LIVE-Here now at POP! WOW-the RAIN was OMG! updtd 10-12 inc PTR

I just realized that I am only about 900 posts away from having 10,000. So I have a goal in mind. I want to reach 10,000 posts before our trip in only 45 days. That would be around 20 per day. I'm pretty sure I can do it. And maybe one of them will come to the attention of the Tag Fairy!;)

Southwest is down to $189 for return flight home but still $45 more/each than I already paid. Crossing my fingers it will fall to $144 so I can get those extra 2 hours!;)

Yesterday was my 45 day mark so I called to pay the balance, splitting it between my DM and my DV cards. When the CM read me back the info I caught that it was showing 3 adults. We are 2 adults and one 12 y/o (after 9-19 that is). She changed the info and the price dropped $100 ($10 x 10 for extra adult). I'm not sure what happened since I booked it online but I'm pretty sure I put her in as a child, 12 y/o. Anyway, it's always nice to save $100!

So we are all paid up and flights and car are booked. Now what can I do to get ready....

Book ADRS-nope-none for us this trip. Only doing CS again. Don't get me wrong I do miss a few of the TS locations (Kona, WPC, etc) but I don't miss having to make ADRS so far out. Too much planning!;)

Play around with my snacks list copied from jjohnson's thread and modified with info I have googled. I can't really say why I enjoy doing this but it makes me happy to find a newer CS menu picture and update my list, it just does!:lovestruc

I really need to find something else to keep my occupied.;)

If you've requested my Food & Wine listings, they have been sent. If you would like your own copy, send me a PM with your email. I will send you the listing in regular font with food and wine unless you ask for the one with no wine, larger font, or with my (few) added descriptions.

Oh, and I actually used one of the links here on the boards the other day. I used Dreams Res to book our first night (actually a.m.). Our flight arrives at 11 p.m. on the 7th but we aren't booked into POP until the 8th. Once in the past we were able to get our room at POP at 7 a.m. but I couldn't convince my DM to sleep in the car for a few hours until we could check in at POP. :rotfl:So I booked us a room at Country Inn & Suites in LBV for only $63, plus tax which is a pretty good price. It includes breakfast. We have stayed at CI&S in Sarasota several times and really like them. They have make your own waffles at breakfast. :cloud9: If you cook them for 2 cycles they are just right. If we change our mind I can cancel within 24 hours of check in and not be charged. I sent them an email letting them know we would be arriving late, very late, and they let me know they attached a note to our ressie. Oh, and for the short time while we are there I will have free WiFi.:)

Our plan after arrival is to pick up our car, drive to Super WM and pick up a few things, then check in at CI&S. Hopefully we will only sleep for a short time and then be up to grab a quick bite and make the short drive over to POP to check in. We could even do a park that day (Sat. 10/8). If we get the Premium AP, we may just do that. If not, maybe a waterpark.

On a personal note my DD's softball team had their first winterball practice and picked their name. Their jerseys are light blue. They picked... The Smurfettes! This would be fine if they were 10U or 8U but these girls are 12U. We were really hoping for a tough name like Tidal Wave or Tsuanami. Oh well, at least that's one t-shirt I won't have to order. ;) I told DD all the girls should get some cheap blonde wigs to wear-it would make a funny team photo.

I thought I commented on your PTR but I guess not. :confused3 Anyway, joining in!

I'm joining in too - going in October myself (but only with one other person) and writing my first PTR. Want to make sure I keep up on yours since we're going at the same time!

Okay, sorry I haven't posted lately. Here's a brief update..

Southwest still hasn't come down on our flights nor has National on our car. I did check Hotwire over the weekend and I could have booked a mid-size for about $140 less than the deal I have on National but I decided to wait-bad move! Now the rates for mid-size are back up on Hotwire. I will have to keep checking. ;) I've never used Hotwire before but my DSis did in May and they got a great rate and it was with Hertz. I do love being able to pick my own car with National (any car-inc. upgrades no extra $) but do I like it enough to spend $140 on it. I think not!

Oh, and I messed up on my really great find on batteries for my Kodak. I got them the other day and they aren't rechargeables! URGGHHH! No wonder they were less than $6. And since my dig cam is no longer being made Kodak isn't even selling them on their site. I did find some made by LexMark and right now one of the best deals is on, off all places, Kohls.com. And I can use my discount. And I can charge them on my Kohls card. Right now charging is very important and here's why...

2 days ago was are really bad day, business-wise. I have 2 projects I was working on but hadn't heard from either client recently (once it was time to pay). I finally reached them both just before leaving for DD's softball scrimmage game (they did really well too-DD had a nice hit and her team beat the other team-not bad with only 2 practices under their belts) First one told me that his &*%(#$( wife can't visualize the design I did for them without seeing it 3-D. Problem is I draw by hand, not on a computer. He's very sorry and will pay me for what I've done but it means a lot less money for me  This is the first time I have lost out on a project because I hand craft (pencil to paper) my plans. Then I called my other client who said they simply don't have the money and will have to pay me in payments! Payments, really, what do I look like a bank? Seriously, I was really counting on that money and since it's over $1000 and they want to pay me like $100, it will take them about a year to pay me off. I really want to charge them interest, but I'm sure they won't pay. This seriously has me in a huge funk since I was counting on over $2,000 and now it's looking like $500 or so. This really stinks!!!!!! If this had happened before my 45 day mark, I may have decided to cancel this trip.

I should have known better when the first client couldn't give me a deposit at their home since they don't write checks! Cash or online only. Should have known they were techies. (sp?)

Oh well, there's not a whole lot I can do about it but this has really depressed me lately. I'm not one to wallow in things (like taking to my bed):worried: but right now I wish I was!

Okay, back on topic...my DM wants me to put together a list of all the possible ticket prices. We usually will upgrade one of our base tickets (bought for free DDP) to a 10 day, PH, with pluses, non-expiring and use that ticket for at 2-3 trips. However, this year we may opt. to upgrade our DLR AP to Premiere AP. (That's what credit cards are for, right?) I'm still on the fence about DD and I though I am leaning towards doing it since she needs new tix this year. I did my upgrade last year so I am good. My DM will need to do an upgrade this year so she may decide to do the Premiere AP as well.

At least it gives me something constructive to do-keeps my mind off other things.

Oh, and one more thing. DD11 made the school basketball team last week. Our district just added sports to our Intermediate schools about 2 weeks ago. She was supposed to have her first game last night but it was canceled (postponed) due to a conflict at the other school. Luckily it looks like basketball and softball won't have too many conflicts. She will miss a game while we are in WDW but she probably won't be the only one since we will be off-track. I can't wait to see them play. :goodvibes

Thanks for listening!

Oh, and one more thing....

On Sunday my DD's Girl Scout troop went down to Laguna Beach to see the seal pup their troop sponsored being releases along with another rescued pup. It was so cool and they girls were very excited.

Watch our Youtube video of seal pups-inc. them kissing. Only 5 minutes long.

On the way back from the beach (where we stayed and played for about 2 hours-though unfortunately none of the other girls had brought their suits so they just went home) we ate at Souplantation (love it-Sweet Tomatoes in other places) and then as we drove home I drove through the SNA (OC) airport since that is where we are flying from and int, just to check things out. I'm glad I did since now I know that it looks almost as easy to parking and depart from as ONT. I'm hoping we'll be able to park at the closest lot, right across the street from the terminal, when we leave on Friday, the 7th. If not, we can always be dropped at the curb. My DSis will be driving us there in my car.

BTW, DD's softball team voted to change their name. They are no longer The Smurfettes. :) They are BRAIN FREEZE!

YIPPEE! I have been checking the flights on SW at least once a day to see if I can change our flight leaving MCO so we can get in a little later-you know, to maximize our time at WDW. Also, as you may have read previously, I had made a small mistake and I meant to book the flight leaving MCO around 2 and arriving at SNA (O.C.) around 7 but I booked leaving at noon and arriving at 5 pm. (full rush hour!:scared1:).

Well the flights have been going up pretty regularly. The return flight I want is now around $272 (about $300 with fees) and that's only one way. My entire round trip cost about $350 originally.

Well imagine my joy this a.m. as I checked with SW to see that while the flights at SNA are still high there was a flight coming back into ONT (my preferred airport) for only about $189. :cool1:I checked the price increase and it would only cost us $6.90 more for the different flight. Best news is we now leave MCO at 6 p.m. and arrive home at around 10:30. Only $7 for an extra 6 hours in WDW-that's a no brainer. I double checked with my DM that it was okay with her and she said yes so I booked it immeadiately. Oh, and that was $6.90 more for all 3 of us-total. Only $2.30 each!

BTW, I just checked that flight again to see what the cost was before fees and it is now back up to $223! And that was in less than 10 minutes! I've learned the hard way that you have to jump on those low fares right away. even 10 minutes can mean a difference of hundreds of dollars (for 3 of us)

And....our original flight had 2 stops, with one change of planes in New Orleans. This flight only has one stop, with a change in Denver (same airport we are flying through on our way to MCO). Same flight time, but less stops. :)

My DSsis is picking us up but she's a night owl anyway and coming in at 10:30 means there will be no traffic and we will probably be home by 11:30, at the latest. Did I mention I love SW and ONT airport?:cloud9:

Congrats on getting the airport and flight you wanted:cloud9:

Thanks! Now if I can change our outgoing flight as well that would be awesome. Highly doubtful that I can get it for less than $144, but I'll keep looking. If not, flying out of OC (SNA) won't be too bad. Just hate when they cut back the power right after lift-off (Thanks-Newport Beach :confused3)

Thanks for reading!

OMG! My ticker is now at 1 Month-YEAH!

I think I should buy a lottery ticket today!

Okay, so I told you about my awesome flight change on SW that only cost me a total of $6.90 (for 3 of us) to get a later, and better flight, to our airport of choice and allowing us 6 more hours in WDW! :cloud9:

Since my car reservation with National was for returning at noon I went ahead and changed it to 10 p.m. The price is still the same $391 for 11 days (midsize but I get any car on the Emerald Aisle ;))

This is the best rate I have been able to get with National using the Visa codes I found on Mousesavers. Even better than the Emerald Aisle rate. But still it's running $35/day.

So I priced Alamo using my Alamo Insider code (IG) but that rate wasn't so great. Then I checked on Mousesavers but all their codes expire before my trip. There was a link for the Visa savings so I checked there and input those codes and coupon. The rates at Alamo are substantially less than National. I decided to stay with the same size vehicle (mid-size) and if we use this ressie hopefully we can get a free upgrade (this has happened before with Alamo) The rate at Alamo is $269/11 days which is $130 less and only $24/day. So, I booked Alamo. We have used Alamo many times before and I like them as well as National (they are the same company after all). Since Alamo doesn't require a credit card to reserve it's a win-win situation. Many times Alamo's rates will drop during the weeks before our trip. I'm only hoping National's will as well since I really want to use the Emerald Aisle but don't want to pay $130 more. ;)

In the past I have always used coupons from the Entertainment book but I didn't buy one for 2011. So no Entertainment codes for me :sad2:

Ooops, my bad!

After I booked our car on Alamo I was going to check out rates for my Dsis' inlaws who will be there from 10/8 to 10/16. When I went to the Alamo site to adjust the dates for them I noticed I had made a mistake. :sad2:

I had us arriving at 11 p.m. on the 8th, not the 7th, which we are. URGGHHH! :confused3So I put in the 7th and the price jumped up to $386.36! That was an increase of over $120 for one more day! Something had to be wrong with that! I changed our pick up time to 11:30 p.m. (sometimes that make a difference) but it was still almost $390. So, since our flight is arriving at 11 p.m. I changed my pick up time to 10/8 12 a.m. (midnight). Now the rate fell to $304.43. That's more like it. The extra day is running us $36. By the time we deplane, pick up our luggage, and pick out our car it will be at least midnight.

But seriously why the big jump? Is it picking up a car on Friday vs. Saturday? I checked the weekly rate picking up at 12 a.m. on Saturday, the weekly rate for a mid size is $138.64. Picking up at 11 or 11:30 p.m. on Friday and the weekly rate jumped to $216.11! That's nuts!

Now I'm going to check to see if it'll make a difference with National if I pick it up after 12 a.m. on Saturday. Wish me luck!:wizard:

ADDED-It didn't make a difference on National. Same rate no matter if I pick o at 11:30 p.m or 12 a.m.

BTW, here is a picture of the car we got 2 years ago with National Emerald Aisle-It was a brand new Buick Enclave. This car was hot! It had a back up camera and remote start. I could start the car as we approached and have the air on before we got in the car. :cloud9:

This was as we said goodbye to our car!:sad2:

Check it out-one month from today we will be on our way to WDW!:cloud9:

Me again. I was checking rates for my Dsis's inlaws on Alamo and got them a great rate of $188 for a standard size for 7 days. Then I rechecked mine since I noticed that there were 2 coupons to try if using a VISA card and it was cheaper with one of them. So I rebooked a mid-size (hoping to upgrade while there) for $287. That's for 11 days. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Jumping onboard!

Loved reading your story and I'm enjoying following your trip planning. I will probably pick up a few planning tips and might even try a PTR of my own!!

Thanks! Where are you staying? We are at POP.

I will post an update tomorrow. We are seriously thinking of going to Disneyland this evening. I wanted to go first thing this a.m. but couldn't find anyone to go with me. :sad1:

We are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first night, and then at the Beach Club for the next seven nights. I wish I lived close to Disneyland like you. I'm so jealous!

You are so lucky to be live so close to Disneyland. We all went in Jan 09 and thought it was just magic. DH and I also went in 1992 with DD1 an unknown passenger. We would have gone back this time but also want to do Harry Potter. :wizard: It's costing us a lot more in airfares this time but it will probably be the last big trip we do as a family so we are making the most of it. We are also doing 10 days in Honolulu on the way back to recover.

We are staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins. Love the idea of a Cabin in the woods and a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the parks. :cloud9:

And I'm jealous you are staying at AKL, even if only for one night. ;)

I've always thought staying in the cabins sounds like fun. We usually only go with 3 people so a regular room makes more sense.

10 days in Honolulu-now I'm jealous!

DD12 would love to to HP. Just don't think we will make it this year-maybe next? Unless I surprise her for her birthday this year (in 1 week). Maybe we can swing a day at US to see HP. It is her favorite book and movie series. She started reading them in 1st grade. Oh, and honey if you are reading this and I do decide we can do HP, acted surprised, okay?:rotfl2:

HP was the clincher for us to go all the way to Florida. We all love HP! DD18 started reading them when she was in grade 1 or 2 and was first in line each time a new book or movie came out. DD15 and DD13 followed where she led. With the release of the last movie we had a movie marathon sleepover where they all had a couple of friends stay over. DD18 then when off with her friends to a midnight viewing and I took the younger ones in the morning.
