Well, we will be flying to Disney for a short trip in Sept thanks to DFIL's SW points.
We are going to do everything wrong - no EBCI, no seat for our 13 month old, gate check the stroller. Lol.

Realistically my husband and I are both experienced travelers. If we are separated on the plane, it won't kill one of us to hold her for 2 hours. I saw a harness in a catalog for lap babies, so I'm going to do some research on it.

Your OK saving the $25 for EBCI. With the little one you should be able to take advantage of Family Boarding and board between the A & B group. You will have no problem being seated together.

Don't bother with the harness. These are not allowed on US airlines.

Good to know.

We are flying out of Midway, which is SW's main hub, so most flights are packed, and full of families. It wouldn't surprise me if family boarding is cancelled or limited to one parent per child, but we are ok with that.

Previous trip from Columbus to Baltimore on Sothwest, DH, DD, and I we all managed to sit together even after being the last to board on our return flight. However... this post has me rethinking that strategy for this fall... late September we'll be traveling from Columbus to Flordia with a 4yo and 7yo. Hoping for family boarding so at least DH/I can each be seated with one of them. A little worried now and starting to rethinking the need to pay for early boarding...

We fly out of Midway also. I always check-in at the 24 hour mark and we have no problem finding 3 seats together.

I have flown MDW to MCO a few times and I've never seen them suspend family boarding. MCO to MDW seems to always have more families doing the family boarding and I've never seen them suspend it @ MCO either. Good luck. I think you'll probably be able to sit together. The plane probably will be pretty full, but maybe you'll get lucky and have an empty seat between you.

This is good to know. Not sure if we are flying next year but if we do and we take southwest, I'll be sure to pay extra for early boarding. I would be too worried we might not get a seat next to our kids and at the time of travel they will be 5 & 7 and both have developmental delays-they could not sit by themselves.
