Carol - When I spoke to MS earlier, they did this for me. The woman at MS was very nice and seemed knowledgable of this transaction -- especially in doing everything she could to increase my chances of not having to move.CarolMN said:To guarantee the same room and no "check in and out" process, you need to book the cash stay through MS. Of course, you may be able to get a better rate from CRO. You have to decide for yourself if the rate difference (if any) is worth the risk.
Be sure that CRO notes your DVC confirmation number on the CRO cash reservation and that MS notes the CRO confirmation number on the DVC reservation. A request to stay in the same villa needs to be on both reservations as well. Doesn't hurt to repeat the request at check in.

Doesn't matter if the cash booking is at your home resort or not. If you book your cash ressie through MS, you are treated as a "DVC member" for the whole stay.Ali and boyz said:If you do a cash + points booking at the same time but the cash booking isn't at your home resort are you still treated as a dvc member or does actually matter.

As far as the DVC resort itself is concerned, the only difference in "treatment" between CRO cash guests and DVC members is the housekeeping service. Cash guests receive daily housekeeping while DVC members receive housekeeping according to the DVC schedule (T & T on Day 4if stay is less than 8 nights or full housekeeping on Day 4 if stay is 8 nights or more).
Not really sure I understood what you meant by "treated as a dvc member" though. If my answer doesn't make sense to you, please post again with more info.
