Weird question, but as I was looking at the kids luggage tonight it hit me. Are we allowed to lock luggage given to the porters? Or do they have to be able to search it? Thanks.

I always keep a TSA approved lock on my luggage, even when cruising. I haven't experienced any issues using a lock so far.

We always lock our checked bags. If DCL wants to look inside, you will be called to the "naughty room" to open your bag for inspection.

If you have TSA locks so that the people at the cruise terminal inspecting the bags can open them and rifle through the contents, just who else are locks protecting your contents from?

When you set your bags outside your room the last night of a cruise, some people have been known to come by and leave a Mickey bar souvenir inside. Very rude and messy, but it has happened.

Where do you get those locks from?

TSA locks are just like normal locks but TSA has a key to open the locks so they don't have to break your lock to get into your luggage.
If TSA does go into your suitcase they leave a note that they did so.

If you buy a lock the wrapping clearly states that it is a TSA lock if it doesn't then don't buy the lock because then it isn't a TSA lock...

I was given some wonderful Heys Disney luggage for Christmas before our January sailing on the Fantasy, and they are lockable luggage pieces. The lock it attached to the luggage. It is a combination lock, and TSA accessible.

We put zip ties on our suitcases before putting them out the last night. They can cut them if they need to, but we will know. It also allows me to answer the questions at the airport truthfully: "Did you pack your bag yourself?" "Has anyone had access to your bag since you packed it?"

I have these, too. Love them. Can't lose the lock.

We use the round keychain circle through the zippers to secure the bags. It would take some time to get them off and then put them back. It can be do e, but not worth the effort.
