We will be sailing on the dream in October. For the first time, we have a VGT reservation. In the past, we have always chosen staterooms on the side that you could see the fireworks from your balcony since we don’t love the madness of watching it with everyone else on the top deck. If we get placed on the other side of the ship and can’t see fireworks from our room, do you have suggestions of other places we could see the fireworks from on the ship that are less congested?

Also, my 70 year old dad will be coming with us and he is used to sailing Holland America, where the environment is much quieter and more subdued. Any suggestions of quiet, out of the way places on the Dream where he could sit and read a book in relative calm? Thank you!

Deck 12 will be less crowded that 11, especially if you choose a location that does not directly look down into the main pool area.

Reading areas -
Cove Cafe is usually pretty quiet,
the Pub can be as long as there is not a tasting or big sports game on,
Meridian lounge, and there is even an outdoor area although people may be smoking there is that is an issue for your dad
the Promenade deck has nice lounge chairs, just choose one away from the shuffleboard and be aware there will be walkers/joggers
the adult pool area can be quiet when you are away from the pool itself

Cove Cafe is generally quiet. In the early evening, the adult lounges (Pink and Skyline) might be quiet enough for reading.

You need to check which side they are shooting them off from because it can change based on the winds as we had them shot off port side on the fantasy in April but they shot them off starboard on our sailing in June.

Deck four lounge chairs are great for reading early in the morning (probably all day long too). You'll have joggers but it's quiet. And you can get some good sunrise pictures.

I've seen pics of the porthole windows in the hallways that have window seats in them that look delightful for reading but I have no idea if they're actually comfortable or quiet enough.
