feeling better.

Can't wait to hear what you think!

I'd be in for Jan.'10 - long weekend!

Or........we could do a long weekend in Sept.'09 during the F&W festival. Now wouldn't that be fun?:cool1: And we wouldn't have to worry about winter weather possible interfering with travel plans.

My honest vote on Jan & Feb is that is the only time of year we get ice. And Tornados happen a lot her during that time too. Being a nervous flyer, my preference would be to not do that.

BUT... If that is what everyone decides, then I'll roll with it. I'm good like that! :rotfl:

September would be okay for me too. Our Soccer season starts Sept 1, so I'd rather it be after the first game. Other than that, I'm flexible. I veto drippy hot months of July and August. I don't like to be miserable.

Otherwise, bring it on!

So here is the conclusion to the saga of Mia's room...

Mia got up, saw the pictures on the computer and went "WOW! PRINCESS" Plain as day - she said it for the first time. Wow's been in her vocabulary for a while though. SO... me being the pushover mom that I am, I decided to go with the princess bedding for this limited time, and do a nice quilt for her twin bed. Plus, the princess set was 1/2 the price of most bedding quilts. Except the one I wanted that was out of stock & discontinued. We'll see how it al lcomes together.

Jillian - thanks for the RH link. I really do like that set you had on the first page. I'm going to do something like that. I will post pics when I get it finished.

We had a nice time at dinner. I actually had two Martinis. Hardly ever do I get the opportunity to finish even one drink! Definately a good night!

Okay off to clean. Nothing like a good mess by the kids to bring you back to reality!

oohh! a trip.. I think I may be able to pull one off if we plan out enough. Does anyone have TGM that goes out until Oct '09? I loved Oct when we were there 10 yrs ago.

Don't worry Pam I'm a POP fan too.

Jan 2010? I'm in!

Sept F&W Festival? I'm in!

October? I'm in!!!

I'm totally game WHENEVER!!! If anybody opts to drive, and comes down I-95, my house makes a good stopover point!!!

OK, so the inlaws arrive yesterday and FIL has some sort of sciatic nerve issue. He can't sit down, his butt and leg are causing him severe pain. So we finally convinced him to go to an urgent care place to get some relief.

The problem is that he had his 3, 4, 5, 6 vertebrae fused together 9 years ago, after an accident involving a garbage can. Seriously. If he hadn't been so badly injured it would be funny. Who am I kidding? It's still funny!!! His nickname was Oscar the Grouch for awhile there. Anyway, he has permanent nerve damage from that and he's on all kinds of meds, so he has to be careful what he takes. Anywho.... so Jeff drove them to get checked out. Hopefully he just needs a muscle relaxant or something until it gets worked out.

So, at least Ally and I have the house to ourselves for a couple of hours! I may lay back down for awhile, I was up at 6:15 this morning! WTH? It's Saturday!!!

Oh Kara - DO TELL the garbage can story!

As for a get together, I'm voting for Sept. - it's off season, so rooms and flights could be cheap; and it's also F&W. I know Jan. would be off season also; but then winter weather could wreak havoc with travelling. And, I find that in Jan., many of us are recovering from the spending during the holidays.

I just heard all airlines are going to add an $80 fuel surcharge to all roundtrip tickets!

As for the garbage can story. Back in 1999, 5 days after we moved into our first house, Jeff's mom called me freaking out telling me that FIL was having a stroke. Jeff got home a couple minutes later and we raced over to their house. He was laying on the ground in the backyard, and the neighbors were there (one a nurse, the other used to be a paramedic). The ambulance arrived right when we did.

What happened was that he was trying to get the garbage can cleaned out because we were supposed to get bad storms from the remnants of Hurricane Floyd. So he was rinsing out the garbage can and was running behind it, with the lid open, to dump it down the hill in their backyard. His foot caught on the lid, stopped the can, but he kept going into the can. He head apparently caught on the side, bent it as far as possible without snapping his neck, and he ended up laying inside the garbage can.

MIL came outside to see what he was doing, and she thought he was just messing around, so she's yelling at him. Until he told her he couldn't feel his arms or legs. So she called the neighbors first (this woman does NOT know how to dial 911) who came over right away. She told them he was having a stroke so they pulled him out of the garbage can. If she would have called 911 first, they probably would have been more careful moving him. Actually, when the medics got there, she was still telling them he had a stroke so they rolled him onto his back. FINALLY someone listened to Jeff's dad when he told them what happened.

Anyway, he was in a neck brace for a long time, and had to have those vertebrae fused. But yes, he was literally laying head first in a dirty garbage can for who knows how long!!! He's lucky he's not in a wheelchair right now.

OMG - Kara, that story! :sad2:

Cammie, how is Amanda feeling today?

Amanda is doing much better, seems more comfortable. Of course, I am giving her codeine every 5 hours.;) I feel bad though, because it's making her sleepy. But, I guess if it was me, I'd rather be pain-free and sleeping than awake and miserable.

So a quick vent about yesterday. I made my ex come to the appt. because I knew Amanda wasn't feeling well and I didn't want Lauren in the back seat being in charge of dealing with that. And he had no problem coming. But I swear, I felt like I was dealing with three children. He really has no idea how to interact with Lauren as she's getting older. All he does is tease her; flicks the back of her head; makes faces at her. I play the new Miley CD for the girls and he just complains and mocks it. Seriously, WTH?:confused3 Lauren just snaps right back at him. I'm in the front seat listening to this and it's like bickering between a brother and sister. Then, when all is said and done, he comments about how "fresh" she is to him. What does he expect? He totally baits her into acting out this way. I swear, he's clueless and he should know better!

wow he is lucky to be walking. I did chuckle when I read it. Is that bad to laugh at the visual of someone rolling in a garbage can? The only question I have is why was he washing out the garbage can? Is that a hurricane thing?

October would be great. beth will generally have the 3rd Thurs+Friday off for a teachers convention which means my MIL will be home too because she works for the district. Plus the 19th will be my birthday. Hee-hee birthday at WDW would be fun. I'd better start saving my pennies now. I wonder what kind of group rate we could get? How would that work say with as grand gathering? Then would we have to spend one night at GF and one at BW and one at POP? :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

As for bad mom stories- the above mentioned MIL had BIL when she was 19. Inlaws got married just out of high school. (I don't know why I had to add that but just thought it fit in) They were out on the river swimming with her SIL and MIL. BIL wandered on to a sand bar and MIL turned her head and off BIL went down the river. Her SIL grabbed BIL. Scary how those things can happen in just a second. I still worry about leaving kids with her but we've done it and nothing too bad has happened. Well if you don't count GLUING art work to my windows. Hello that's what tape is for.

Off to get a bike for Beth. I have pix of the house and kids doing things they shouldn't I'll try to post later.
