Our Cast:
DawnMaree: That would be me, the ultimate planner for our whole group. After this trip I think I still need to perfect my planning.
Rob: My husband. Not as gung-ho about Disney as I am but still was excited to go on this trip.
Evan: 4-year-old son, a.k.a. Papas boy. He is definitely a temperamental child who needs a lot of attention. We had some trying times with him this vacation.
Alec: 2½-year-old son. Daddys boy by day, Mommys boy by night.
Grandma: My mom. Very generous lady, my best friend. She was looking forward to relaxing by the pool (ha).
Papa G: My dad. This would be the official Papa of Evan. He is completely crazy for his grandsons and really would spend the entire time with them if he could.
Grammy: My mother-in-law. First time going to Disney World and really the first vacation of this kind of magnitude for her and Papa W.
Papa W: My father-in-law. He is not a very expressive person, just went along with what everyone else wanted. Grammy had to warn him ahead of time about how expensive Disney really was.
Epcot - Wednesday, November 12th
This was supposed to Rob & my day off from the boys. Evan spent the night with Papa G and Grandma. We dropped Alec off early with Papa W and Grammy and then we headed off to Epcot for early entry. We walked right onto Mission:Space and got FastPasses for Test Track. We then grabbed a danish and waited for our FPs. After Test Track we called the grandparents and invited them to bring the boys and join us for the late morning/afternoon at Epcot.
It took the grandparents quite awhile to get everything packed up for the boys. Glad its just a short walk from the YC to Epcot. I dont think they could have managed the bus. We ran over to get more FPs for Fast Track so that Evan, the Papas, and Grammy could go on. Grandma was fine watching Alec. In the meantime, we went over to Ellens Universe of Energy. I enjoy that show/ride. While in the dinosaur part, Rob is trying to point out the dinosaurs to Alec and I had to tell him that Alec had fallen asleep. Poor little guy. Everything was just pooping him out. At least he was able to sleep in the stroller. Everyone wanted to go over to ride Body Wars so I decided to let them all go while I watched Alec outside. That was my chance to grab a smoothie. It sure felt good for my throat which was beginning to really hurt. Alec woke up just as Grandma was coming out to relieve me.
It was time for lunch so I went back in to get everyone out of there. We had lunch at the Electric Umbrella. Not so very good. Alec was cranky from waking up and didnt want to eat. Evan was starting to act totally obnoxious. It was quite embarrassing. We all ate quick and got out of there. Time of Test Track which Evan loved but got mad that he had to get out of the ride. He just cant understand that he has to give others a chance to ride.
Went over to ride Imagination! With Figment. Evan and Alec really liked it. It was cute. They enjoyed some of the interactive things after the ride. Rob and I had originally had plans to go to Jiko for our night out but I changed them to the Yachtsman Steakhouse because I just did not feel like taking another bus or paying for a cab. We left the grandparents and boys and started to head back to the YC. While on the way, I really was a little tired and we hadnt tried out the Food & Wine Festival yet. So, I called Dining and cancelled our PS for YS. We ate at some of the different booths until I was extremely full halfway around. I decided to have a little fun and got a henna tattoo in Morocco - just a little design around my left wrist. They said it would last 2 to 5 weeks, but it is starting to fade now a little after a week. Oh well.
Rob and I thought we may go back to the room to get freshened up and go play mini golf (we had free games with our basic package). Didnt even make it to the turnstiles to leave when my cell phone rang. It was Papa G and I could hear Alec screaming in the background. He said we had to come back right away because Alec had been screaming for at least a half hour for his Daddy and would not calm down. Okay, we headed back to the room to get him. So much for our day off. But really, we went to Disney for the kids mostly and I couldnt bear to see them unhappy. Both boys wanted to just stay in our room and sometimes walk outside to the grassy area. Rob ran over to the BoardWalk to get them a pizza from Spoodles to eat in the room.
I think they really needed down time and just to be with their parents.
Around 8 p.m. Rob and I took the boys for a walk to the BoardWalk. We all had fun watching a bango player and the boys played some carnival water squirting game. Each won a stuffed doggie. They only cost me $18. Watched Illuminations on the way back and ran into the grandparents just as we approached the YC. They had gone back into Epcot. Guess they needed some alone time from us! Dont blame them.
We all fell asleep pretty quickly when we went back to the room. Tomorrow is MGM Studios day and we made up our minds that we would let the boys sleep to whenever they wanted to and go whenever we got ready. No more pushing...
