What dinners would you make in the villa?

We are from the uk.
The ones we did last year ended up as corn dogs or pizza and chips. Sometimes left overs from restaurants etc.

I’m just not sure what other good meals there are to make and Walmart overwhelms me for anything not prepackaged.

We’ve tried the wraps and didn’t like them but I haven’t tried making any myself and we are going to make chicken pasta this time.

Hubby doesn’t want to have a bbq as it will be winter but I suppose I could do burgers in the oven.

So I have
Pizza
Corn dogs
Chips
Burgers
Chicken pasta
Wraps.
Mac and cheese

What good American or Florida dinners am I missing to make in the villa.

Which resort and what size villa? The DVC 1BR and larger have a full kitchen, but the studios just have toasters and microwave ovens.

If you'll just have a studio, you might find this thread helpful: https://www.disboards.com/threads/four-weeks-in-a-studio-using-the-kitchenette-and-survived.3703922/.

"Winter" in Orlando isn't necessarily "too cold to BBQ" - even January and February can be warm enough to use the grills at some of the DVC resorts. But you won't know until you're there whether conditions will be right.

I'd also ask on the DVC Resorts forum - some DVC folks don't read this forum.

How much cooking are you looking to do? Just something quick after long park days? Does it need to be American? Quick and easy?

We like nachos or totchos (tater tots) with taco meat and cheese baked in the oven and then topped with whatever toppings you like, salsa, etc.

Ramen
Grilled cheese and soup
Ruben sandwiches
Hot dogs
Pasta Alfredo
Chicken fingers/wings

I wouldn’t bake burgers in the oven, they won’t char and quickly overcook. But you can make them in a skillet on the stove.

Trader Joe’s has a ton of decent frozen meals.

You will have a full kitchen so can make whatever you desire.
You can cook every day or every other. Or just when you want.

I’ve found Whole Foods has more prepared or partially prepped dishes than some other markets. Easy to find the one closest to your resort via Google. You will pay more for the convenience and quality however. Take a look at the store before making a decision; you can always shop online and have it delivered or go in person once you are in Orlando.

This is a partial menu from a two week stay at a DVC one bedroom:

Meatballs and spaghetti
Chili
Tacos
Pizza (Rao’s frozen pizza is extra good!)
Ramen noodle soup
Shrimp pasta
Stir fry
Curry
Gumbo
Various soups
Salad

I did most of my prepping and cooking at home, froze in vacuum bags and packed in a cooler when ready to travel but that’s me (decades of camping) so be sure to do things your way.

Have fun 🙂

We broil burgers in the oven all the time and never over cook them. If you know how to make them, there is no issue using the oven. We prefer to grill when the weather is nice, but the oven works great.

We do an appetizer night with a bagged salad. So that one is easy .. chicken wings, cauliflower bites, cheese sticks etc.

We do a sandwich night, cold meats, cheeses, bread or buns etc.

My son loves the fried chicken from Publix ( I think Walmart sells it too) deli so we put that in our order and reheat it.

We keep lots of fruit and veggies and snacks on hand but often I’ll order the pre cut stuff because it’s vacation and it’s easier.
