Spent a long day traveling. Got home at about midnight. I don't know why I'm still up, but there is no doubt that tomorrow will be spent recovering.
We had a great cruise. Once the green shirts were gone, though, I had a hard time identifying people. There were a few that I went up to and introduced myself to and Molli & Bev came over and said hi to myself and dh, but otherwise -- ???? Met Doogie and Kenny and his wife, and TCD. I know I talked to Goofyhouk because I asked him about his Goofy pal in the high chair at dinner! That would have to be Goofyhouk, right?? And I stopped by the Lampy/Willie dinner table and said hi. Then on the last night, I recognized the Icemanpad couple from photos and so I tapped Lisa and introduced myself and dh to them.
But all in all, I think I spent a lot of time looking around for people and not sure if who was who I thought they were!
I was a lot confused. I didn't really fit into the group thing well enough, I guess -- told ya'll I wasn't all that outgoing! I wish I could have met more of you and been around to enjoy the group camaraderie. What's up with this: we brought 12 Corona's onboard and ended up leaving four of them in the stateroom when we left. Didn't get to drink them all.
DS was great friends with Hunter and I didn't realize that he was part of our dis group until later - even after talking with Hunter's mom. Man, I am so slow.
DD Lauren spent some time with the 5J's. I helped scream for the Bon Jovi's, but I just learned that the 5J dad was one of the group. I'll have to see some photos of this. I think my eldest DD was hanging out with the 5J son, but she didn't do an all-nighter so that is a relief.
Costa Maya wasn't impressive, although we did the Chacchoben ruins and loved it. The town of Mahahual was really unimpressive as was the restaurant we ate at there. The restaurant was outside the village a bit and we were seated (all 6 of us) at a square folding card table right next to a massage table...with the beach behind it. So for a nice view of the beach, you had to look past the thumping and mushing of the body under the masseuse's paws...ok, yecch. We were, literally, about 2 feet from the massage table.
And there were bees all over the food and the drinks, really awful. Anyway, we walked through the town, quickly. Kids took a dip in the ocean and then we went back through the port town for a short time and back to the ship.
Having also missed Grand Cayman, I'd say we really came up short on the sightseeing portion of our cruise, but really these things couldn't be helped.
Castaway Cay was great. I was taking videos of the Wonder when the horn blowing duel began so I have a long video of that -- it was very cool.
The water was cold - but on Monday it was a bit warmer out, I think. On Friday, I didn't go in much. But man, got eaten alive by sand fleas. I am still itching. We did the stingray excursion at CC, because of missing it on GC, but I was not impressed by it much.
OK, I haven't said the GOOD things and there were many.
Seven days was the perfect length to cruise. The 3-night just leaves you wanting more. Seven was the best. Our servers were Pairoj and Jonathan and they were great!
The food was really good and the dessert buffet was so impressive even though I didn't eat anything because I was still so full from dinner. The Pirate party was so fun and the sailaway was great, too!
My 2 youngest were begging all day to do it again, but I think this will be our last with Disney. We've cruised with both the Wonder and the Magic now and will probably try a different line just for the "newness" of a different ship.
I thought it was so funny that the first people we met on the ship were Mickeyhugger and family -- in the buffet line. And then when we were done cruising and at the Hyatt while waiting for our flight, we walked out of the elevator and at the same exact moment out of a different elevator -- there is Mickeyhugger!
Tomorrow I'll probably spend uploading my hundreds of photos so maybe I'll get to post a few here.
Wish I could have met more of you and socialized a bit with those that I did meet, but I wasn't sure of what/where/when most of the time and spent a good deal of the cruise wandering the ship and not sure if there was something going on or what! Just a bit dazed and confused, that's me.
Talk soon,
Kris
