Long Range Korean missile aimed at Hawaii.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps wondering if their missles aren't coming from Acme Co? :lmao: :lmao:

Just wondering...

How would you expect that it gets confirmed by someone on the record if the only people that would have definitive knowledge of such would be people working for the North Korean dictator?
I don't need definitive knowledge. I just don't choose to panic based on wild speculation.

If you quote anonymous sources from Japan and the U.S., that means that you couldn't find anyone to go on record in two entire governments. And that qualifies as wild speculation in my book.

For the moment, I think I'll go with the official announcement for the Pentagon, which basically states "We don't know where they were headed, exactly. Either this planet, or maybe space."

I'm willing to be swayed by evidence, but so far the evidence that these missiles were aimed at Hawaii is not enough to convince me.

I don't think anyone is "worried" that Hawaii is under imminent threat. The "worry" is about the message that the "lunatic in charge" is sending to the United States and the world.

Where is the real life Jack and his sidekick Chloe when you need them?

I don't think China is encouraging North Korea. China knows the US is its' best customer and their economy would wither without us. Sad, but true! When the long range missle failed, I wondered if heads rolled for the failure. But then again, I wondered if they had intended for it to fail to make us think they are inept. Hopefully they are really inept! He is a crazed little man who is very dangerous in the games he is playing with the world community.

DH keeps mentioning Team America. Maybe they are on call.

I do think China is supporting this, at a minimum that arent going to discourage it.
They support it by manipulating their exchange rate and pegging it to the dollar to keep their exports underpriced relative to their currency's market value

I find a small problem with this argument. If the US believed that China was indeed encouraging (or even simply not dissuading), the action of the US Government would be to shut down Chinese imports to the US. That would cripple the Chinese economy in days.

China depends alot on our economy for the success of their own.

But with that scenario , the american people would be going down in the streets because Walmart would close ( and Target etc) since most of what they sell is made in china in order to have those low prices !

while the people and their children eat grass and tree bark.
Tragically, the eating of the tree bark merely prolongs their suffering with a slower and much more painful death, due to the onset of complications in the human digestive system when forced to eat the bark.

I thought I was told that there was no actual nutritional advantage to eating grass. It was in a Biology class (really digging through the old filing cabinet upstairs now). I can't remember what it was but eating grass won't keep you from starving as the body can't get anything from it :::scratches head perplexed::: Does someone know what I'm trying to say and could they say it for me!?

ETA: Do we think that we're going to end up in North Korea before long? I've always kind of wondered what the final decision will be before the next election. Discuss?

We know that China sells rocket propellant to NK. Don't be so sure that we would shut our ports to the Chinese economy at this stage of the game.

Are you trying to say that eating grass is a lot like eating celery? It takes more energy to digest it than calories resulting from it.

We ourselves have had many a failed launch of whatever type of weapon too. I keep remembering the pictures of us firing a missle out of a submarine not too long ago and watching it pretty much twirl around and get destructed. One can learn a great deal from even these types of failed launches.

I'm not sure China is actually encouraging this, but they certainly are not breaking down any doors to stop it. China does not, nor has it ever, done anything that wasn't in its best interests.

Sounds remarkably like American foreign policy, yes?

You don't have to look very far back into the history books to see examples of the geopolitics the US has played in the name of its own self interest. I am not sure the world trusts the US any more than it trusts China, to be honest.

I also am not sure of the import of this story - it's way too vague and inconclusive for it to really worry me. North Korea has been throwing around busted up missiles for quite some time now and doesn't seem any closer to actually hitting any kind of target, even if that were the intention.

.

That's an interesting statement given China's human rights abuses. Please point out to me when China has stood up against oppression and totalitarianism. In fact, they are that type of regime.

And if we are all so aghast by the Chinese support of North Korea, we can just stop buying Chinese products. Who's with me???

That's what I thought. All talk. What's more important, withholding support for a Communist nation who supports nuclear proliferation and forced abortions or that new flat-screened tv?

Grass is bad, bark is worse... Guess I should've been more clear.

We're lucky if we can find fruits and vegetables from this country, much less goods and products that are still made here. Those days are gone and they are not coming back.

First off, I think Kim Jong Il is someone who is a crazed lunatic who likes attention, and is doing this for attention.

The man has something psychologically wrong with him, as we know anyone who wears stilts to appear taller and has created an entire storyline of the time of his birth is a looney.

I say, a nice big F yeah for Team America, first off :thumbsup2

Second off, I do think China has something to do with this, but at the same time I think they know to watch out with us, because without our economy, their crippled.

I recommend this, BUY USA!

On the topic of NK, he is 10-20 years at least of having the technology to send anything past 500 miles most likely.

As a last resort (if things get very bad, war conditions), we always have Los Alamos to show Kim what we are made of ;)

Then be prepared to stop buying anything Disney. That is where most of the Disney merchandise is made.

Ok, on my next trip to WDW, EPCOT specifically, I won't go anywhere near China.

I have many issues with the Chinese leadership, but I think that it is misguided to engage in a cultural boycott of China. Interaction with Chinese people and exposure to other customs creates international understanding. Even if you regard China as an enemy, visiting the China pavilion at Epcot may lead to a better understanding of that enemy.
