Has anyone had success linking a point reservation with a cash reservation, preferred view and been able to stay in the same villa?

There have been several reports from members who combined points & CRO-booked cash stays that said they did not have to change rooms. They did have to visit the front desk between the stays to check out and back in again, though. (To get new keys). Until the DVC reservation system is updated to be compatible with the CRO/WDWRC system, that's the best you can expect for combined stays.

To guarantee the same room and no "check in and out" process, you need to book the cash stay through MS. Of course, you may be able to get a better rate from CRO. You have to decide for yourself if the rate difference (if any) is worth the risk.

Be sure that CRO notes your DVC confirmation number on the CRO cash reservation and that MS notes the CRO confirmation number on the DVC reservation. A request to stay in the same villa needs to be on both reservations as well. Doesn't hurt to repeat the request at check in.

Best wishes-

Above applies to the PV - Pool/Garden category.

If you have a PV - Boardwalk view, you will almost surely have to change rooms. My understanding is that the Boardwak view rooms are reserved for members paying with points. The Boardwalk views are not even available if you book the cash portion through MS.

Carol - When I spoke to MS earlier, they did this for me. The woman at MS was very nice and seemed knowledgable of this transaction -- especially in doing everything she could to increase my chances of not having to move.

And like you said, I will also ask about it when we check in on the first day.

Thanks for the info!!!

If you do a cash + points booking at the same time but the cash booking isn't at your home resort are you still treated as a dvc member or does actually matter.

Doesn't matter if the cash booking is at your home resort or not. If you book your cash ressie through MS, you are treated as a "DVC member" for the whole stay.

As far as the DVC resort itself is concerned, the only difference in "treatment" between CRO cash guests and DVC members is the housekeeping service. Cash guests receive daily housekeeping while DVC members receive housekeeping according to the DVC schedule (T & T on Day 4if stay is less than 8 nights or full housekeeping on Day 4 if stay is 8 nights or more).

Not really sure I understood what you meant by "treated as a dvc member" though. If my answer doesn't make sense to you, please post again with more info.

sorry my fault. I was wondering if there was different rules for booking i.e. if you were treated as a dvc member can you book 11 or 7 months out and if you were a cash (non dvc member, which I now know I wouldn't be) if there is different time scale of when you can book

I have prob. confused you even more now :)

we are going to our home resort booking on points which I can book next week but want to spend 2 nights at VB (which isn't our home resort) using cash . Guide said I can do the whole booking at once but wasn't 100% sure. :confused3

Yes, you can book the cash stay when you book the points stay - subject to availability. There are no specific booking windows for cash reservations. You can do that anytime. It just depends on availability.

If there aren't any rooms available for cash when you book the points portion of your stay, you can call back periodically to see if that changes. Generally, there seems to be more availability (for cash) closer to the arrival date, but some have reported getting get cash nights (even with the member discount) at 11 months.

Good luck - hope the nights you want are available when you call.

Best wishes-
