LIVE FROM THE 11/19 Turkeyday Magic....

Good Morning all. (Well, how 'good' is it after a spectacular week on the Magic, having to say good-bye to over 100 new DISBOARD friends.? :guilty: ) I'm so glad that we took pictures and lots of footage to keep the memories alive.

I'm still numb, but we did get a good night's rest, even though we weren't slowly rocking. We were so exhausted, even after sleeping during the day at the Hyatt. We have about half our suitcases unpacked, still have to do laundry, and put up the Christmas tree today. :faint: (The outside decorations will have to wait until next weekend.)

I stayed up late last night watching the first night at AP (when the ship was rocking, and most had already gone back to their rooms, :sad1: including me,) and wished I'd been well enough to see it in person. We also recorded Pirate night pirate: (the deck party.) Wasn't that incredible! I was awestruck. Rob's arm was sore by the end of the night from holding the camera, but he didn't want to miss one bit. John (I think I have your name right? 5J's?) did you record footage of Pirate night at Parrot Cay? Would you be able to burn an extra (do I have that terminology right? LOL!)

I also wish we could repeat the whole week, to get to know everyone better. We had such a great time, too, the last night, standing in the hallway visiting with John, Julie, Trey and Tonya. Oh, and Lampsky, Rob has great footage of you on Pirate night dancing to 'YMCA.' :rotfl: Goofyhouk, I wish someone had recorded you having your picture taken with Goofy on semi-formal night. For those of you who didn't see, Goofyhouk (Paul) was wearing Santa Goofy ears, and as he approached the REAL Goofy, Goofy looked at Paul, and doubled over, pointed and laughed (silently of course). A HA HA HA HA HA! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Where are the rest of you Thanksgiving cruisers? We're eager to read your posts. :earsgirl: Zeke11, I thought it was such a funny coincidence too! Meeting you the first day, and seeing you before our flight home. Oh, to do it all again! :sunny:

I love the photos that were posted! Awesome! I cannot wait to see more.

Thanks for the mini report, Kris! It was great to hear your thoughts and it sounds like you had a really nice time with your family. Hope you're able to post your photos (and hopefully some video?).

Hey Melody -

Is there a website where I can post a video? It may be a few days before I upload it to my computer, but then I need a host. Let me know if there's a place for this!

Today is the first time back on the BOARD!
I had no idea there was anyone concerned about my DS16
Let's just say he slept in our room two nights
The first night, and the last(By extreme force)
Some DISers said they saw him sleeping friday morning on deck 10 at 7am.
I hope there are other parents that will here their kids stories from the week and send me an email.

Friday morning 2am he called from the stack and said he was heading down
i went back to sleep, woke up and he was not there

As i am typing this my head is still rocking back and forth
DS will be grounded for 4 weeks
I am sure he had the most fun on board
if i ask him, it will just be another lie.

John(sigh)

Reality check!!!!
It was a great week, although those green shirted people seemed to take over the boat...... everyone we had "met" through the boards were very nice and alot of fun!!!

I have to say I was a little envious of the people boarding the Magic yesterday- our first sight of her on the 19th was not as bright and cheery!!

As we made our way back up 95 to Virginia , we watched the outside temperature drop lower- 13 hours after we left port, it was 35 at home.

Our first clue that the cruise was over was when we stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch and they brought us a check when we were finished eating!!

Catching up on laundry.........

We sure can relate!

We're still slowly unpacking and doing LOTS of laundry.

Reality set in too fast. This morning, I couldn't go up to Topsider's for breakfast. I had to prepare my own coffee. And Rachel wasn't able to go up to Pluto's for a hamburger at lunch. I'm missing everyone we met from the DISboards.

As soon as I know what the Texas lotto jackpot numbers are, I'll pay for everyone's next DCL trip so we can all do this again! :flower:

We were not ready to face reality after we got off the Magic yesterday. So, on our way home to South Florida we stopped at the Disney Vero Beach Resort. It was beautiful. The sun was shining and the water was beautiful. We ate lunch at their restaurant--Shutters!! It was all great....however....at the end of the meal they presented us w/ a check!!! It was so weird to have to pay at the end of the meal!!

Then reality really set in---the trees and our mailbox are still down, there is still a large stump in front of our house. We went to buy groceries, cooked dinner last night and breakfast this morning and finished 3 loads of laundry!! Tomorrow it's back to work. We much rather be back w/ ya'all on the Magic!!

We went straight to WL concierge to keep reality from setting in; we are here until Tuesday.

We had a great time meeting many of the Green Team Members and can't wait to go back on 08/19/06.

today at CC was UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!.......here we are gettting off the Magic at 9:45 when a CM says "hey look there is the Wonder". They couldn't dock due to weather and they sailed right past CC on the adult side of the island and then did a "slow pass" right by the family beach and both ships had a "horn sound off". We all have pics on CC with the two ships in the back ground......absolutly UNBELIEVEABLE sights..........I have a short movie on my camera if I can figure it out I'll post next week!!!!!!!

P.S. Pike..eeee is awsome........I need to send a special thanks to him for all he has done for ALL on our sailing.....

Hey there - I am not sure if this has been posted, so my apologies if it has. We were on the Wonder as it did the pass by CC. With the switching of the 3 and 4 day Wonder cruises for Thanksgiving, Saturday was our scheduled day at sea. The captain of the Wonder decided to go up and see what the weather was like at CC. My DW and I were enjoying a Palo brunch when we went close to CC. I don't think a person (crew or guest) was inside. Everyone was out looking at the Magic.

We are at MCO waiting for our flight home, and my battery is about to go dead. I will post more later.

ohhh....not to repeat or one-up Lampy's pic b/c i had my photo loaded in photobucket and ready to post long before i made it to his so i'm going anyways and here is Bev (alreadyexcitedGrammy) and myself at CC with the Magic and Wonder in the background

what a week! my head is spinning, no wait my head is swaying

home late this evening after a long day of travel, i was thinking as i was changing into my flannel jammies 'these jeans i put on in my stateroom this morning, these jeans fit me sooo much better 10 days ago, these jeans have a mud spot from horseback riding in Costa Maya'

this was our 2nd DCL and we were very happy with our service. my only complaint would be CC food -- much to be improved on there IMO

so much more outweighed in the postive direction.......

cruise staff was Pike, a dark skinned fellow with a name sounding like "Leon" who was very very helpful and friendly when i needed help, two gals -- one from Australia (Amy?), oh man i can't remember but they were GREAT in pub night!

I am a complete newbie to this list, but after seeing the sea of green t-shirts and all the people who knew to bring pirate costumes I had to check it out. Imagine my surprise when I saw the photo of the Magic and Wonder and noticed that dead center in the lagoon is me! I'm there on a float towing my son shooting a pic of the ships with a sport cam.

This was our first Disney Cruise as a family. My wife and I have been on a similar cruise on the Carnival Triumph and I have sailed the Med on the Grand Princess (for work, believe it or not).

This boat is beautiful and without question the best cruise afloat for families with young kids. Our kids loved the kids clubs so much they begged to go there every minute. This saved our sanity because we mistakenly booked the late dinner seating and our kids had no patience to sit through a 90 minute (slow) meal that late every night.

We were disappointed by the stop-and-go at Grand Cayman, but we quickly booked the "Military-Style ATV Jungle Trip To a Beach" at Costa Maya and had a blast. I have my Tortuga Rum catalog in hand and I'll just have to order those tasty rum cakes instead of picking them up.

I haven't finished the thread yet - has anyone created a Flikr group for this cruise? It might be a great way to share photos.

Congrats on your group trip - I was envious of the sea of green and all the group spirit.

We were also on the Thanksgiving WOnder that passed the Magic docked at CC. Got some great shots of the Magic while it was at CC on Friday. Maybe you can even find yourself on the beach (OK - we were not quite that close).

One officer told us it is the first time the ships have been together while sailing since the Magic went to escort the Wonder home when it had just been built. Other times they have been in dock at Port Everglads (hurricane) and passing in the channel at the Port after the Magic returned from drydock. It had been more than a year since they were together.

Everyone on the Wonder was so excited - started seeing the Magic about 10 AM and actually started passing CC about 11:30 with the closest point being 11:56. Seeing a full island is so different than approaching and leaving when it is empty - and seeing a ship in the port is just amazing - everyone agreed it was probably the most unique and memorable part of the cruise.

Officers and crew members were near the crew members pool, taking photos with different groupings of officers and crew members with the Magic in the background. You could tell their excitement.

Will post photos soon.

Hey, princess: Tink...are you sure that photo is from the 2005 cruise? The construction worker....guy in the yellow hard hat...looks just like Teresa's hubby, Mark. He did the Village People last year...I'm pretty sure that is him so the photo would be from 2004. If I'm right, either the Tinkerbell tights have cut off the brain cells or finally the Miller Lite is having some effect.... :earseek:

Hey Wonder neighbors slindamood and thegales! I was hoping we'd hear from cruisers on the Wonder and what they thought of that AWESOME moment when the Magic and Wonder were close at CC. I felt bad that your Nassau day was cancelled (so was our day at GC :sad2: ) but DCL certainly seemed to make the best of a bad situation, didn't they? When the two ships played the horns, OMG! We were all (both ships) sharing a rare moment! I got goose bumps! :goodvibes I wished we'd brought our binoculars (left them in the stateroom  ) so I could've seen all of you waving from the deck. I wasn't sure if any of you could see us, but many of us were waving hard. That was one of our best DCL moments our family shared. We shall never forget! :earsgirl:

Fool Throttle - so glad to have you in the pix - sorry, I would have never recognized you :goodvibes Your first post and it's on the Magic thread - we are honored

Dan and I both (and I talked with Molli today and she too) were still really feeling the swaying today. I have basically been having a (silent) pity party all day - returning to the Ohio "grey" has a way of just taking ya down!
I am slowly easing into that reality check - it hit me this afternoon that tomorrow I actually do have to wear "shoes" to work - yuk! (Yes, yes, Andrew, I hear your fabulous warm weather report whispered in my ear!)

It was great to meet so many DISers and yet like others have mentioned, sure did miss out on meeting some of you. There were so many comments I heard about the shirts - Andrew - thanks once again, for making that happen - it was fun to be green!

As for service, the couple of glitches we encountered were dealt with immediately (we too had a toilet that didn't work and an unpleasant odor (probably tub drain) but our stateroom hostess was on top of the situation and went above and beyond to get it corrected. Dining error turned out to be a great thing for us :teeth: First night we sat with Mimi (Fletch88) and Arianna (DD) while Molli's family seated with Priscilla (Mickeyhugger) Robert and Rachel. The head server profusely apologized and said that we would be with our family from then on - wahla - next morning we found that no one was "taken away" they just sat us all together - we liked that fix :flower:

I like all the posts from those on the Wonder re our meeting - sounds like they were having as much fun as we were, BUT we were at CC and they weren't :cool1: I am thinking that our TA - Barb (Incognito) was on the Wonder - surprised haven't seen a post from her yet about it.

The pixs posted have been fun - can't wait for more. Sure hope that all those celebrating birthdays and anniversarys have wonderful memories. And, DIS friends - that was a great surprise for you all to sing to Dan on his bday - very special  But - hey- you ALL are a great bunch of DISers!

No re-booking for us - Dan says too many other places to go and things to see - but I'll be back following your threads as you get ready to sail again!

Hi Bev! :wave2:

The feeling you're having is contagious here, too. I feel so 'down' because our great Thanksgiving cruise is over. :sad2:

We certainly enjoyed our dinners with you and Dan! :earsgirl: And of course, Mollie, Preston, Taylor, Paige, Ariana and Mimi. :grouphug:

I look forward to your future posts. (Feel as if we've known each other a long time now, LOL!)

Here is the photo we took from the Wonder last Friday when closest to the Magic. We were sailing around during a day at sea - it was a special 4 day cruise for Thanksgiving that set out on Wednesday, with Thursday at Nassau and Friday at sea, then Saturday for CC.

http://sdhanna.150m.com/Nov2005Cruise/MagicFromWonderCastaway.JPG

The weather was perfect the entire cruise - smooth seas, sunny, and warm.

It was SO EXCITING to see the Magic. Because we were all on board, we could get regular updates about our progress to meet the Magic and the history of the two ships meeting.

I have the same photo in a separate thread - will post more in that thread - some show the beach.

OK... below I'm posting what I posted on what "was" our board... just in case ....
________________________________________________________________
Well it was an interesting first cruise and I must say that "knowing" people ahead of time really was great!!! It was so nice to see a familiar face and be able to have a chat!

I wish I had met everyone but I really did not, of course having a half empty dinner table didn't help much!! It was strange that the Codysmom family and ours were placed at tables that had seating for four more but those seats were not taken by anyone? :confused3

I am also glad that none of my immediate group suffered any seasickness (starting taking pills before boarding) although my DS unforunately had an eyewitness event of someone barfing and literally ran up 5 flights yelling "mom, get my pill I don't want to get sick".

I want to thank the anonymous magnet man or woman who so nicely decorated our stateroom door - that really was nice!!! I took pictures and we have them as memories!

As a side note... on the last night I removed the magnets and my DH couldn't find our room :rotfl2:

Also, and I don't believe it was the same individual, (definitely a different creative touch) but whoever is hiding behind the Lampsky magnet placement on my door .... you gave me my biggest laugh of the trip!! I cracked up and trust me Lampsky is now part of our Turkey Day souveniers!

Hope everyone had a safe journey back to reality! :(

Sherri

Hey guys!
Sorry it's taken so long to start posting these, just am SOOOO darn tired!! Trying to come down after all that partying!!

What a blast to meet so many of you...we really enjoyed your company!!! :flower:
Will start posting pix but will have to do more tomorrow...MONDAY uggggh! after the kids try to go back to school!

Laurie

OK...HERE'S THE GUYS!!!
