Little tiny things that irritate you about WDW...Let's vent.

QUOTE: Next time you're eating breakfast at your hotel...watch what the foreigners are eating versus what the Americans are eating.

Do tell, what have you observed "foreigners" eating?

P.S. No offense intended.

"Us" Americans are usually eating donuts, cinnamon rolls, super duper sugar crisp cereals...while our visitors from across the pond are usually eating much healthier items...more fruits/grains/etc.

ooh yay! I love zombie threads!

My number one pet peeve has always been the guests. Luckily, I am one of those non-observant types, so I don't get too bothered by a lot of what goes on. But these are the things I have encountered personally:

-People smoking in non-smoking areas. I know it's a free country, and it's your decision to smoke or not, but please be curteous and respectful. You are participating in something that can have serious repercussions for other people (such as my BF and I who have severe allergies).

-People with strollers/wheelchairs/ECVs who try to use said instrument to get to the front of a crowd faster. My BFs foot was run over by some lady on an ECV a few years ago...there was not even a crowd, she just needed to get through the doors faster than us for whatever reason. We're all going to the same place and you mowing me down isn't going to save you that much time. You're on VACATION! Take some time to stop and smell the pretzels/churros/etc.

-People who complain about EVERYTHING! Let it go! Seriously! You're on VACATION!

-People who don't clean up after themselves. This is a big pet peeve of mine in general...not just as WDW. If you use a toilet, flush it until the water is clear or debris free. If you drop a paper towel or some TP on the floor, pick it up and throw it away. If you eat at a CS restaurant, please throw out your trash when you get up.

-People who change diapers in "public." Being a responsible parent means doing what you have to do to take care of the child. You don't want me letting my dog poop on your lawn, I don't want to see your kids poop while waiting in line to get my lunch. I'm sorry you have to walk ALL THAT WAY to the bathroom to use the changing station, but please...just do it.

People aside, the only thing I really about Disney specifically that really irks me is the scheduling. A lot of us plan our vacations out a year in advance. We make our ADRs 180 days out like good little DISers, but they don't release special event dates until the "last minute." For example: We are arriving in Disney on 10/19. Our ADR day was 4/22. We are planning to go to MNSSHP twice during our trip. Soo...I had to make ADRs on 4/22, but they didn't officially release the party dates until the following week. It's like if you don't have Park Hoppers, you just have to make due. Luckily, I didn't have to make any changes to my dining schedule but I hate that nothing is coordinated. They should release the dates of special events along with the park hours for that month so that people can really plan everything and not have to worry about maybe having to make changes. I especially feel bad for the people who make ADRs at Le Cellier or CRT. It's impossible to get ressie's there - even 180 days out. I hate to think about trying to make changes!

Please don't take offense: but I'd hate to see your list if you were an observant person!!! ;) :lmao:

My peeve isn't just at WDW...loud talkers drive me nuts. I don't need to hear every word of your conversation. Loud talkers on the phone is worse. Then I'm only hearing HALF of the conversation!

Please don't take offense: but I'd hate to see your list if you were an observant person!!! ;) :lmao:

Touché! :lmao: Now that you mention it, even I would hate to see that list!

I guess what it comes down to is that I notice the rudeness of people more than the "faults" of WDW. Maybe it's in how I was raised....rudeness stands out to me because, IMO, people should know better. I don't find a lot of faults with WDW because they are, in fact, a business. I don't expect them to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.

when standing in a crowded line and someone HAS to drop POO gas!! YUCK! and there is no where to run to escape it, so you have to sit there and smell the air out of someone's butt!!!

Okay, I'll play. My pet peeve especially at WDW is parents that do not control their kids. Yes, I know kids aree excited and can melt down, but people PLEASE teach your kids to walk, not run; not to stop right in the walkway; wait your turn at the bathroom or getting food/drink; do not play with all the toys in the stores.

Good morning, guess you did not get the "memo" about bringing up old threads:rotfl:, J/k, I really don't see what the big deal is, It's like a first amendment right, you should have free speech no matter how old the thread is. I got a kick out of reading it this am. Have a great day

Oops! I'm sorry if I broke a rule--I paid no attention to the dates on the posts, and just assumed it was an active thread. Do I have to go sit on the "Naughty Step"?:confused3:) Thanks for the gentle hint as to protocol in the future. People are so much nicer here than on some of the other boards.

This is why we always bring an Apple Airport Express with us for wireless capability in the room. :thumbsup2

What a brilliant suggestion! Thank you, it makes perfect sense. I grew up without computers (the 53 in "Pongo53" is my birth year), and things the computer literates take for granted are revelations to me sometimes. What's the old quote about any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic? :wizard:

I'll bring an old router with us next time we come. I just had no idea that the imagineers were all busy at the parks, and the resort tech was being left up to the gargoyles from Hunchback.:scared1:

So, to recap, thanks for a fun forum, and I hope I didn't mess things up reviving an old thread.

The coffee - WHY WHY WHY can I not get DECENT Coffee while I'm on vacation. What I wouldn't give for a Starbucks by the end of the week. Not that I'm DVC - I bring my own coffee from home.

Coke Products - We are Pepsi people. And I understand having only Coke products in the resorts and parks - but the Hess gas stations also only have Coke products in their stores!

~Amanda

Our plan is to bring our French Press and make our own coffee in the AM, we bring our cream, sugar and to go cups...We're coffee snobs so it works for us.

:thumbsup2

We just got back a little less than a week ago.

My only gripe is the strollers. I'm serious. We saw strollers the size and weight of small SUVs with battery operated fans, multiple cupholders, memory foam padding, etc. That of course took people 10 minutes to fold and took up the space of 2 people on the buses, times multiple families. You know you are going to have to get on the bus. Remove your kid and fold the stroller sometime BEFORE you need to actually step on the bus. If they're too heavy to carry for 5 minutes, they need to be walking by themselves, no?

We saw the same scenario repeated multiple times. Dad is shoving around a huge, outdoor-rugged, double (or even TRIPLE) wide stroller, while mom stands idly about. Time comes to fold it and everyone has to extricate their cups, phones, sunglasses, shopping bags, etc in order to find the 7 buttons needed to fold the thing, which only folds it in half anyway, such that is still as wide as the wheelchair bay on the bus considering these things are 2 or even 3x wider than a standard wheelchair.

These things should be banned. They take up too much space and don't fit ANYWHERE, including rides, shops, restaurants, etc.

I traveled all over the world when I was a child. This exact situation is why they invented the "umbrella stroller," a small, very compact and lightweight foldable stroller with a small sunshade, often with a carry strap. My parents used to not even bring a stroller with them to the airport and would buy one for $15 at walmart or similar when we got wherever we were going.

Does this work if you have quadruplets? no, though they do make double umbrella strollers. I think if disney really wanted to make money, they should ban all personal strollers and make you buy or rent one of an appropriate size from them, because it really was out of control. If your stroller is so huge that it needs one whole person to man it on the bus, it is too big for public transport and is really more trouble than it's worth since you're going to be taking the kids in and out of it 25 times a day since it doesn't fit anywhere.

My pet peeve is that my Dad can no longer ride Peter Pan's Flight because he cannot walk fast enough even on the slowed conveyor belt and there isn't a way to stop the ride, or put a wheelchair car on the ride. (like Nemo, HM and Buzz Lightyear) It makes me sad because he used to love that ride so much.

I always think it would be wonderful if all of the parks were on the monorail system.

Surely at the end of the day they should return the compliment of having a stroller by pushing their parents back to the hotel?

I saw a couple of kids pushing their Dad (or older male member of their party) in the double stroller. It was rather cute.

YAY Zombie thread :woohoo:

I don't fault disney for alot but here goes why make everything in China come on we could boost our own economy a bit.

As for other travelers:

Please stop yelling at your children take them aside and talk to them privately. Please stop letting your kids in the hot tub. There are very few adult only areas and I know that when I travel with little ones they are not allowed in the hot tub. Disney even puts up a sign to let you know your kids don't belong in there. Also please stop posting stories about how your kids had lice but you thought it was ok to go to Disney with it because then it would be dead by the time you get home. Because its not ok. Keep sick or infested people home its not fare for people who have immune issues and could get seriously ill since they have have been saving up and buy travel insurance so that if they get sick they can reschedule to go on vacation and get sick because you couldn't be bothered. Example some people see pertussis as just another cold but if you give it to some infants they can die. Or that little flu that you have could turn out to be something more. If you wouldn't want your kids to catch it don't take it where other peoples children can catch it.

Oh and for the smokers please stick to the smoking area its not ok to smoke while just walking through the park.

I just found a new little irritation.

People who don't plan... at all.

And I'm not talking about those of us who have been there in the past and like to wing it, because as I've gone more times I've gotten that way too.

No, I mean the people who have never been there, never look up park hours, never even know how to get into the parks ("Bus system? What bus system?") and just grab a map and go once they get into the parks.

These are the people who get mad at you when something is being refurbished, when they can't get into a restaurant for dinner, or if the line's 2 hours long for Soarin.

And I won't make the mistake of trying to tour with them again! :rotfl:

I HATE when people go or take sick kids to wdw and drag them around the park!! I cant tell you how many times I heard last year "I think dd/ds has h1n1 but we are NOT going to cancel our vacation" I am sorry but when you KNOW you are taking your sick child to a theme park around all those people you ARE a bad parent!

Continuing with the stroller theme, I hate when it is park closing and the masses are slowly trudging to the exits. It's crowded and everyone is pretty much forced to take itty bitty baby steps. Then there's always some family who thinks that they can use the stroller as a battering ram to get them through the crowd. Grrrr, I hate that!!!!

In the same situation, it irks the poo out of me when the crowds are working their way to the exit and the scooter people beep to get people out of their way. Grrrr, I hate that too!

For Real. :thumbsup2

I admit once I turned and stopped a stroller and gave the adult the stink eye. It didn't happen again. Storming through isn't going to get you out any faster. I did joke with my in-laws when we traveled with the baby, we could do this with her stroller after we put a plow on the front. We didn't though!

The obnoxious parents who ignore their kids and gripe about everything and say they can stick the DDP up their rear then scream at their kids to BE HAPPY.

Why are people so angry at WDW?
