There are a number of steps to undertake that will fix most Shockwave® problems.
Make sure you have the latest version of your Internet browser.
(Note for Netscape® Navigator users: Navigator 6.0 is not compatible with the Macromedia® Shockwave® Player. Netscape® has been addressed this problem in version 6.1 & later. Please use version 4.7 OR 6.1 & later.)
The latest versions can be downloaded from the URL's below
Microsoft® Internet Explorer
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en
Netscape® Navigator
http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/
If there is a more recent version, download the installer program to your desktop but do not install it yet.
Uninstall Shockwave® Player. You can download a Shockwave® Player uninstaller for Windows and Mac OS from the URL below:
Shockwave Player uninstaller
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14224
(Macintosh users download the full installer, the uninstaller component is included in the installer.)
When the uninstaller has been downloaded, quit/exit any applications you have open. Launch the uninstaller and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes which appear.
(Macintosh users launch the full installer, and select uninstall from the install/unintsall drop-menu.)
Uninstall Flash® Player. You can download a Flash® Player uninstaller for Windows and Mac OS from the URL below:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
When the uninstaller has been downloaded, quit/exit any applications you have open. Launch the uninstaller and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes which appear.
Restart your computer.
If you downloaded the installer for a more recent version of your Internet browser, launch that installer now and follow its instructions.
Finally, reinstall the Shockwave Player. You can download the player from the URL below. When installing Shockwave, we strongly recommend that you do a Full Install rather than a Slim Install (which is currently the default installation on the Macromedia site). To perform the Full Install, you should go to the link below, and choose the correct Full Install for your computer operating system.
