None of us could sleep last night! We are so excited to start this long anticpated holiday. Although it was a balmy 70 degrees here in VA yesterday, it's only in the high 20's now! Yuck! We'll have to wear winter coats to the airport. Only a two hour flight and we're in Orlando. We're looking forward to sunny skies and warm breezes when we arrive (not to mention the Starbuck's in the airport . . .LOL).
We are here! We had a stop over in Las Vegas yesterday to have Thanksgiving with family. The temperature for us went from 22 to 68, and it seems just as nice here in Florida. We left on the red eye last night and arrived in Orlando at about 6 this morning. Got a rental van from Budget, and drove down to Port Canaveral. We are here at the Radisson now!
I wanted to get a good layout of the land, so drove by the terminal. It was so neat to see it for real after about 2 years of preparation and hearing so much about it! It is unbelievable to be starting our most anxiously awaited vacation! I think a few other DISers are going to be staying tonight here tonight too! Hope to catch them later
I know a few of the others have to have internet for business purposes on the ship, so I am so glad to see a LIVE thread for our cruise!
Hope to post later!
We are almost packed. Hubby is taking our baby (Rottweiler doggie) to get his nails trimmed, and I am going out to fight the masses shopping today. We should have everything done tonight (a first for us for any vacation!)
Hope those of you that are here in the area already are enjoying yourselves. Looks like a really nice day today.
If you happen to be touring around Merritt Island's mall, maybe I'll see you! I'm sure most of you will be enjoying our weather and the hotel pool!
See you tomorrow. Here's our phone numbers if you need to ask any questions about anything today: (Lisa)321-749-1486 and (Steve)321-698-5647.
I have not posted in a long time, but I wanted to wish everyone "Happy Vacationing". My DS6 has been saying how he loves vacation, but he really wants to get on the boat. My older DS is planning his evenings around Quarter Masters, chicken tenders, and movies.
My DH has been golfing for two days in preparation for Mahogany Run. We have been staying at the World Golf Village. Excellent place. We are getting so excited but we still need to make a final run to Walmart for the things we forgot - DH belt and black socks. It is not vacation unless you forget something.
Oh well, everyone have a blessed evening. We will meet in less than 24 hours now. I can feel the motion of the ship already. I guess I had better start the dramamine.
I went down to the Radisson pool tonight, and walked around a little while the kids were swimming, but it was too dark to really see faces, and since my eyesight is rather bad, and I didn't want to stare at people, I definitely couldn't see any of our lime green mickeys. So looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!
Thanks Lampy, hope you guys had a great last day at CC day today, but now it's OUR TURN!!!
We're in Iowa and on the 12/3 Magic. On your way to the airport - loose the jackets! I always leave cold Iowa in sandals and warm attire, and I can't wait to don the sandals again. Have a good trip, save something for us next week.
Greetings from Orlando!! Well we arrived into Tampan okay...(and yes, I only have ONE checked bag! ) but alas, the good vibes from Thanksgiving were tempered a bit because Avis gave away our car! The problem is that we're going to have 4 adults and a baby PLUS luggage for each! That all won't fit in the minivan they offered because the 2nd row doesn't have a middle seat (for the infant carrier). :::sigh::: But it did okay for yesterday with just us and my mom.
Had turkey with my aunts and cousin in Tampa (they threw me a surprise birthday party ) and then PASSED OUT! I hope everyone stuck with their packing lists!!! We have forgotten at least 5 important things (camera, sunglasses etc) that we needed to buy new or borrow while we're here.
But now, we're settled into the hotel. Swapped out the rental for something larger and now all I need to do is go get our friends from MCO. They are bringing us good ole Philly subs!!!! mmmmmmm
Right now (11:05am) lots of you are hanging out in the terminal waiting for your chance to board the ship. We're thinking about you!! I'm sure you are bursting with excitement and anticipation and I hope you are meeting a lot of your fellow DISers. Have a GREAT cruise, but save some Lobster, Beer, Shrimp, Mango Soup and FUN .... our turn is next week.
Can you let us know about the boarding procedures? Are they what we have been hearing - that you get a number as your go into the terminal?
Sorry, I tried to capture the Magic sailing by the Two Palms cam tonight, but the cam seemed to be stuck for about 10 minutes, just about the time the Magic was sailing past. At least I was able to get a shot of the Magic leaving the port for y'all. Have a MAGICal week!!!
Anyone "live" from the ship? This was my first day working in the terminal while the Magic was in port, hope everyone got off to a wonderful vacation this afternoon.
