Yes, it's that time again - whopee!

I'm not in a good mood about it. Out of the four parties vying for my vote, only one has actually bothered to put anything through my door to tell me why I should vote for them. And they wonder why we have voter apathy in this country!!!

I've had nothing at all! (No actually, I think the BNP came round shouting out of a megaphone a few days ago) Though to be fair, at the General Election I got a bit annoyed that I had stamped mail about one of the candidates as well as a doordrop.

Will have to wait for the local paper to see who is standing

I have had the candidates knocking on my door! I have not opened the door to them though!

DW and I were only saying the other day how things had changed and that you no longer get the candidates knocking at your door, so it's interesting to hear that they are still keen enough to do it in some parts or the country!

We have had plenty of leaflets through the door and I have read through them all but I can't say that there is any one candidate who stands out from the others in our area :(

We've had a Labour flyer, and that's it

I will go and vote, but to be honest there isn't much between them (they're all rubbish)

I dont think we have anything going on here in Wales, except that we have just had our prescription charges dropped to £3.00 and from next April they are free, thats as much as I know. :)

Ah election nights, I love 'em! Ever since staying up to watch the GE coverage (when Maggie came to power), I've been a keen watcher of all election coverage. I love the swingometers, the polls, the ups, the downs, the beaming faces of the winners and dejected faces of the losers - nothing will ever beat seeing Portillo being dumped in '97!

Even though there are no elections in my area I'll still be up late watching the results - it's democracy in action. I love it!

I am standing as a candidate in the elections - I have been out delivering and canvasing for the last 5 days ~ approx. an hour and a half each day~ and I have not even covered a quarter of the wards area! I also took part in a BBC London radio broadcast on Sunday, mostly about the BNP who actually won a seat at our previous election, did 6 weeks and resigned!!! They also failed to attend the broadcast as did Labour!!! but we did have the National press officer for the BNP on the phone ~ what a load of twaddle, when asked what their policies where he said 'well we will be getting everyone to cook their own food from fresh ingredients and bring back christian worship to every school in the country' and that was it!!!! I will let you judge for yourself!!!

Good luck for today then :thumbsup2 I hope you win :)

Don't get me started on the BNP though :sad2:

We've been inundated, posters, flyers, letters, letters on House of Commons headed paper no less from Labour and the Lib Dems but nothing from Tory nor BNP (I don't think they're very big in our part of Essex, thank goodness).

I will always use my vote but it is very difficult and depressing to vote for the 'best of a bad bunch'.

We are not having one in our area for some reason - I seem to remember having one last year ot the year before.

I do enjoy election nights though and staying up to watch the results come in :)

I've never missed a vote European, National, Scottish and Local since I've been eligible. Dad conditioned us that we had to vote as people fought for it :)

Hopefully people get candidates who will represent their constituients :)

I totally agree Reid :thumbsup2 People still die all over the world fighting to get the right to vote. It is a privilege that we enjoy in this country and one that we should not take lightly :)

We have no local's either......but I have never missed any form of election once again it was also my dad who drummed it into us that it was a fighting priviledge that we all have chance to vote so we should!!

Shame alot of the younger generation dont seem to care so much although I am sure they will when they are older!! :sunny:

It always annoyed me when I was about 15 that I actually cared about voting and knew about the different parties but wasn't allowed to vote, yet thousands of people who could either didn't bother or just voted for a party because they like that colour or some other random reason.

Good for you Jane :goodvibes

Just to update you ~ BNP won one of the seats in the ward that i was standing in!!! :sad2: But the returning officer announced the wrong result and the wrong winners!!! and it has to go to court today, if the court will not change the announcement then we have a bi-election. I got into bed this morning at 3.40 a.m. and had to get up at 6. 40 a.m. so very bleary eyed, missed posting the answer to the quiz. And following BNP winning 12 out of the 13 seats that they stood for in my borough! I actually find it appalling that they are now the official opposition in the borough with no UKIP or Conservative's being declared whilst I was at the vote, although a couple were being re-counted!! Will let you know if we are about to do this all again
