I know this is a really weird place to post this, but I don't know what else to do. I have tried craigslist, I have asked around through friends and family, I have called no-kill shelters...so now I'm asking here.

Is there anyone in Massachusetts or New Hampshire who would like to adopt two kittens? Here's a slight backstory...

My wife's brother is a troubled guy. He can't keep himself out of trouble. He and his girlfriend adopted two littermates, both males. One orange, one black. They got kicked out of their apartment, lost their jobs, and we took the cats in. My wife and I did not want them to go to a shelter, thinking her brother would get his act together soon and could take them back. Plus we feared they would be split up at a shelter, and they are extremely attached to each other.

I won't get into all the details, but the brother and girlfriend will not be getting them back. They can't take care of them and frankly do not deserve to be animal owners. We wish so much that we could keep them, but out apartment is barely allowing us to keep our two cats. We love them so, so much and want to find them a good home.

Max is orange and white, and is a little afraid of people. The cats were bounced around to different friends' houses before we took them in and we suspect someone hit him a few times. He backs away when you try to pet him. But he is sweet and he just needs to learn to trust.

Sage is an absolute sweetheart. He is all black. He sucks on a giant teddy bear when he is scared, nervous or just ready to settle down for bed. Both kittens were given away at an early age and he never got over the urge to nurse. He only sucks on the teddy bear though.

Neither cat scratches or bites. They are very active and playful. They desperately need a loving home where they can stay together, and where Sage (and sometimes Max) can have his giant teddy bear.

Brother-in-law has not had them fixed and they unfortunately don't have their shots. I wish we could have paid to have these things done but fianancially we are struggling.

If anyone wants to take them, we will drive them to you. We just really need them gone because we are afraid of getting in trouble with the landlord.

Once again I know this is a weird post. I was just hoping someone could help. We have had no luck on Craigslist and we really don't want to risk putting them in a shelter where they could be split up or possibly put to sleep. Even in a no-kill shelter, I would be sad to think they left our loving home to sit in a cage. I cannot do that to these cats that I love so much. So, if you or anyone you know would like to provide Max and Sage with a new family, please let me know! Thank you. :goodvibes

ETA: Just realized I forgot to add, they are approximately 7 months old. So, still "kittens", but on their way to being adult cats. Also, after the first 2 days of being unsure they got along great with my two cats. Max did growl a bit, but he gets protective of Sage.

OMG they're gorgeous and I wish I could take them! My puppy wouldn't be too pleased with me though. :guilty:

Have you tried Angell Memorial or the Animal Rescue League in Boston? I found a lost dog a few months ago when I was out walking my dog, and Angell took him no questions asked.

Good luck!

Oh they are so cute. If I hear of anyone wanting 2 kittens, I'll let you know.

I wish I could take them buy DH said no to cats. We already have fish, a dog and 2 hamsters.

Good Luck.

I really don't want to bring them to either place because I know they will be split up and they are so dependent on each other. Also, Sage wouldn't be able to have his teddy bear in his cage, I'm sure it would be too small to fit and he would be so sad without it.

If we still lived in New Hampshire I would take them--I have been without a cat for 10 years since my Nikita passed. For a while we were moving so often it seemed unfair to out an animal through that.
Anyway, I will email my firends in New Hampshire and find out if anyone would be interested.
Thank you for caring so much for their welfare:goodvibes

You are such a kind person. Hopefully someone here can help you. Sorry but I don't know anyone up your way. I know exactly how you feel though. You are doing so much for these kitties by taking them in and loving them and by making sure they get a wonderful home!

Try this place:

They are a no-kill shelter. We got all 4 of our cats there and they really love their animals. Not sure if they are taking in new cats tho. They are beautiful cats and thank for for trying to help them! Good luck!!

Just wanted to say you are an awesome person for taking such good care of those lil guys and loving them so much. :thumbsup2

I would love to have them but hubby is allergic.

Thanks to all who have been posting giving me the names of shelters. I will hold onto the names as an absolute last resort, but like I have said, a shelter is not what I want for Max and Sage. They need a stable home, so I am looking for a family.

I am so very tempted, but I am afraid of how my cat will react to having 2 kittens at once and I wouldn't want to risk it not working out so well.

I will ask around and see if anyone I know if interested.

Just bumping for you - also maybe change the title to say something that you are looking for a good home for pets/cats - that grabs a lot of attention.

Oops, never mind, I see they are both MALES (I was worried they would mate and make more kittens you don't need!).

Best of luck to you and thank you for trying to find good homes for these two. They are adorable!

Oh don't worry, I would have ponied up some money from SOMEWHERE and made sure they got fixed if they had been male and female! (We have had them since August) Luckily my two cats are also males, and fixed.

I don't know anyone that wants a cat (well 2), but I'll ask around.

Another really good shelter is Sterling Animal Shelter in Central Mass.

I know someone who is looking for a orange male cat.. and they are in mass.. can you send me your info?

You're doing a great thing trying to help the kitties. You should contact rescues in your area, a rescue may even be able to help you out while you foster them, they may speak with your landlord for you and help you with food, shots & getting them neutered. Not all shelter environments are tiny little cages, check around and see what you can find. Good luck, it's hard to find kitties homes together.

I wish my landlord was nice, but he is not. We were only allowed to have our 2 cats on the condition they didn't cause any trouble - well, they're 2 active, young cats who like to run around, and our downstairs neighbor complains about the noise. We're thisclose to getting kicked out just on account of our two. If he knew about Max and Sage he would hit the roof. Also, our apartment is the size of a matchbox and it is SO crowded with 2 people and 4 cats. Though it's obvious they love us (and our cats) and we love them, they would be so much happier somewhere they had room to play.
