Line Jumping?

A child hand off (at Dumbo where it's only a 2 person vehicle) is different than me standing in line at Peter Pan only to be shoved aside by a pack of of people (all ages, not just teens) pushing their way thru to the 1 person who got in line to hold a place for like 4-8 other people (taking multiple vehicles).

That is NOT cool.

I've had it happen at several of the rides. Don't send 1 person in the group ahead to "hold" a spot for a pack of people who then come along shoving & pushing their way thru the line (which there isn't much space anyways). Yes it sucks to wait, but get in line together or wait for everybody at the entrance.

I got FP for TSM while my mom waited at the stand-by entrance area. We both went in together. I couldn't believe how many people kept pushing & shoving thru to catch up to a person who was way ahead "holding" a spot. Or the "holder" would call their group when we got close to the front & sure enough they would come pushing their way thru the line. Amazing. :sad2:

That's only true if you assume that every adult were going to ride regardless. I don't think you can assume that.

The child did line jump as they did not start at the back of the line the second time through....whether you can justify or not, they did jump.
Yes, they did "jump", but whether folks want to see it or not, there is a difference. This is not "jumping with intent of delaying another's experience".

If Disney was not going to load the seat next to the second parent anyway, and you're behind the second parent, you have to wait just as long regardless of whether the kid rides again or not. If it WAS Disney's intent to fill every single seat every single time, then yes, it would be "jumping with intent".

:earsboy:

jumping with the intent of delaying another's experience is always wrong. and rude.

in the Chuck Bubba case....no one is delayed...so most agree it is fine.

so why is it any different if Dad slips under the chain on a turn in Dumbo to walk over to PP and get fastpasses (or even if he jogs to SM!) and then comes back and slips under the chain and rejoins his family on the next turn?

no one has been delayed 1 second by him doing this.

listen - I am not trying to be argumentative. I am just trying - for whatever reason - to get people to rethink their views on when it is acceptable for people to save space in a queue so everyone's park experience will be more magical.

Both adults have the right to ride - just like every other guest at the park....so it doesn't matter whether or not they would have done it anyway, or are just doing it to be with their child....

I was disputing your claim that the line doesn't get longer. This has nothing to do with rights to ride or whether it's right or wrong.

So let me say this another way...If a second adult only gets in line to give their child a second ride, then the line gets longer than if that second adult never got in line at all (because they didn't want to ride).

I agree with this. If Mom was going to take Pumpkin, and Dad wasn't going bother to ride by himself, Dad is adding an extra used ride vehicle by saving the spot for Pumpkin. If Dad was going to ride regardless, it doesn't really change anything.

OK...point made. Most parents though, would take 2 Dumbo's anyway...so that Daddy can ride behind and watch his wife and child.

I don't think anyone ever jumps with the intent to delay anothers experience...it is done to enhance their own (or that of their group). Again as to whether someones experience is delayed, please see my pp to LaurenT. I will agree with you in one regard, there is a difference as I believe this is one of the least offensive forms of line jumping. :thumbsup2

Our family always crams into one Dumbo - no wonder we have horrible pictures from it. But, I do hate to see all the other kids excited to ride behind us so have never had the courage to take up two Dumbos when we can fit into one.

People are going to justify what they want. I still feel the best practice is for your family to all enter the line together. I teach my children if they want to ride again, they need to get in the end of the line again in order to make it fair for all.

You are totally fine doing that...especially if you feel you're setting an example for your kids. My DD is too old for this proceedure, but I still don't feel it's a practice that needs to be "justified" for those families that do it in order not to waste an empty seat.

Or sit in front, turn around, and take pictures.

that's what I was saying way back. I have the most hysterical pictures from our last trip of me (over age 40) and my dad (over age 70) in the same dumbo ...that poor dumbo never lifted off the ground much. LOL. I swear they needed a shoe horn to get us in ...

The only reason I ride dumbo (and we don't bubba chuck) is so I can take pictures of my kids and dh riding dumbo. so..because I'm riding and I don't want to, that is now a problem too?? :lmao:

All you people suffering through IASW - you can no longer. You can only ride a ride if you TRULY want to be there, otherwise you're taking up space.

(that was sarcasm...)

AMEN! What really gives little Johnny the right to ride twice in a row with no waiting? What about the other kids waiting for their first ride?
I have always made my DS go to the back of the line if he wants another turn. Just sayin...

Thank You :worship:

I was always told that I had to ride it...my family is so mean!!! Now with your demand, I can no longer ride. WOOHOO  ;)

I think this is acceptable, but only if your kid's name actually IS Bubba. Or Chuck. But not Charles or Charlie--you have to draw the line somewhere. ;)

Same thing can be said for Rider Swaps...Joey gets to ride with his Mom while Dad watches the baby, then Joey gets to ride with Dad while Mom watches the baby....
Either I accept that they have a family make up that allows for this and I don't, or I rent a baby.....

Oh, I agree. I was just proposing a possible argument. The standard "you'll make the line longer" isn't valid (with the caveat that both parents would be riding, if they didn't do the chuck).

On the other side of the coin, smaller families are less likely to have to wait a ride cycle to get seats for everyone (and more likely to get pulled out of a line to fill empty seats). It all evens up (or, even if it doesn't, that's just life).

Yes! I love this approach as well! :thumbsup2

It depends on the ride & how accessbile the line is to the public.

If a person can join in easily (like Dumbo) then not a problem. 1 person was waiting for 1 elephant anyway...but if they let in 5 people that is not right cause they are taking more than 1 elephant.

But sending 1 person ahead say for POTC or TSM (where the line is not easily accessed inside) and then calling/texting the group when you get close to the front so they can push & shove their way thru the line to to meet up...that is not magical.

I'm joining this camp-another kid in line behind Dad is going to probably watch little Johnny ride twice before he/she gets to ride once. If you're two parents with a single kid, you either cram into one car, or someone rides alone, or one parent doesn't ride at all. Be fair and do what brings the greatest amount of good to the most people!
