I always combine ours by sending an email via the member website contact form.
They make the change and send you back a confirmation.

I did get confirmations...2 of them!....each with it's own number. I will e-mail and ask if they are linked. Thanks.
Also with linked reservations I believe you have to check out and check in again on the day you transition from one reservation to the other, so that's another reason to have them combined rather than linked.
Do not know if that has been fixed at all resorts, but for our last linked reservation at BWV with two different reservation numbers (and actually with two different member numbers), we did not have to make any changes on the turnover day and they told us when we arrived that issue had been fixed in the system.
When you combine your original reservation number will stay the same but the dates will be changed.
When you link, you will see two separate reservations on the website.
With linking you run the risk that something could happen and brake the link.
I like combining.

Well that is good news, esp. if housekeeping now sees it as one continuous reservation. Housekeeping schedule was more of an issue than checking in for a second time.

If reservation was made on one membership they can be merged to one reservation. Link reservations only if the were made from two separate memberships. In either case you should not be needed to change room or do a check/out-check/in on the day of switchover.
I'll have a split stay coming up next year, at two different resorts for 3 nights each.
I have not been to WDW since the advent of FP+, but my sister, who has been there a few times since (and whom we will be meeting up with there for a family reunion) has warned me I am going to be in trouble.
She has her stay (arriving the same night as we are) all at BLT. She said she will be able to book FP+ for all 7 nights when that window opens, but that we would only be able to try for the first 3 days at that date, then the second 3 days later that week when THAT window opens.
She is concerned we won't be able to do the same parks, or rides, the same days since I will have less chance of getting FP+ for the more in demand rides than she will.
Is this true? Is there any way of taking my two reservations at different resorts, with different reservation #s, and linking them as described above to let me book all the days of my trip at the earlier booking date?
Or am I just out of luck.

You are using the wrong word. Linked means two separate reservations with two numbers linked so you don't have to change room in between but you still have to check out and in. You need to ask them to combine the reservations if you want them all under one number.
