Live from WDW for 9 days, the Nicki and Todd dining review with a ton of PICS!!!!

MickeyNikki~This might be a stupid question, so I apologize in advance, but could you please tell me what a falafel actually is? I'm curious to try some new things while we're at Disney, but I'm kind of a picky eater and don't want to order something and then end up hating it. Thanks!

Sure! I saw it on the food network, Diners Drive Ins and Dives. A falafel is mashed chick peas with seasoning and bread crumbs, fried and broken up on a flat bread with red onions, tomatoes, lettuce and that amazing cucumber dressing. It was the best thing ever, very similar to an eggplant sandwich that my mom always made us kids. The CM said it would be spicy but it wasnt, it was just delicious!!!!

I saw the same episode of Diners, Drive Ins & Dives and DF has been itching to try falafel. I told him about the sandwich and it's on our list! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks!! I like hummus, so I may have to give that a try. Can they leave off the tomatoes and onions?

THANKS A TON! We are leaving in the am for our trip and I just called and added Boma for Breakfast and added Tangerine Cafe to my list for eats to try the Falafel and definately the marianated olives! YUMMO!

I just may have to give Tangierine Cafe another try. We didn't care for the shawarma platters at all, but the falafel really sounds and looks good!

You will love it!

Yes they can leave off anything, add more of anything and put the dressing on the side.

You are so welcome! The olives are great but they are a bit salty so make sure you drink alot of water, or Tangerine Daquiries!

I was going to get the shawarma platter, chicken, but that falafel wrap kept calling my name!

LOVE your reviews!! I too will try Tangierine Cafe again b/c of you. The sharwarma platter was NOT good on my trip before last....it was downright awful!!:scared1: The lamb was cooked to DEATH and almost black on the outside....I chewed it for a few seconds but then decided my calories were best spent somewhere else....

I thought the chicken and lamb shawarma looked weird, almost rubbery...glad I did not get it. We are going to have Epcot week at my house next week, can you tell we miss WDW? Monday night is Morocco and I am going to make my own falafel, coucous and other stuff, Tuesday is Germany so we will have brats with kraut and spaetzel, Wed is China so I will make chicken fried rice and egg rolls, Thursday is Italy so I will make a baked lasagne and Friday I am making DH take me to the local Japanese place....SHOULD I TAKE PICS :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

That's what we didn't like - it was the texture of beef jerky!:scared:

Sounds like a great "Epcot week" you've got planned. Uh yeah, we want pics.:rotfl:

I am sure, with your photography skills and culinary descriptions, we would all be fine with seeing what you eat everyday:rotfl: We will eat vicariously through you.:surfweb:

Most nights are "Disney" nights at my place because I think Disney food and recipes are generally fantastic. I make them all the time. If you want to recreate some dishes and/or share your authentic Disney recipes check out the Disney Recipe Exchange :goodvibes

AMAZING reviews! Thanks so much! Everytime I read a thread like this I look forward to my own trip more. :)

Awesome report.

I'm sorry to hear about the snafu at OKW checking out, the dismal Yacht Club breakfast, and the guys from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" joyriding your car.

But to be fair, I think the Yacht Club breakfast is sporadic. I noticed the Beach Club breakfast had the same items as the Yacht Club, just with characters. I ate breakfast at Yacht Club Galley in October just a few days after Brenda, and my buffet was ok. The apple blintzes were delish!

Your reviews really were great, and I want to re-visit Yachtsman again. The problem is that the food and wine festival will get in the way. I'll be at WDW during the same time as you (overlapping both Brenda and you). I'm sure we'll be having some great food then, too. :)

Thanks everyone, glad you are enjoying the review!
