Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Lisa
I am a little behind here but thank goodness your DH is Ok.

Tell your DS thumbs up on the 100s- studying does help! Can someone tell my DD19 at college that and it is not all about socializing? HAHA!

Linda

Hello Ladies :wave2: I'm here. Haven't fallen off of the face of the earth yet. :upsidedow

Things are nuts here and as usual I am trying to be superwoman. I can't believe the weekend flew by and it is already Tuesday. (I was trying to get DD to do Monday's homework :sad2:)

Saturday we had a Halloween Party and Hayride to trick or treat. Lots of fun, but it wore me out. Can't really tell you what I did Sunday cause the hay and fire we had turned my sinus' inside out. :faint: Are sinus' really needed? If I weren't such a chicken I just might be tempted to find out. But.....I'm a chicken when it comes to doctors, needles and surgeries. :scared:

Yesterday was Monday if that tells you anything. I did go to my class and had a great time. Today I did 45 minutes of zumba by myself and what a work out. :thumbsup2 It rained today so DD didn't have soccer.

DS is still doing good in Biology, had a 90 on a paper today and DH is doing fine, for which I am very thankful.

I have an issue with Gram and I really need prayers right now.

Over 13 years ago, my parents sold their property to their neighbor with the condition that they could live there until they both died. Things have been fine. Between my oldest DB, my DH and me, we have taken care of things. Fixed what needs to be fixed, took care of the yard, etc. Now all of the sudden the owner/neighbor wants money each month. He said with the way taxes have gone up and now he has liability ins on the property, that he needs help paying it. Since Gram lives there for free, he wants my brothers and I to pay him for her to continue living there. We have told him no twice and he is trying hard to guilt us into it. He is trying to change the agreement that they have and I don't agree with that. Mad me really mad when he said 14 years was long enough for her to live there. What? Was she suppose to die by now? DF passed away in 2005. She has lived there for 45 years, raised her family and buried her husband. She fully expected to live out her life there. Now this guy says we have to pay or she is going to have to move. I am in the process of trying to get some help with this, but the big issue is going to be that the agreement isn't in writing, it's verble. DB and DH think that since many people know about the agreement and it has been like this for over 13 years, that a precedence has been set. I hope so.

That guy just made me so mad each time he called. But the last time I spoke to him I was able to keep my cool. Just kept saying "nope, we are not going to pay you." He wanted me to tell Gram that she had 30 days to move and I refused that also. I told him, it was his agreement with her and he could tell her he wanted to change it. That really upset him. Said he would send a letter instead. :sad2: He knows what he is trying to do is wrong. He even told me that if I were in his position I would do the same thing. Nope, I take care of my responsibilities and don't ask for help from anyone (except prayers, does that count?)

Thanks for listening. This has really had me wrapped up for a couple weeks now.

So sorry to hear about what is going on with your Gram. It must be very stressful on you and your family. I hope it can all be worked out.

 Lisa,

I'm sorry to hear about the situation with your Gram. :( I would be stressed out too! Sending prayers that everything works out soon.:grouphug:

Any special plans for the weekend?

Lisa, I am so sorry you are going through this, I would be very upset too. Why oh why do people go back on their word and proceed down a path they know is wrong? How can he do this to a woman who is older and been through so much.

Have you talked to a lawyer yet?

Please hang in there and I will definitely say a prayer for the whole family. You are being very strong and a very good and loving advocate for your gram.:thumbsup2

Lisa
How is it going with the house and your Gram?

Hang in there, hopefully there is some type of law that says time is on your side.

Linda

Hi Lisa, hope things are going well and that you are having a nice weekend.:goodvibes

Woohoo!!! Only 3 more days til Disney!:cloud9: I bet you are getting so excited! How's the packing going?

I hope you have a nice evening!

Thank you to all of my wonderful Dis Friends for hanging in there with me. I have really missed my time here.
First I have to say :woohoo: three days to Disney!!!:banana::banana:

Okay, we are still going on the trip and I must say, I have not been doing the planning and preperations that I normally do. I'm trying though.

Update on Gram. I finally got the correct number for Legal Services for Seniors. They are in the process of trying to help her. The neighbor hasn't followed proper eviction procedures plus our state has a 7 year common law. These two things help our case greatly. You would not believe the number of phone calls and emails I have sent. The research I have done. This case doesn't fit into any one catagory so it was hard to find the right people to help her. One she doesn't have anything in writing and two, she doesn't pay rent. We do have one witness who is not a family member who is willing to sign a statement saying she heard him tell Gram she could stay there until she died. I am hopeful that this will be taken care of. I do have a contigency plan if I need it. My oldest DB is letting me handle it, but will come in if I need him. Hopefully I won't.

The first weekend of the month, April and I held a yard sale. We did very well, plus DD had a snack stand. It was very cold for us that morning, 31 degrees at 5:30am when we began setting up. It did get warmer, but the cold hurt us. We are going to have another one in May as we have a lot of summer/spring stuff.
This past weekend was DD's birthday. 8 years old! Where has the time gone? She had a soccer game Saturday morning. Last one.:yay:, then we had the first part of her party. A friend owns a childrens store and she has begun doing spa parties. They had so much fun. They played games (limboa), had facials, manicures and pedicures. A table full of finger foods and punch was also provided. The owner had a professional photographer come as a surprise. She wanted to use DD's party for advertising so I get a CD of the pictures for free. It was a lot of fun and April and I want to have one after the holidays. We told the photographer she could come if she left the camera at home. :lmao:
This week (before vacation) I have to do payroll, host a luncheon at work, see oldest DS for his birthday which is the 21st, take Gram to the airport, get stuff together for DD's Thanksgiving lunch at school and make DD a couple of outfits for the trip. I finally got my sewing machine working again. Think I can do it? Who knows, but I am going to try. I am so looking forward to this trip.

I do apologize for not being on and checking on everyone. I have been so absorbed with everything and having major computer issues at work, so Dis time has been minimal.
I'll post our trip pre-highlights next.

We are leaving Friday evening as soon as DH gets home from work. Unfortunately he is filling in for someone at work this week so he can't leave early. We will be stopping just this side of Tallahasse for the night. We were going to just drive all day Saturday, but I wanted to get going early.
We will be staying at Bay Lake Towers for this trip. I have a friend who is a DVC owner and she is renting us points. Can't wait to be so close to MK.:cloud9:
ADRS we have:
The Wave
California Grill
Chef Mickey
Crystal Palace
Tusker House
Yachtman's Steakhouse
Teppen Edo
Le Cellier

DH and DS will be going on the Steam Train Tour and DH is golfing a couple of times. We will be going to the first viewing of the Candle Light Processional on Friday. One day we will also visit SeaWorld.
Goodness we are going to be busy. :thumbsup2

I am so glad that you found some help for your Gram. I hope that that whole situation can be put to rest. Prehapse the neighbor will come to his senses when he sees you are not backing down.

It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned. We stayed at BLT last year. It was great. The walk to MK is very quick. I wigh you luck on your busy week ahead and can't wait to hear all bout your trip when you get back.

Lisa, I am so happy that you are finding some help for your gram. I can only imagine how much time this has taken up for you. Keep us posted, I am praying it all works out!

I can't believe your trip is so close, how exciting. I will be anxious to hear how you like BLT, this time of year in particular, being close to the MK will be so nice! Who is narrating your Candlelight Processional? We had Kurt Cameron and it was wonderful, truly one of the most beautiful Christmas things we have done. Four years ago and I can still remember it!

Love your ADR's, you are just going to have so much fun and a much needed break from all you have going on!

If anyone can get that to do list done, its you! And if you don't, who cares you are going to WDW!!!!:woohoo:

Happy Birthday to both your kids!

Happy Birthday to your dd and your ds.

Hi Lola and Amy, thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate the prayers for our situation. Yes, I hope he backs down, but you never know. I am just tired of people taking advantage of others.

Today was a good and productive day. Tomorrow will be super busy so I may not get on.

On schedule for Thursday:
Cook food for lunch before heading to work.
Go in late to take DH to work. (Truck is getting new shocks, not the best timing, but new shocks will be nice for the drive.)
Get hams to baking (portable roaster) and set up room.
Finish payroll and one set of travel orders.
Final prep for lunch.
Supervise ham/turkey carvings. (They'll eat it if I don't watch them.)
EAT LUNCH!!!!
Supervise clean up.
Go to bank and postoffice.
Tie up loose ends at office.
Go home to get DD.
Pay for truck on way to get Gram.
Pick up Gram.
Stop for dinner on way to airport.
Deliver Gram to airport (she is going to visit two of my DBs for Thanksgiving)
Stop at Target for a return on way home.

Think I will print this so I don't miss any steps. :lmao:

Just wanted to add that I have been doing okay with food and exercise. I have been doing dance, zumba and walk. April and I did a 5K last week and we did rather well. Just under 14 minute miles. Would have been better but we stopped twice to stretch. April has never done a race before so it was a good experience for her.

Thinking about your Gram and hope it all works out- of course people like this guy will get his in the end, it is called karma!

Hope she has a nice visit.

Good job to you and April for the 5k.

Linda

I agree with Linda, this guy will get his Karma one day, in the meantime, I really hope and pray it works out for your gram (and thereby you).

You have a busy day but I know you will get it done! And your trip is just right here, if I don't "talk" to you before you leave, have fun!!! I am so happy you are going and so wish I was there then so we could have a dis meet!

Safe trip, you have really earned this one!
