I know this is a really weird place to post this, but I don't know what else to do. I have tried craigslist, I have asked around through friends and family, I have called no-kill shelters...so now I'm asking here.
Is there anyone in Massachusetts or New Hampshire who would like to adopt two kittens? Here's a slight backstory...
My wife's brother is a troubled guy. He can't keep himself out of trouble. He and his girlfriend adopted two littermates, both males. One orange, one black. They got kicked out of their apartment, lost their jobs, and we took the cats in. My wife and I did not want them to go to a shelter, thinking her brother would get his act together soon and could take them back. Plus we feared they would be split up at a shelter, and they are extremely attached to each other.
I won't get into all the details, but the brother and girlfriend will not be getting them back. They can't take care of them and frankly do not deserve to be animal owners. We wish so much that we could keep them, but out apartment is barely allowing us to keep our two cats. We love them so, so much and want to find them a good home.
Max is orange and white, and is a little afraid of people. The cats were bounced around to different friends' houses before we took them in and we suspect someone hit him a few times. He backs away when you try to pet him. But he is sweet and he just needs to learn to trust.
Sage is an absolute sweetheart. He is all black. He sucks on a giant teddy bear when he is scared, nervous or just ready to settle down for bed. Both kittens were given away at an early age and he never got over the urge to nurse. He only sucks on the teddy bear though.
Neither cat scratches or bites. They are very active and playful. They desperately need a loving home where they can stay together, and where Sage (and sometimes Max) can have his giant teddy bear.
Brother-in-law has not had them fixed and they unfortunately don't have their shots. I wish we could have paid to have these things done but fianancially we are struggling.
If anyone wants to take them, we will drive them to you. We just really need them gone because we are afraid of getting in trouble with the landlord.
Once again I know this is a weird post. I was just hoping someone could help. We have had no luck on Craigslist and we really don't want to risk putting them in a shelter where they could be split up or possibly put to sleep. Even in a no-kill shelter, I would be sad to think they left our loving home to sit in a cage. I cannot do that to these cats that I love so much. So, if you or anyone you know would like to provide Max and Sage with a new family, please let me know! Thank you.
ETA: Just realized I forgot to add, they are approximately 7 months old. So, still "kittens", but on their way to being adult cats. Also, after the first 2 days of being unsure they got along great with my two cats. Max did growl a bit, but he gets protective of Sage.
