Lisa's Journal (Life on the "Beach" - Part 2 all the way to goal!)

February 28, 2004 (Saturday) Day 90 on the Beach

This was a very busy weekend. DH and I were at a function all day today and will be again on Sunday. I bought a new pair of shoes that I don't think I would have been able to squeeze my feet into before losing this weight. That is encouraging. Okay, here's Saturday's menu:

B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: no morning snack
L: chef salad with lf ranch dressing and an orange
S: 7 whole almonds
D: beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice and some of the mock cheese danish for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM body sculpt - upper body work out today. Being at that function for most of the day, I didn't have many opportunities to drink water and even if I did, going to the potty 100+ times a day was not an option so I didn't get much water in. This is a new low for me on the water gauge - a 2.0. It couldn't be helped and I'll do better once the new week starts.

Weight loss: Since this is Sunday when I am typing this, I'll report my weight loss here. I am happy to say that I have lost 3.5 pounds!!! Yea me! That brings my total weight loss to 37.5 pounds in just about 3 months. I just grabbed my 35 pound weight loss clippie and tomorrow I change my 2 month exercise clippie to the 3 month clippie. I really like being able to document my progress by means of this journal and the clippies. Both inspire me to keep going! I am about 1/3 of the way to making my goal of 10 pounds lost for the April 1 challenge.

That's a wrap for Saturday!

Lisa - thanks for stopping by. I know you are busy and I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to stop by any of my WISH buddies' journals but I have been thinking about you all. I know having the support here, whether people have time to post to my journal or not, has really helped me. Take care.

aw yeah lisa, woo woo, look at you go :cool1: . 3.5 pounds this week is so wonderful :bounce: . and 3 months of exercise, that's great too! :Pinkbounc hehe, you love to use clippies, i love to use smilies :p , although, i do love the clippies too. they really are a great way to document your progess! congrats on being able to claim a new weight loss and exersice clippie :teeth:

don't worry about the little water you got to drink the other day. you normally drink so much more that one day of low intake won't kill you. definitely better tahn having to run to the bathroom all day while at the function!

keep up the great work, and i hope you have a great day today :sunny:

February 29, 2004 (Sunday) Day 91 on the Beach

I don't have much time to post this evening but wanted to get my menu down. Here goes:

B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: no snacks today
L: chef salad with lf ranch dressing and an orange
D: went to Hometown Buffet (yuck) with friends and I had 1 piece of baked chicken, 2 small baked fish squares, garden salad with ranch dressing, taco salad and 1 slice of turkey breast with diet cola to drink - no dessert was legal so we stopped at Ruby Tuesday's for lc cheesecake and I'll eat on that for the next couple of days

Exercise/Water Gauge:
No exercise today because I got home late from a function and dinner with friends. The Hometown Buffet wasn't my first choice but we found some acceptable choices. It was nice to focus on being with our friends and not the food. Water was another bad one as we were at the second day of our two day function so I'd give it a 1.50.

That's a wrap for Sunday!

Marcia - thanks for stopping by. Hopefully this will be a better week for me and I'll be able to make the rounds and check on you and all my other WISH buddies progress. Take care!

Hi Lisa! How is it going? I hope you don't mind me popping into your Journal to ask you a question.

Last night I came home and started the Cardio tape that I have. It is 55 minutes long and I couldn't go any further after 33 minutes. I started to get shaky, I'm thinking this is because I hadn't eaten anything in about 5 hours (since lunch). Do you typically eat a protein packed snack before working out?

Also are your tapes 55 minutes long? I'm starting to wonder if this was a mistake because it is really hard for me to find a whole hour in the day - of course I have to be committed to do this.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I went to Hometown Buffet about a month ago and actually found it quite easy to eat stuff on program since they had a nice salad bar. Hope today is great day for ya!

~Amanda

Hi Amanda!

I don't mind you asking me questions at all! :)

I have the 55 minute cardio sculpt too. I do the workout on Mon-Wed-Fri. I had to work myself up to 30-40 minutes. You shouldn't be discouraged in the least. The cardio routine is a hard work out. I have completed it several times and had to ease up because I felt terrible for days afterwards. To me the FIRM vidoes are meant to make you feel tired but energized and if you feel bad after a work out then you may have exerted yourself too much.

Like I said, typically I do 30-40 minutes and find it's just about right for me. Once I hit onederland I intend to step it up and complete the entire video everytime. I do agree with you about the time factor though. I can only devote about 30 minutes to working and have no problem stopping the tape and rewinding it after 30 minutes.

I hope this helps and I hope you grow to love your FIRM work outs as much as I do! I took today as a rest day and I'm fighting with myself because I want to go home tonight and do the body scuplt work out!

If you have any other questions, just ask away! Take care.

Hi Lisa,

I'm sorry I haven't gotten to your journal in a few days. I've been thinking about you.

CONGRATULATIONS on the 3.5 pound loss, and the NEW CLIPPIE!
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

I hope you had a good seminar. Keep up the good work. Boy, that 100 day clippie is so close.

Beth

Lisa I just noticed you are from Cleveland! We have some great friends here in St. Louis from Cleveland and they took us up to Put-n-Bay last 4th of July. Have you ever been there? It isn't far from Toledo (sp?) I think.

Thanks for the encouragement - I really needed it.

By the way your new clipie looks wonderful on you!::yes::

Lisa, congratulations on your beautiful clippie!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

You are doing such a fantastic job. All your clippies are amazing - weight-loss, cheat free, and exercise! That explains the success you're having!

I'm happy to hear all is going well! :sunny:

March 1, 2004 (Monday) Day 92 on the Beach

I took a personal day from work to relax. I ended up running a few errands but otherwise tried to "veg" out at home. It was a thankfully uneventful day and since Big Fat Finance has concluded, I felt lost without my favorite reality show!

Menu:
B: mock french toast with sf syrup and 3 small sausage patties
S: no snacks today
L: 2 cheese hot dogs (no bread) and 3 cups of popcorn with a diet vanilla Pepsi
D: grilled double cheeseburger with lf mayo, lettuce and tomato on ww bread and a diet soda

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM cardio sculpt this morning. I would say water level was a 2.5. We're getting better but still not back to normal levels yet.

That's a wrap for Monday! Can't believe we are into March already!

Beth - thanks for celebrating my loss with me! It's exciting to be so close to losing 40 pounds. I have never had this type of success on any other program before! I'm trying not to think too hard about concluding the 100 day cheat free challenge. Part of me wonders what I'll do then. Probably just start all over again at Day 1, I suppose. :)

Amanda - I am ashamed to say that I have lived in Cleveland just about all my life (I did live in Northridge, CA for a year) and have never been to Put-n-Bay! I've done tons of trips to Cedar Point but never made it to the Bay. We'll have to fix that! I hope the FIRM work outs help you with your weight loss goals like they are helping me!

Doe - thanks to you for stopping by to check on me and cheer me on! I have been so bad lately about getting around to check on everyone but I will do so. It's important to give as well as get support and everyone on WISH has been so wonderfully supportive of me, I have to pay it forward!

lisa, that is great that you took a personal veg day! we all need one of those every now and again, good for the soul :goodvibes

and i know, march already! spring is almost upon us! bring on the warm sunshine and beautiful weather :sunny:

you're doing such a great job, keep it up :)

hope you have a great day :sunny:

I agree with Marcia - veg days are awesome!! I guess it's back to the grind today, though - hope work is quick and painless! :D

Make it a great day, Lisa! :sunny:

March 2, 2004 (Tuesday) Day 93 on the Beach

Back to work for me. Tuesdays usually me and some fellow SBDers have lunch but I couldn't get together with the ladies today. It is nice to have support at work. There must be about 10 people on SBD at my job so there's always someone right around the corner to give you encouragement or the evil eye when necessary. Okay, I'm usually the one giving people the evil eye but they expect that out of me. :)

In finally getting around to reading some of my WISH buddies journals, I read about Amanda starting goals to accomplish for the month and I'm jumping on the bandwagon with my own goals and they are:

1) drink at least 6 mugs of water at work per work day with an additional 1 litre of water at night;
2) work out using FIRM videos 5-6 days per week;
3) stay cheat free for the month of March;
4) reduce desserts and/or treats to once per week only;
5) think and stay positive - even if I have to fake it!

All this will hopefully help me to reach my April 1 challenge goal of losing 10 pounds. I'm already a little over 25% of the way to that goal.

Menu:
B: mock french toast, 2 small sauage patties and 1/2 glass of 1% milk
S: 7 whole almonds
L: leftover beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (peach)
D: 3 buffalo chicken strips and cole slaw with a a mug of no sugar added hot chocolate for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
No exercise today. I took a rest day. Water was at 3.75. I'm getting back up to acceptable levels. With my goals firmly in mind, I should be back on track for the rest of the month.

That's a wrap for Tuesday!

Marcia - thanks for stopping by! I have yet to make it over to your journal but I'm headed there after I make this post. I hope things are going well with you.

Doe - thanks to you too for checking on me. I hope your day goes well too! Take care.

Hi Lisa!
Hope you don't mind me stopping by your journal. I've seen your posts on the FIRM thread and I've seen your journal here too and I thought I would stop in and say hi, neighbor! :wave2: (We live in Northeast Ohio too!)

I really like your goals that you set for March. I think I am going to make goals too once I get a chance to sit down and do it.

By the way, I have lived in NE Ohio my entire life and never once have I been to Put-N-Bay either. I'm too busy saving for WDW!:teeth:

Congrats on the weight loss as well! New clippies are always a good thing! You are well on your way to that April 1st challenge! Keep up the good work! :Pinkbounc

I really love the FIRM workouts too! I have had to pace myself though because if I exercise everyday, I start burning out much faster. It helps me to take a day off because then I anticipate my workout and get excited for it as well. I will be adding another day to my routine though because I really feel I need more cardio. I have been looking everwhere for that new infomercial and can't seem to find it! I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the new system or not. Plus, all of the success stories are inspiring too!::yes::

Well, I hope you have a great day today and tomorrow! Keep up the good work!:Pinkbounc

Hi Lisa!

Thought I'd stop by your journal and give a big thanks for the encouragement you posted on mine.

Goal setting each month is a great idea! I'm going to have to come up with some of my own. My favorite is your 5th goal. Being positive can be a challenge sometimes. I think faking it is the perfect solution! ::yes::

Keep on plugging along! You're making amazing progress...congrats to you!

Hope you have a good day! :wave2:

March 3, 2004 (Wednesday) Day 94 on the Beach

Not too much going on today. Thankfully. I did finalize the plans for my Disney trip in June. I'm taking my 12 year old sister for her first visit. I am so excited. I just need to work on the ps arrangements and towncar and we're all set. I hope she has a good time. Unfortunately, money is very very very tight right now so some of the special extras will fall by the wayside. I will do at least 2 character breakfasts (Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare) and we'll go to MK and Epcot with a possible trip to AK, we'll see. This may be a cheapy trip but I'm going to try to make it as enjoyable for her as I possibly can.

I'm also excited that I was able to get us on an earlier flight. We were scheduled to be on a 5:15 pm flight that wouldn't get in until 7:30. I was pretty bummed out about losing a whole day but I talked to the nicest agent at Continental and she was able to do some magic with her computer and get us on the 12:30 flight which means we'll arrive 5 whole hours earlier! I'm really looking forward to it.

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww cereal with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: 7 whole almonds
L: chef salad with lf ranch dressing and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (strawberry)
D: grilled bacon sirloin burger on ww bread with lettuce, tomato and lf mayo with a Diet Rite (white grape) - no dessert but I drank .5 litre of water instead

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM cardio sculpt this morning for my work out. Water was a 4.0. I'm getting back up there where I should be and trying to focus on the goals I've set forth the month helps too.

That's a wrap for Wednesday!

toystoryduo - so there's another Clevelander who has never been to Put-n-Bay too! I'm glad that I am not the only one! I did respond to you on your journal but I wanted to thank you again for stopping by! Take care and I hope you can make your trip happen.

luvmy2sams - thanks for stopping by to check on me. I am excited about the goal setting. It gives you something to focus on besides the "big picture". I have so far to go weight loss wise that I need other things to focus on. Take care!

Lisa, I'm so excited for you with the trip you have coming up!

It's nice that you have coworkers that are doing SB. It's always encouraging to have someone you can lean on in addition to all the great WISH buds around here.

You're making me think about this whole water situation again. It's hit and miss for me but you're inspiring me to do better. I also need to make a new goal for March which I haven't done yet. I'm stuck at 175. I want that 50 lb. so bad I can almost taste it. Maybe I'll drop once I start the water regiment tomorrow.

Good night!:D

Lisa~
Thanks for stopping by my journal too! Your trip sounds like fun! I hope you have a great time!

It's great that you have a group of people at work who are doing SBD as well. I'm sure that helps out a lot, especially at lunchtime!;)

I was going to try and take a walk with the kids today since it is so warm, but with the gusty winds, we might all blow away....:faint: :faint: :faint: LOL

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

March 4, 2004 (Thursday) Day 95 on the Beach

I just love having goals to work toward this month. I have been keeping each in mind, especially the thinking positive one and am happy to say that I am reaching my goals each day!

I had a friend pay me the nicest compliment this evening. She said that she and her mom had been talking about me and they can really tell I've lost a lot of weight. She also said that they think, when I am done, I will have "da bomb" shape! I thought that was so nice of her to say. I have so far to go but it's nice when people notice your progress and comment on it. I even had a co-worker call me "skinny" today. Of course, I am no where near skinny but the compliments really do spur you on.

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes cereal with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: 7 whole almonds
L: grilled cheeseburger with a diet soda and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit yogurt (peach)
D: mock french toast and 3 small sausage patties and I ended the evening drinking 1 litre of water

I know I didn't eat any veggies today. That's a bad habit I'm trying to break. I'll try to make up for it tomorrow.

Exercise/Water Gauge:
Today I did FIRM body sculpt (upper body) and water was a 6.0. Now that's more like it!

Tha's a wrap for Thursday!

Lisa - thanks for taking the time to stop by my journal. I know your schedule is hectic so I always appreciate it when you do check on me. I am so looking forward to this trip with my sister. I am telling her tonight (Friday) about the trip. I didn't want to say anything until I had the plane tix booked. I made up a special invitation and I'm giving it to her this evening. I hope she will be as excited about the trip as I am!

Tracy - it does help having so many co-workers on SBD with me. It seems like everytime I turn around there is someone reading the book or checking on or giving encouragement to someone else on the program. It's just great. You have a great weekend too and try not to get blown away by all this wind!

Hi, Lisa! :wave2: Just came over to congratulate you on 95 cheat free days! :Pinkbounc

Oh, and I also wanted to say that I think your about the nicest big sis there ever was. I hope you and your sister have the most magical time imaginable. Please let us know how she reacts tonight when she gets the invitation.

Take care--
Erin

hey lisa, sorry i haven't been able to stop by in a while! but here i am now!

i agree with erin, you are definitely the best big sister ever! you and your little sister are going to have such an amazing time on your trip, regardless of the "cutting corners" you feel like you're doing. all of your plans sound absolutely wonderful to me :bounce:

those comments that you're getting are so great! it really is great when other people notice the hard work that you're doing. keep up the great work, and i'm sure you will have "da bomb" body shape!!! :bounce:
