Bread and Bears

We headed into World Showcase.

Before my snack, we checked out the line for Anna and Elsa even though we knew it would be hours. We went into the Norvay gift shop to maybe find some Frozen merch. Success. I bought a pin and an Anna tiara because why not. We caught a glimpse of the sisters from the exit and I almost died.

I went into Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and got my first (#4? 5? New thing? Idk I lost count) ever school bread. We were very close to our ADR time, but I don’t care I wanted a snack #PoohSized

My thoughts? I know there is a cult following about this dessert but I didn't LOVES it the way I thought I would. I thought the filling was very good. I think this is something that you need to acquire a taste for. You may not love it right away. I would definitely get it again though. I’ll come back to this later on.

So I ate my school bread on a bench outside near the bathroom. After I washed my hands, we headed over to China to see if Mulan was out yet.

I'm not going to tell my character attendant CM story here because I'll get aggravated.

We said hi to Norman!

We then headed back to go see Duffy, passing some familiar looking people on the way. They had some drinks from the country of Mexico. I think they were starting to drink around the world. Very early lol.

The line for Duffy was short. He wasn’t even out yet. Annie and I had a conversation with the nice family behind us while we waited.

A few minutes later him and his attendant/PhotoPass photographer (PPp?) came out!
OMG Y U SO CUTE??!!?

Annie and I decided that we would meet characters individually so we could hand off our cameras to each other to have GOOD photos ON our cameras.

Duffy!

After a hug, he looked at my bow. I told him I have a bow that looks just like him coming, but I didn’t have it yet. He was sad I didn't have it and started to cry. I told him I would wear it next time.

Then he told me he ran in Marathon weekend too.

When the PPp scanned my MagicBand, he stuck his paw out next to mine because he wanted his scanned too. The PPp told him he would need to be on my reservation so I told him next time I would make sure he got one. I asked what color he wanted and he pointed to something green. His PPp told him that a sailor wearing green is not a good mix. So he pointed to his shirt for blue. So a blue MB for Duffy.

Why is he so cute omg?

After meeting my second favorite Disney bear, we headed back to China for our ADR.

Originally, Annie and mom weren't on this ADR because Annie doesn't like Chinese food (how are we friends?) and mom just didn't want to go. But last minute mom wanted to go. I figured it was no big deal to add one person since we did it with Meg Meg and mum the other night. And it wasn't.

I got the honey sesame chicken since sesame chicken is pretty much my favorite food. I asked for chop sticks because that is how I roll and the waitress brought everyone out really nice ones! Fancy!

We were seated a little early, and by some miracle we finished with just enough time for me to run outside and get online for Mulan!!!!!! ​

THE BEST CHARACTER MEET EVER!!!

I ran outside and there was a line so I hoped I wouldn't be (rudely) DENIED and cut off like earlier...
Luckily, she wasn't out yet either.
I texted Annie to let her know that I was waiting for Mulan and she magically appeared rather quickly.

On line to FINALLY meet Mulan!

While standing on line, I rubbed my eye and Annie must have thought it was because of me mentioning how I thought I got some sunscreen in it earlier. No Annie, I'm seriously going to cry.


Mulan has been my favorite Princess since I was 8 years old when I first watched the movie when it came out in 1998. I still remember vividly watching it in my bedroom for the first time. Mulan was definitely the first Princess I personally identified with. I was a tomboy when I was little (and still am on the inside), and also hated and still hate when I'm told I can't do something because I am a girl. She is strong and brave and tough and kinda awkward and I just very much identified with all of these qualities when I was younger. I still very much identify with her today.

Pretty much I have been waiting to meet her for 15 years.

I could go off on a rant that could last a whole update on how annoyed I am that she (along with Pocahontas) aren't featured on much if any princess merchandise, but I’ll spare you.

Eventually, she came out and she was beautiful omg.

Annie went first, then it was my turn. She asked if she could look at my medal and I said of course.
We didn’t make it far into the meet before I lost it.
It was really emotional; I was really emotional. I really did not expect that to happen.
I told her she’s been my favorite since I was 8 and I never ever got to meet her before.

My crying was borderline embarrassing but whatever.

She said: "Well I've seen you've grown into a strong, young woman."

We had a really good conversation. She said she was happy to finally meet me. She said a lot of other lovely things to me that I think I will keep between her and me because this meet was something very special to me.
She also wrote me a lovely message in my autograph book.

"We princesses have a graceful side and a strong side."

We chatted a little bit about my running too because she knows I ran A LOT for that medal.

We said goodbye and I tried to compose myself while I got my camera and all that settled.
By far the best interaction I have ever had in my entire life and definitely the most meaningful. Something I will never ever forgot.
It was worth the 15 years it took for me to finally meet her. Day = made.

And special shout out to Annie for capturing a bunch of really good pictures!

At this point Annie had plans to meet up with one of her friends, Veronica who happens to be a CM and friends with a princess.

Annie and Veronica caught up as we wandered around World Showcase. We went into ; went into Karamell-Kuche to see if they had any free caramel and to smell lovely smells.

I HAD to say hi to Henry in Morocco!

When we got to UK/Canada...these birds were on drugs because HOLY CRAP THEY WERE FLYING LOW! I felt like I was gonna get attacked while they were scrounging for food. I was like omg pls don't touch me.

We exited WS from one end to continue on to the other end. While Annie and Veronica bought water and/or food I took some pictures of Duffy in various hats. I was so sad to see that there was no where near the selection of Duffy clothes as last time.

Annie and Veronica also wanted to go to First Aid to get some bandaids for their blisters forming from their new sandals. At this point, Annie turned to me and said "Oh my God your ear doesn't look good!"


Let me tell you about the story of my ear. I wore my MagicBand and any other Disney jewellery I wanted in Disney to work the day before I left since I wasn't going home that night. This included my Mickey Mouse earrings that I bought last trip. I wear them on special occasions and obviously in Disney. I don’t wear them too much at work because I don’t want to smash the phone against them when I'm answering it. So I wore them Wednesday with no problems. When I put them in the following day while getting ready to leave for the airport, I was like “Ow, that hurt." when I put the earring in the right ear.
Same thing the next day when I put them in on Friday. And once again on Saturday night.
I finally decided to not wear them Sunday night or Monday.

At this point, it was definitely infected. The lower lobe was inflamed a decent amount. I was slightly concerned.
I came pretty well packed, but I did not have anything in the first aid area so I wasn't doing much to help it these previous days.

When we went to first aid I asked for some alcohol swabs and cleaned it and the nurse gave me some extras for the earring and some anti-bacterial.

She also gave us Mickey stickers.

After we went into the Mexico Pavilion.

I'm 99% sure that I had never stepped foot inside the Mexico pavilion until then…what?
Annie and I picked up a stick Duffy from the Kidcot spot in Norvay so we went to get it stamped in Mexico.

Then we went onto the Grand Fiesta Tour. Veronica said "It's like 'it’s a Small World Mexico'" so I will probably never not call it that.

Yeaaah it was definitely in the 3-5 hour range depending on the time of the day. I was getting the 411 from Meg Meg and if you didn't get there at 9 and wait there on line for the 2 hours prior to WS even open...it would be a 3/4 hour wait. Rope drop attraction.

I think I can safely say, Annie had NO idea what or why I was doing what I was doing when I was saying hi to Norman

That time my medal turned into a snack

After “It’s a small world Mexico”, we went over to Norvay.

We got on line for the Maelstorm. Some lady came up behind me really aggressively and I thought maybe she was a wackadoodle and was going to yell at me for no reason, BUT it turns out she just wanted to compliment my tattoo. She also had lovely Pixie dust/confetti in her hair from the Main St barbershop that I was quite envious of.

As we waited on line for the Maelstorm, my childhood came back to me. I do remember going on this with my dad numerous times back in the day.

Next we headed back to Future World to go on SSE!!! (I feel like a 'wrong' from last trip was being made right by finally going on #ThingsIwillnevergetover)

I thought Annie and I were both ready for the picture for 'The Future' but something must of made us laugh or SOMETHING because I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THOSE FACES WERE LOL! Annie played some of the games in the post-show for a bit.

At this time, Veronica had to head out so we said our goodbyes. Then Annie and I went over to The Seas because I had to go on Turtle Talk.
But the Chippies were out so we had to stop and say hi!

I think Dale wanted my MagicBand. Most of my pictures from this meet is Dale grabbing my wrist.
On the other hand, I think Chip was hungry because he ate my medal.

After my medal turned into lunch, we continued over to The Seas.

We visited with Nemo and friends and then went over to Turtle Talk. I went to play Mr. Ray's pop quiz because my twin always seems to have a tough time with it LOL and some kid jumped right in front of my. Control your children, pls. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long before the next show started. When it got to the question part, this one kid asked a really serious question about moon fish, and Crush's answer was "I have nooo idea."

It was so funny but I felt SO bad for the kid

We headed back to World Showcase to see what the rest of the crew was up to.

Annie and I chatted about DVC until we caught up with my mom and company. We found them in the UK. Very soon I found myself wandering away...Annie and I headed into the shop with the KidCot station to get another Duffy passport stamp. I spotted a certain bear on the other side of the door so I headed back out there to wait on line for my buddy bear.

I COULDN'T wait for a Pooh hug! Those are the things you could use when you're having a bad day. I was really excited to meet Pooh and Tigger in Christopher Robin's room! I have never met Pooh in the UK before.

My mom texted me that they moved onto France where AJ was getting a caricature so we headed over there next. I stopped to take a nice picture for this couple ft. the Eiffel tower on the bridge on the walk over because I am nice like that. I also still laugh every time I think about how I completely missed said Eiffel tower last trip #slow​

Tripod in Epcot

We found our group in France. AJ, Kris and Craig were at the caricature station and mom was near the benches drinking the orange slush (which was one of 3 drinks recommended by a co-worker) and she was loving it. Annie and I sat with mom while we waited for the drawing. By this time my back was KILLING me so it felt really great to just sit...with poor posture. We just chilled on the bench and by the fountain for a little while and it was much needed.

At some point, the cousins went off somewhere and Annie, mom and I took a walk towards Japan and Morocco. We walked back towards France and Annie and I got on line for Aurora. Aurora was coming out at 5:20 and we lined up (first in line at 5) Some Brazilian woman came over and sat on the railing next to us…IN FRONT of us. Annie and I were trying to figure out the best way to get rid of her because she no speaka da English. It was all sorts of annoying and awkward. How do you tell someone that doesn’t understand you that you need to move without being a total B word? I kept making faces to the family behind us because this woman was cutting them too! If the character attendant would have came out, I would have told her the story, because I was assuming that the other families behind me would have backed me. Luckily, the woman’s daughter who also didn’t speak English came over and they left together. Buh-bye.


I should probably put my advisory warning here.
I was feeling pretty crappy at this point in the day so yes I was getting irritated quite easily.


I'm pretty sure I have never met Aurora until now (new thing #??) She tried to see if she could find us on the map.

Aurora asked me if I flew or if I ran.
She also told me that the fairies wanted to run in Marathon Weekend but they couldn't since they can fly. I said I didn't think it would be fair to the rest of us since we can't fly.

Just got called Princess for the first time of the trip

If you recall from the title of my first TR, I LOVE BEING CALLED PRINCESS!!!

We had a really late FP+ for Soarin' so we headed back over to that area.

We stopped in Club Cool and for some reason Annie wanted to take a shot of Beverly.
I wasn't feeling it but I HAD to because Annie was. So we put a cup under Bev and we split it. No need to drink the entire thing. We both did a shot. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I find some cough medicines to be way worse.

We made a pit stop at the bathroom and TMI whatever day it is I had a visitor. So let's just add that to my feeling crappy. Anyway. We went into the Imagination Pavilion to go Journey into Imagination with Figment. Which I have never been on!
It felt SO weird going in there because there was NO. BODY. THERE. Beside like 3 CMs. Deserted.
Veronica described it as groovy...and groovy is right.

We played the music game in the post-show together and that was really entertaining.

It was finally time for Soarin'!

I was excited to ride Soarin' again because for 3 years I had a bad first experience memory attached to it. Between my less than prime seat and some IDIOT yelling at me because the ride was "scary" even though I told her 3 times I didn't know if it was "scary" because I've never been on it.

It was REDEEMED!!!
I am still definitely convinced that my 'smells' did not work for my first ride. I still didn't smell any oranges this time, but OMG THE PINE TREES IS ALL I NEED IN MY LIFE! And I could have seriously gone to sleep in that seat. It felt amazing on my back. I was totally in the moment when we were on the ride and it felt fantastic. Annie said to me right before it started that being yelled at was what definitely took away from the experience last time and she was right. Love Soarin'. I really did not want to get up out of my seat.

After, we waddled over to Sunshine Seasons to see if there was anything that we wanted to eat but nothing seems to float our boats. Annie was feeling really crappy too from her knees at this point. We were both in meh moods from pain. Annie decided she was going to head back to the room, take some pain meds and go to sleep. I walked her to the exit...and for all intents and purposes for moi that was SSE. She was feeling really bad and I was hoping that she made it back to OKW ok. I told her to text me when she got back.

At this point, I whipped out the compact tripod that I bought purposely for the trip. It was time for something that I was SUPER excited for: NIGHT TIME EPCOT PICTURES!

After my beloved night time SSE ft. low ISO I moved on to the light up side walk!!!

LOVE

I'm glad I got a good shot on my first snap, because there were tons of people walking through my next one. Like essentially right in front of my lens.

Now look...I know that sometimes it’s impossible to avoid having people in your shot. I appreciate when people try to avoid it...but it just urks me when THERE IS PLENTY OF SPACE TO WALK to avoid a camera/photo. I don’t think I'm asking for much effort. Clearly I was set up with a tripod right there and you HAVE to walk right in front of my camera? End photographer rant.

I hung around the area for a while because it was required too much effort to walk. I looked for more food but again, nothing was peaking my interest. I looked at some pins and traded with a CM for a Stitch pin.

Eventually I made my way over to World Showcase.​

Adventures of aggravated Megan

I was slowly making my way over to World Showcase to find a spot for IllumiNations. I was carrying my tripod extended because it was pointless to put it away at this point. I like being one of those people anyway. On my way over some random kid came up and was like criss-crossing in front of me and hit my tripod with a stick or something. Can we not?

I do apologize if I come off less than ‘Disney happy’ during this time but you do not, DO NOT understand the pain I was in! My back was KILLING! There was just this forever knot that was situated to the left of my spine in the lumbar region. Killing me. The best part that it wasn't even from running (though I'm sure 39.3 miles didn't help the situation) it was from having way too much stuff in my backpack. I was having lower back pain during my first full marathon, and I have been trying to incorporate lower back strengthening exercises into my workout routine for about a year now. Apparently that’s not going too well LOL that’s the first thing to get axed when I don’t wanna work out, so that’s my bargaining tool.

I walked all the way to Germany for some reason. I went back into Karamell-Kuche to continue to look for that snack. I left without purchasing anything and I do not know why. Let’s blame the pain.

I went back to Norvay and just YoloDisney-ed it and decided on another school bread.
I didn't quite realize how hungry I was. Me not eating in Epcot seems to be a reoccurring theme.

Let me tell you, school bread was a hell of a lot better the second time around…and when you are SO HUNGRY.

I went over to the railing on the water and set up my tripod and camera and took my backpack off and sat down and ate my school bread. I caught up on my TR notes in my journal…LOLOLOLOLOL that would be the last of that for this trip.

There were Brazilians on either side of my and this is where I learned they seem not to know the definition of PERSONAL SPACE. AND THIS IRRITATES ME. Suddenly, I was surrounded. I don’t understand why they needed to be ON TOP OF ME! There was PLENTY of railing to spread out, but no, they are all right up in air.
At one point, this one kid that was right next to his mom looked down at my tripod, and started kicking it.

CAN. WE. FREAKING. NOT!???!

That’s pretty much what I said to him.

FOREIGN KID STOP KICKING MY TRIPOD OMG

DO. NOT. Mess with the camera equipment. Please and thanks.

So of course my phone battery was at about 4% at this point and I was trying to text my mom where I was. She wanted me to come find them. Lol you’re funny. At some point she called me and I told I had been there since 8:10 and WAS NOT MOVING from my spot. Plus, I kinda physically couldn't move either…
Mom eventually found me. The others stayed where they were which was closer to the entrance of WS…but farther back towards Future World...because “fireworks go up”...

So my less than lovely mood changed for the better when the Pre-illuminations music / Inca dance started.

This would be my first time shooting fireworks with slow shutter speeds. I was trying hard to make some Fourth of July plans the previous summer that involved watching fireworks so I could practice but that didn't happen.

Sorry I had to torture with those. This wasn't my best attempt. I was shooting with manual focus and I DON’T KNOW HOW I lost the focus at some point. Every so often I would refocus it so idk man. Let’s blame that tripod-kicking child, ok?

While I was in pain, I picked what I thought it was a good spot but there were some tree branches in some shot, so I guess not. ANYWAY no bother because this was preparation for Wishes *forshaddowing*

Mom made a pit stop at the bathroom and they were playing Tapestry of Nations and I swayed along to it and thought of @DisneyFreak616
Then we ventured out of the park and we got on a bus that luckily JUST arrived when we got there so I got to sit!

One reason why my phone battery was dead was because I was texting Meg Meg about Friday. Instead of mum dropping her off SUPER early for DAK she was going to get dropped off Thursday night SO

When we got back to the resort, I made an awkward phone call to the General Store because I needed something.

I took a shower, backed up photos, and called for a wake up call for 7 the next day.

Annie gave me some pain killer to help me out. I was in SO MUCH PAIN at this point. Yay mystery medicine. THAT KNOT IN MY BACK WOULDN'T GO AWAY. At one point while Annie was sleeping, I was hunched down in between my bed and the wall almost crying from PAIN!

I got to bed pretty late since I was laying in bed posting pictures on twitter.
I still needed to figure out how to make sure that mom would be there for rope drop with Annie and me. ​

If the bus says Magic Kingdom it's going to the Magic Kingdom, right?

I woke up and my back felt better. Not great, but a hell of a lot better than when I went to bed. I got dressed and snuck inside my mom's bedroom and poked her to wake her up. I'm nice. She knew that she needed to get to the park early unlike the previous day if she wanted to actually do something today…

We were out the door a little later than I wanted to be but that’s ok.

IT'S PRINCESS DAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM

An MK bus came. Here is the picture....................

We had to go through the resort loop. As I was sitting on the bus as it did it’s thing I said to myself “Ok this music kinda sounds like MK music.”
We were still in the resort when the next bus BGM song came on and Annie said “This sounds like it could be in Epcot, China” and I said “Yeah, I was thinking the same thing…”

Mom, Annie and I were being entertained by this British family with 4 little girls. 2 of them were hitting each other with their Lady plush and Mickey straw pretty much the entire bus ride. Eventually we were out of the resort and on the road parallel to the over pass we ran on for mile 12 of the half on the way to Epcot. And I said (as I would say often this trip) “Hey Annie, there’s the road we ran on!”

Next thing I know, we are going under the Epcot entrance...wait, what?!
I said to Annie: “Annie, why are we going under the Epcot entrance?!”

I started freaking out!

The father of the British family said to the bus driver “Excuse me why are you going to Epcot?” and the bus driver said “This is the bus to Epcot”

And the father said “The bus said Magic Kingdom, you have a whole bus full of people who thing we’re going to the Magic Kingdom!”

Pretty sure at this point mostly everyone on the bus started freaking out. Myself included because surprise, surprise I started crying.

Because

I had a surprised planned for my mom.

Since this is most likely our last (extended) trip to Disney together, I booked an ADR back in August as a surprise/Christmas gift.

I booked breakfast at The Crystal Palace for just her and me (AND POOH!) and now the element of surprise was ruined.
She was like "What the hell, why are you crying?"

‘Cause that’s what I do...

UM BECAUSE SURPRISED RUINED!

So I gave her my Christmas card that had a cute little poem-hint in it that Meg Meg helped me with. My intention was to:

- watch the Welcome Show because it has my heart
- make a B-line for Space because we ALWAYS start right
- and then give her the card and drag her most likely now annoyed self back to MSUSA

and then SURPRISE! But nope.

If you are curious, the card said:

"Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Puffed French toast is my friend
And so is Pooh."

The driver said that he would bring us to the MK. I was devastated that I was missing The Welcome Show but now I was concerned about my ADR. I was pretty sure I had enough time but I get very anxious about things like this......more foreshadowing.

The bus says Magic Kingdom...driver decides to go to Epcot. SO I'M MISSING THE WELCOME SHOW ARE YOU KIDDING MOI?!

This bus mishap ruined my surprise but MERRY CHRISTMAS MOMMY BREAKFAST WITH POOH

I felt really bad for the couple sitting across from us because they too had an ADR at CP for 8:45...it was now 8:45 and we are on this bus.

We got to MK and rushed in. It was like 3 minutes past 9 o'clock. I could still see the reside from the morning fireworks *cries*

We looked in the gift shop where I saw Mickey loafers because I wanted them. But I came across the Mickey Mouse crocs in my size first so I bought those and had them shipped back to the room.

We went over to take pictures of the castle.

Just an FYI. The lovely crane was up taking down the dream lights and thus featured in every photo of the castle. But I have magical powers so poof! Crane-be-gone!

And I feel like I've always ignored the little partners statues so I showed them some love.

We decided to head over to CP to check in. Annie said she would be close by and I would text her to meet up for our first FP+ of the day once we were done.

We checked in. The mayor came over and HAD to take a picture with mom ‘cause he’s got a thing for red heads. His first girlfriend was a red head FYI.

While I waited, I took the opportunity to tweet today's OOTD.

I'm tired just reading about your Epcot day

You guys did SO much, Epcot is such a huge park.

I swear after I got done running the GSC (which is way shorter I don't think I'd survive goofy) I was still having a great time but people were driving me nuts, I don't know what is was.

LOVE all the Epcot nightime pictures, so pretty!

Ugh! I would be so mad if the bus driver had the wrong sign on. What the heck! I'm sorry it ruined your breakfast surprise but I hope the rest of the day turned around!

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!! We crossed that part SO MANY TIMES. BIG MISTAKE. If I had it my way, Monday would have been a rest day...but that's neither here nor there. DHS would have been a better pick size wise.
