Our family of 4 will be taking our 2nd cruise on June 12. I've been searching for airline tickets and its seems that it may be cheaper in the long run for us to fly down as soon as hubby and I can get off work on June 11. We would have to take a late flight out, so that we put us getting into Orlando kind of late. Where would be some places that you would suggest staying close to the airport without having to use a taxi. I would like to get a good nights sleep and then be able to use one of the services like Your ride, Happy Limo, or another to take us to Port Cannerval at a better time than before. Thanks for any help that you could give me.

We also had a flight that arrived late the night before our cruise (10 pm) and we stayed at the Hyatt at the Orlando airport. Although it was a bit more expensive than other hotels near the airport, it was definitely the most convenient. We just picked up our bags and walked to the hotel lobby to check in.

Dave's web site, www.dcltribute.com, lists lodging options near the Orlando airport and is a great source of information. I think most have free shuttle service from the airport. Also, the limo/towncar services will pick you up at your hotel in the morning to take you to the port.

We always use Priceline to get a hotel by the airport, and we have Happy Limo pick us in the morning to go to Port Canaveral. We bid at the highest star level and get a hotel (usually the Marriott) for $28 to $33. All of the hotels at that star level have a free shuttle. The Marriott shuttle is prompt but tends to be crowded because a lot of flight crews stay there too. We've also gotten the Renaissance and Holiday Inn Select, and their shuttles were prompt & we were the only people on them.

I second the vote for the MCO Hyatt. It was very convienent and very nice. Expensive, but worth it.

If u stay at the airport hyatt u can put your bags out during the night and they will be taken to the ship and put in your stateroom...

Aww heck, everybody just come stay at my house. It's only 15 min from the airport and I'll even let you pick up after yourself!

We stayed at the Sheraton. Very close, $70 for 4, free shuttle to and from the airport.
We arrived from California at 11 pm the night before, got our bags and were at the hotel by 11:45.
Took the shuttle back to the airport the next morning, and caught the Disney bus, which I highly recommend.

Okay Jim, I'll take you up on that. lol!
I would like to make a ressie for next April. :D

OK Captain Jim
We will be arriving around 4:00 PM on the 7th of May. Let me know what time you will pick us up? BTW - We also need you to take us to the ship the next day. Oh well, I had to post so I could get a little laugh. Think I will keep my regular reservations for now though We are staying at the Hyatt MCO - Convenient but pricey and I have not seen any negative reviews from this board concerning this hotel - Well except for the price if you are not lucky enough to get it online at a bidding site. - Mike

Thanks for all the great ideas. I went ahead and got the airline tickets. Now I just have to figure out which hotel we want to use.
Ya'll gave me lots to think about and i really appreciate it.
This is truly a great site. I could not make this trip without these boards. I've been on the Magic a couple of years ago and used the great tips and I still can't seem to remember them all. While I'm on leave for my recovery from surgery, I'm trying to get everything put together, because when I go back to work it will will be hectic until vacation. I'm sure I will be asking more questions, that I should know the answers to. I'm just going to blame my ignorance on the anesthesia. Lol. Thanks again!

Captain Jim:

Ey-ey Captain.... Will be arriving May 14, 2004 11:50 am.... *hehe

Our time isn't even here yet...but we're staying at the Hilton right by the airport. (our TA recommended...) I hope it'll be good. We're arriving the day before, and we got the Bounce Back Package...(breakfast included), which I thought was nice. There is complimentary Shuttle service to/from the airport. And we're taking the DCL bus from the airport to port the day of.

Good luck on your search. :wave2:

Hygienne99: Does DCL still take the bags from the Hyatt if you do not buy the transfers? We will be hiring Tiffany Towncars.

Thanks.

We used Quality Inn last October. The room was clean, free 24 hour shuttle to and from the airport, continental breakfast, and $35 a night.

I am staying at the Hyatt March 19th for the Magic sailing the following day. I talked to the people at the front desk and they told me that it was a service of the hotel to bring over the bags to the ship. They claimed they would be waiting in our room when we arrived at the ship. We could use any transporation we chose to get to the ship without the hassle of the bags.

I will let you know if this is not the case when I return.

Good luck with your decision,

DISNEYFAMILYOFFOUR - ask when you check in. Just mention that you are the Disney Cruise and they give you instructions.

disneylarsen - Please make sure you have you DCL bag tags...when you leave it out for th Hyatt to pick it up. Othjerwise when it gets to the port it will not be sent to your room

Hi,
Could you please tell me how you get the DCL tags to put on your bags? We are also staying at the Hyatt the night before we sail, but it's not until Aug 14, 04. Do they give you the tags when you check in? At what time do you need to leave your bags out?

Thanks for your help!

When you walk in to register, there is a sign that asks you to tell the clerk that you are a DCL customer. They will give you an envelope with info and tags. We did this on our 2/14 sailing.

Then we took Happy Limo to the port.

I booked the MCO Hyatt for our January cruise, and as others have posted, when you check in, tell them you're going on the Disney cruise and they'll give you the check in instructions.

We left our tagged luggage outside of our door by 8:30 a.m. went downstairs and got Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast, then went and checked in at 9:30 a.m. and were on our way by 10:00 a.m.

Smooth, smooth, smooth, and our luggage magically appeared at our cabin by 3:00 p.m. We didn't have to "lug" it anywhere!!

AND we booked a "day room" for the day we were returning from our cruise. This way we had a place to rest and relax and didn't have to sit in the terminal for 6 hours. We were off the ship by 8:45 a.m. and at the Hyatt by 9:30 a.m., we booked the room until 2pm for $60. At 11:00 a.m., we took our luggage back downstairs and checked in and got "A" boarding tickets (SouthWest) and then went back to our room until 2p.m. No sitting around the airport on the floor or uncomfortable chairs for that long!

disneylarsen:

Thank you so much for the wonderful information. What a great service. In total, we have 4 adults, 4 children, 3 strollers and lots of luggage. It will be completely wonderful not to have to worry about the luggage.

Please let me know when you return how it works out and I hope you have a great time!!!

din:

I thought the DCL tags would come when you get the package before the trip.

Dreamer04:

What time did you have Happy Limo pick you up?

Also, my husband asked me this morning if anyone ever complains about the noise level at the airport Hyatt?

Thanks to all for the great information. I cancelled my reservation at the Raddison by the port, and booked the airport Hyatt. One more decision made!!!
