Looking at SSR with a critical eye.

And hopefully I'll never have to cross paths with you either! :rotfl2: Because I LOVE IT!!!

"Many simply dissapear after they post the review to never be heard from again "

.

"After the warm reception they recieve after posting a postive SSR review, can you honestly blame them.

Especially if they are new around here."

I'm one who has almost disappeared. I'm am sick of some telling others that THEIR enjoyment of SSR is a figment of their imagination. Anything positive they have to say is negated and mocked by others who are immature and just plain rude. I'm glad this thread has been started and maybe this behavior can be contained a little and not steal others thunder or rain on their parade.

Seriously, this is one of the few "bashing" posts I have read on this thread. Name calling is really low, not to mention immature (and rude). I have both enjoyed, and learned from this thread a LOT...please don't bring such negativity to this thread.

I agree with Beca, I believe this thread has brought light to some issues and there has been a lot of constructive critism from owners and non owners of SSR alike.

Please no name calling, and please don't make this thread a string of arguments. I believe the thoughts and feelings of most have been respected so far.

If you have any suggestions for the improvement of SSR please share b/c that is mostly what this thread is all about

Beca-I am sorry, I wasn't speaking of this thread. You are right in that this has been very constructive and educational and I am one of those who want to make SSR great. I have written my share of opinions/suggestions to DVC and want them to know the members are not lame ducks. I was just venting my frustration with other threads that are ruined by those who are frustrated/angry with DVC and SSR. I think they take the joy out of it for alot of people. That is why I said I was hoping this behavior would stay out of other peoples' threadd but then I went and added my own negativity. Sorry... I want to apologize for calling anyone immature and rude and I will refrain in the future. Thanks for calling me on it. Best wishes... :wave2:

Hey...no harm done!!! Thank you for being so gracious!!! I didn't mean to jump on you...it's just that I have enjoyed this VERY mature and "informational" thread so much....I don't want to see it go in a negative path at all.

Welcome to this thread!!! We would love to hear your views as well.

:teeth: wow I get off the plane after 9 hours of travel and this thread is still going strong!

And I think that Daitcher gave me a compliment a few pages back....

Good to see that you all had some interesting disucssion and contributed some concrete suggestions for improving SSR without the thread turning negative - I was holding my breath reading through the 8 new pages!

Dave, mark the date and time of this post. I am officially changing my mind. I would like some lunch at the pool. :thumbsup2

I can't believe I worked 15 hours today and still came home to read ALL of this thread again.

Beca, thanks for the great post. Cobbler, some great points also.

I do think there are some things that could be changed for the better. I still love my resort. But I think I will love it even more when some of the weaknesses are addressed.

Whooo! What a thread!!!! Oh, and B3, if you want your drink, your going to have to come to Earl's and get it!!! :teeth:

Well it took me nearly an hour, but I read this whole thread and I totally agree with Dave and everyone else who expressed their concerns and disappointment with SSR. As I posted on another thread something is missing at SSR. SSR lacks ATMOSPHERE. We need ATMOSPHERE. As I've said before, tear down that ugly parking lot and build something right on the water to knock our socks off. I don't care what it is. A lazy river pool, shops, restaurants, a carousel, whatever! What we need is MAGIC!! PLEASE! Give us some MAGIC. We all KNOW they know how!!!!!!! ;)

Thanks for the reply. I am not angry with any of the management at DVC. In fact I think they really are responsive and listen to these types of criticisms. Selling SSR may happen. For now I'm stil getting prime spots at the other DVC Resorts at 7 months and less. If that ceases to be an option I'll be out of the sysytem. Al of the DVC Resorts have taken similiar criticism in the beginning. Lets hope SSR becomes the resort it could be. I also think those of you who don't eat by the pool are in the minority. Where do you eat when you take a pool day? Back to the room and then come back?

DAVE

We never take just a pool day! My husband could never sit still that long! :rotfl:
We only go swimming for maybe a couple of hours at most.

Sarnia can you picture this

Two men, let's call em Dave and Boats sitting on the edge of SAB, watching their children swim in the pool......

girl walks by with a two piece, she obvioulsy is a long distance runner due to her lung capacity

dave: "what did you say?............"

The above conversation is one that is very possible. It's a rare trip at a DVC resort where i don't have a DVC discussion with more then one person. Well unless there is a cross country runners convention, then we don't talk much.....

Is "mature" really the word you're looking for to describe this thread? Seriously?

I mean, fine, make jokes about lung capacity, but I don't see what that has to do with improving SSR.

Sorry if I ruined it all, rinkwide. It's just that all the arguing has finally gotten to me, and I snapped. Disney's supposed to be my happy place....

I'll retract my statement...joke away.

OP - that post was hard to read on my poor eyes! :3dglasses
I bought into SSR because I plan to stay there. What I look for in a resort are :- nice room decor, nice pool, nice grounds. SSR has all of those. Bonus is it is close to DD where DS can go on an evening whilst younger sisters play in the pool or sleep in the room. :) I could not justify buying into BWV as I would get less years there, the rooms need renovating and the Clown pool would give me nightmares. Thats my take on SSR v one other DVC resort, eg. ;) I also have my own opinions on other resorts though I dont feel it necessary to post.

Well Dave we'll just have to meet! When's the next time you'll be in the World?

:teeth:

Well first I'm coming to VB for 5 day ( May 7th - May 12 th) then I come back and stay at VWL for 3 days ( May 12th - May 15th.) Just wanted to make sure I hit up all the resorts with my 7 month bookings. :) I'd be happy to get together if you are at WDW during this time.

First let me apologize to anyone who was offended by my assertions. Of course some of the positive reviews are not made up. Just from sheer numbers of SSR owners, some will like it. The question remains, what percentage? I've still not met a SSR owner who likes the place.

DAVE

I'm an SSR owner and I like the place. I've also stayed at OKW and BCV. So far they have all been great places to stay

OK...atmosphere?....ssr don't need no more stinkin atmosphere....magic?....ssr don't need no more stinkin MAGIC.....
ssr needs more cowbell.......more stinkin COWBELL....bring on the stinkin COWBELL!!!......thank you and have a nice day. :dancer:
