I know, why actually watch the debate, I can read it all here in the 20 some odd posts we'll probably get about it and every little thing that was said, or ever stupid little look, grimace or smirk that occured
I do hope, for her sake, some of her past behavior was caused by her being unableto be true to herself and admit to being gay. That neing said, in my totally unprofessional opinion, it seems like a trendy fad that she'll outgrow. Oh well. At least it's safer than drugs!
Anne Heche isn't straight according to her own view of her sexuality. As far as I know, she doesn't pick a particular label for herself, but it's pretty clear that she enjoys sex and relationships with both men and women (so bi would probably be the most obvious label if we had to give her one).
I don't really understand how having living with someone and having sex with someone for 3 years can be described as a fad. I mean, it's one thing when gay people are unsure about their sexuality and are in a relationship with someone of the opposite sex (though people usually realize, once they can compare the sex/relationship to one with the same-sex that they were missing something). But Anne Heche was able to make the comparison. I can't imagine that she would have voluntarily had sex with Ellen for 3 years unless she greatly enjoyed it. And if one enjoys having sex with both boys and girls then I don't think one is straight.
I have no idea about the situation of Lindsay Lohan. It could all be a publicity stunt--I really don't follow celebrity gossip much. But, pretty much every bi person I know has had these same kinds of things said to/about them--oh it's just a fad, you're confused, it's a phase, etc. I'm bi, but since the only serious relationship I've been in has been with a woman (for the past 3.5 years), my family tends to think of me as a lesbian. If GF and I were to break up, I might very well end up dating a man. I hope no one would assume that the novelty of dating women just wore off.
