Looking ahead to next Thanksgving

We've got a whole group going for Thanksgiving next year, and I'm trying to get an idea of where we should go for dinner. I think we're pretty traditional and will be looking for the turkey and stuffing. Any recommendations from those of you just coming back from your holiday trip?

We had a great dinner at Whispering Canyon this Thanksgiving. Food was plentiful, the atmosphere was relaxed, the wait was minimal, and bottomless milkshakes was a great addition to a Thanksgiving Feast. I have pics etc and will be doing a food report as soon as I get caught up at work.

We had an awesome Thanksgiving dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table. My DD12 was the only one totally into tradition but we all tasted her Thanksgiving turkey dinner and I have to say it was fabulous. She loved it eevn though the stuffing was different from how mom makes it. For dessert pumpkin creme brulee or choclate buckle. My entire family loved the choclate buckle . I was the only one who ordered the pumpkin brulee but I'm still dreaming about it. We loved that it felt a liittle more special and the kids thought it was cool that when people asked what they did on Thanksgiving they could say they ate in Cinderellas castle. The whole experience was magical and a holiday we won't soon forget. Oh by the way the rest of us had, Me and DH: Prime Rib (yum, we've had one or two better but this was close to the top and au jus was amazing) DD10: (porkchops this dish felt homey and rich like a fall dish should. The mushroom sauce was wonderful the porkchop perfectly prepared, again we all tried it) DS9: grilled fish (tilapia, I think, very good very moist and good size serving. For dessert he had the rasberry sorbet with fresh berries and loved it).

We will be on the DDP over Thanksgiving '10 so looking for ideas... I will say we are English altho' we've lived Stateside for 7 years so we know a TG dinner but don't have the tradition or emotional tie to that meal on that day! Still, we would like to celebrate the excellent idea of stopping and giving thanks for all we have in our life, but not necessary with turkey et al.

Any suggestions?

I too am looking for suggestions. I would prefer not to have to eat the traditional turkey dinner. I think that is a homestlye meal best made at home. But I do think we should mark the holiday in some way. Boys will be 7 and 9 at Thanksgiving. Would love to hear from some folks who were there in 2009.

We did Chef Mickey for Thanksgiving dinner. We had just arrived, and thought it would be a good choice to see the characters right away, and also to have a buffet so we'd have more options than just turkey and stuff.
Well, we all hated it. not much variety, food was pretty lousy. The only great part was they did have dark meat - I love dark meat, and thought I was going to miss out on it this Thanksgiving - but woohoo, they had it.

But we thought a buffet would be good, just more variety for those that didn't want turkey and stuffing.

Going back next year - still trying to decide where.
We're thinking of Garden Grill which we love - it's always Thanksgiving meal there we feel, and is fun with the characters, lots of good food! Liberty Tree Tavern we're also considering.

Our other option is another buffet, maybe Cape May Cafe or 1900 Park Fare.

I think WCC would be a great choice - but we love the regular menu too much there and prefer to save it for another night.

We went to Ohana last year. we were all happy with the traditional meal they served. If we go back again this year, we would not hesitate to eat there again for Thanksgiving.

Well, our Thanksgiving trip was in 2007, but I agree with klinlin that to us, the traditional dinner was something to enjoy at home with all our homemade faves. So we said let's go crazy and our group of 15 went to the Hoop-Dee-Doo review. (Of course I booked the maximum days out at the time...) Best way to celebrate for us without missing our family celebrating back in New England. And it was just as crazy as our family Thanksgivings! It was the standard Hoop-Dee-Doo fare of chicken and ribs which our crew enjoyed very much and we felt it was more than worth it. I should mention we had one fish meal, one vegetarian and one children's mac cheese meal ordered the week before and they were delicious also. Very accommodating staff and it was the Christmas show to boot!

We went to the WCC and had the worst meal ever!!! I would not recommend this place for Thanksgiving. The food was not very good and the service was terrible!!!

We thought it was really sad too because we actually love to eat here. I guess they are just better at cooking the regular skillet than something off the beaten path. And I realize the bad service was isolated but still, it was really upsetting because we had met up with my Aunt & Uncle and their party for this holiday and just came away so disappointed!!!
