I thought the CM told me there would be 1 number. i wanted to extend my VB stay by 1 night, and did it on line....but called to link them. Is it right that the 2 days still have different numbers?

I always ask MS to "combine" my reservations into one with one reservation number. Just FYI to watch your points if you are close to your vacation. I had them to use totally new points one time when they combined two reservations and throw all of the "old" points into holding:confused3

They did fix it, but it took a supervisor!

I always combine ours by sending an email via the member website contact form.

They make the change and send you back a confirmation.

I did get confirmations...2 of them!....each with it's own number. I will e-mail and ask if they are linked. Thanks.

When you combine your original reservation number will stay the same but the dates will be changed.

When you link, you will see two separate reservations on the website.

With linking you run the risk that something could happen and brake the link.

I like combining.

Also with linked reservations I believe you have to check out and check in again on the day you transition from one reservation to the other, so that's another reason to have them combined rather than linked.

Are both reservations made from the same membership? We have 3 memberships and can only link when combining reservations among the 3. But reservations made within the same membership has always been combined to one reservation number.

Do not know if that has been fixed at all resorts, but for our last linked reservation at BWV with two different reservation numbers (and actually with two different member numbers), we did not have to make any changes on the turnover day and they told us when we arrived that issue had been fixed in the system.

Well that is good news, esp. if housekeeping now sees it as one continuous reservation. Housekeeping schedule was more of an issue than checking in for a second time.

I'm so glad you posted this! Every time we link our reservations something gets messed up. I will definitely try combining next time:goodvibes

Thank you all! I sent an e-mail and now have a combined reservation!

I cannot confirm whether housekeeping schedules have been fixed. My linked reservation was for a total of greater than 8 nights and thus I was supposed to get full cleaning on the fourth day and Trash and Towel on the eighth. That did occur but I cannot say housekeeping got it right. I have been going to BWV for many years and housekeeping has virtually always screwed up there. As a result i have taken to calling housekeeping in the morning when I am supposed to have something done to remind them I am supposed to have it, and I did that for the linked reservation trip. Making those calls has mostly solved the historical problems I had with BWV housekeeping never showing up when it should have. Unfortunately it did not completely solve my problems with housekeeping because last trip, on my full cleaning day. Housekeeping came, cleaned and remade one room of the 2BR, half cleaned the living room, did not clean or make up the beds in the second bedroom, and left two large trash bags of trash sitting in the living room. Apparently the housekeeper decided to take a break midway through the cleaning and never came back.

It truly depends on the resort with these issues. Unless it has all improved. Let's hope. :thumbsup2

I had some of these reservations on one trip and two different resorts. BWV was seamless and had zero housekeeping issues. Long stay and nada. Every department saw it clearly as one stay.

At BCV - shorter stay of the trip, I had three instances of door knocking on the same day asking us when are you leaving, it's past check out and this was despite all days showing straight through on the computer and me phoning HK immediately after the first visit/error.

I'll have a split stay coming up next year, at two different resorts for 3 nights each.

I have not been to WDW since the advent of FP+, but my sister, who has been there a few times since (and whom we will be meeting up with there for a family reunion) has warned me I am going to be in trouble.

She has her stay (arriving the same night as we are) all at BLT. She said she will be able to book FP+ for all 7 nights when that window opens, but that we would only be able to try for the first 3 days at that date, then the second 3 days later that week when THAT window opens.

She is concerned we won't be able to do the same parks, or rides, the same days since I will have less chance of getting FP+ for the more in demand rides than she will.

Is this true? Is there any way of taking my two reservations at different resorts, with different reservation #s, and linking them as described above to let me book all the days of my trip at the earlier booking date?

Or am I just out of luck.

If reservation was made on one membership they can be merged to one reservation. Link reservations only if the were made from two separate memberships. In either case you should not be needed to change room or do a check/out-check/in on the day of switchover.

I have learned that especially at Disney, anything other that simple or normal, increases the probability of disappointment.

Linked reservations can become unlinked, waitlists may or may not be successful and we really don't know how they are filled. The front desk changing the reservation can result in point issues, points in holding, borrowed points that should not have been borrowed. Room requests may be honored or you get the extreme opposite and again we don't really know what the process is but it seems to be different at some of the resorts.

We have a split stay coming up in May, as we added a night at ASM to the first night. When I tried to book ADRs, the system opened up a calendar with all the days, but wouldn't let me book past the first night. I called GS and got a CM who said there was nothing she could do. I called back a little later and got a CM who happily made all of the ADRs for me. It seems you just have to keep trying until you get someone who is either willing to help or able to help.

You are using the wrong word. Linked means two separate reservations with two numbers linked so you don't have to change room in between but you still have to check out and in. You need to ask them to combine the reservations if you want them all under one number.

Thank you...I understand that now!

I actually just called yesterday and they combined my two reservations into one while I was on the phone, so one confirmation no. now. I was worried that when I went to book my ADRs at the 180 day mark that I would only be able to book thru the end of the first reservation.

Last time we had two linked reservations (a year ago), Mouskeeping was definitely confused. We should have had a full cleaning - staying 9 nights, and they kept telling us we were checking out the next day even though we had 4 or 5 more to go. They eventually came and did the full cleaning and then came back and tried to do another full cleaning the very next day, and this was in a Grand Villa.
