I am planning to start my day at Epcot and try to get Remy as a LL, but since I will be hopping over to MK by lunch and want to try to get Winnie the Pooh around 11-12pm as my #2 and maybe Pirates as #3. If I am late, I heard that once the pass "expires" I can book another ride and then I can possibly still ride Winnie the Pooh if it's in the grace period. Any guess how long the grace period is? Any guess if the new LL opens up at 11am or noon? If for any reason I don't make it over to Pooh and I let it expire can I book it again later in the day or does it count because I let it expire? (not talking about cancelling). I am just asking so I understand.

If you are running late just modify your Pooh LLMP return time to a later time period, and free up a LLMP for someone else to enjoy Pooh.

The official return time window is 1 hr, with a 15 minute grace period after it expires. The unofficial stats are you may enter 5 min before your return widow opens, 18 minutes after your 1 hr expires. Actual reports have confirmed that you can use your Pooh up to 199 minutes late even if it drops off your MDE LL list.

Dave - when would you expect an expired Lightning Lane to drop off of MDE? We had one for Smugglers Run a couple of weeks ago that we never used because my daughter and son in law threw a gender reveal event at the entrance to the Hollywood Tower Hotel at the same time.

The Smugglers Run pass didn’t drop off of our account until sometime between midnight and 6 am.

Is this expected behavior?

Your report earlier in the month was the first report that I have seen for Smugglers Run. It really appears to be an issue in MDE that was only cleared in the overnight refresh. The MDE system is not always consistent in how it wants to operate so real world experiences vary.

As with all these edge cases it all comes down to if the Mickey Head turns green, if not it is up to the individual CM at the tap point to make the override happen or deny you.

Thanks for the info. When would you have normally expected the pass to drop from MDE as I never saw that happen.

This was the only set of passes that we didn’t use at all. We did have another set that was used about 4 or 5 hours beyond the reservation window but everything else was used within the current grace period.

In either case, we didn’t attempt to book a 4th LL as 3 at a time is enough to manage.

You quite likely aren’t getting Winnie the Pooh as a day of pull before afternoon ( link to data). It seems like a chill little ride but it’s somewhat in demand so your issue will resolve itself.

So when do LL's allow another booking after they expire?
At expiration. If your Winnie the Pooh LL is 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, it expires at 12:00 PM. You can then book another LL. If you haven't yet tapped into an LL that day, you can only book another Tier 2 in MK to replace Pooh. If you have already tapped into one and have a park hopper, you can book any LLMP in any park.

Tom - This makes me even more curious. How can you really tell if a pass is expired if it is still in your MDE account and available for use for at least 2 hours, maybe even longer, after the reservation window has passed.

This is something that I'm going to have to try on my next visit, as we often use passes well outside of their window for a variety of reasons. I never would have thought that another pass could be available just because that time had lapsed.

By expired, I just mean that its one hour time has lapsed. I am not referring to the ability to use it during the grace period after its expiration. And there are plenty of reports that say you can indeed book another LL after one has expired. You can always have three active (i.e. unexpired) LLs. On your next visit, if you see one of your LLs has expired, go ahead and book another LL. You'll see I'm right.

Thank you for the clarification. Some of the terms are interchangeable and not always clear.

For example, we used a LL at Pooh Bear a couple of weeks ago that was 4-5 hours outside of the reservation window. Mickey turned blue, but the attendant told me that as long as it was still active it was still valid and he let us right in.

In that case, active meant that it was still available for use in my MDE account.

Something to be aware of is if you want to use an LL that has expired, say Pooh and it expired 1.5 hours ago, our experience was Mickey would turn green as long as it hadn’t been 2 hours. But say you also had an LL for Pirates and Pirates went down during your LL return time and you got a Multi Experience Pass (MEP). If you went to use your expired but still turns Mickey green LL on Pooh, it would take the MEP instead. We got burned a couple of times. Use the MEP first on something else. Maybe Pirates is back up.

We found the way around that was to go to a blue umbrella and have your multi experience pass reassigned to a specific attraction.
