That would have just made me angry. Simply because a person pronounces it differently doesn't mean that he or she is pronouncing it wrong. Even if you don't like how it sounds, that doesn't mean that someone is mispronouncing the word.When was in 2nd grade, I moved to Massachusetts and I had a teacher "correct" me when I pronounced Aunt as ant. She told me that "ants" were bugs on the ground and that an "aunt" was my relative.
I, too, cringe when I hear someone say, "I seen" rather than "I saw" or "I have seen".
