Just came upon this. Google Map and go. tells you the distance you were walking. mine was pretty good (what I thought was a mile was, but my 2 mile route was a smidge short 1.92.

I know, I think probably thursday i will have time to get the scanner out. I am too lazy and its kind of a pain, if you know what i mean.

My shift key is sticking. oh well.

Anyway, I wasnt going to post cuz I'm bummed, but I decided it might be good for me. Blah.

I got a letter in the mail today from Kevs orthodontist. Kevin started there when he was 10 getting an expander. Then he did phase 1 for 2 years. Then they waited for his molars to all come in and put the braces on again for phase 2. He has had these on for 2 1/2 years. In the fall they said he would have them off by christmas. In march they said april. still on, but just one more month, she said in may.

The letter in the mail today said that, unfortunately, they were declaring bankruptcy and we would need to continue our services with another orthodontist. WHAT? We were in there 2 weeks ago! Hes supposed to be getting them off! I have paid in full (months ago). Altogether around 5Gs. I am so upset. Now I will have to take him to a new Dr. and pay again. I cried and cried. I cant ask his dad to pay again ( he paid half) so i will have to miraculously come up with this money. I know I am whining here but i really dont have the cash. I am sure I can get a payment program though. I think this is a trust issue. There is no way they didnt know when I was in there last time. Yet they acted like they were gonna be taking the braces off and fitting a retainer. And when you declare bankruptcy cant you still do your job? Are they saying they have to shut down completely? Maybe they are being evicted, I dont know. I am going there tomorrow and make them give me all the records, financial and medical for him. I didnt save anything, heck i was done, paid off.

I called and left a message at the ortho. They had a very sweet "gee we're sorry we screwed you" message. So I left one in kind.

I got a letter in the mail today from 2 of the techs that worked there. (I guess they are techs, not sure of the terminology) Anyway, they are at a different ortho, and are offering to finish up the work for 1/2 price. So I called and talked to them. It is set up so they are worked on all the old patients. They were very nice so I made an appointment. 75$ visits plus whatever the retainer and moldings and stuff cost. I am thinking around 500$. I asked the woman (I really want to call them girls, but that seems disrespectful) if they knew anything, and that I had been in there 2 weeks ago and they said nothing. She said that they got a call at 9pm memorial day evening that they had no job the next day. Isnt that charming? Way to treat people. I told her I hope they get punished. She said she did too.


Anyway, I called my sis today, but the CPS people were coming today to inspect and she was really nervous. So I said call me back, but she hasnt yet. I don't usually get calls from her this late because of the time difference, and her hubby and kids are home.

Enough of the blaaahs. I went with my buddy ...OMG I guess she's my BFF! I feel so hip saying that! HaHa we've been frinds since age 13. Anyway, we went to dinner and a movie, girls nite out. Ate at Rockies..yum. 1/2 price wine nite! I had the best dinner! It was grilled salmon on whole wheat penne with cream sauce. OK the cream sauce was bad but I didnt eat it all about 1/3, so yummy! We went to see Knocked Up. It was funny, but charming too. I liked it. It was weird tho, cuz I'm a single mom, so a lot of the stuff I actually went though, and the sister in the movie was JUST like my friend! It was kind of freaky, the crazy weird stuff she did is EXACTLY stuff she would do! Anywa, it was fun.


OK after some research, and trepidation, I think I am going to try South Beach. yeah, I know, whatever. I've tried everything else right? Looking at it, the hard part is only 2 weeks, and after that it looks fairly easy. (crossing my fingers) We'll see. I haven't been in the mood lately, but its time to try again.

Ok, hopefully in a little while I will post the "picture" If I can figure out how to work the scanner.

OK that WASNT easy! I finally got it to scan, but it took me forever. It wouldnt work with the regular buttons, just the wizard on my computer. I really wanted to try to figure out a way to lighten the picture up, its very old and hard to see. It was taken in the seventies and the original was taken with some sort of filter and is a weird red color. (my dad used to mess around with those back then) Anyway, i tried it in a grayscale and this is it.

Anyway , thats me on the left (looking at it) then my BFF, who is blonde , (cant tell in that pic) and my cousin (the one who grew up with me , and I consider a sis) Anyway, can you tell how far out my hair is or is it too dark? The scanner is making the pic darker for some reason, with the reddish filter it looks too dark too. I tried black and white and it was completely black!

Dig those dresses man. We were on our way to the theater to see The Wiz, bet you guys have no idea what that even is!!!

Oh my freakin g... I just noticed that necklace! It was 2 gold hearts engraved....My boyfriend dan gave it to me when I was 17! My first real boyfriend gift! I kept it for a really long time in a little velvet pouch with a charm necklace he gave me, and my sorority pin. It 'disappearred' when I was living with my ex.

First of all, sorry to hear about the ortho....that sucks...but I'm glad that the new place is working with you on all of it!
Second - LOVE THE HAIR!!! Not as Farrah as I would have thought....but it's definately a 70's do!!
Love the dresses....I actually think they are coming back in style....ok...maybe not....

actually, you and you're friends are all very stylish and attractrive...it was the 70's....you could have been an 80's kid like me....big hair & blue eyeshadow.....

Marie , in the eighties I was in college. I had one of those rosanna-rosanna-danna dos that stuck out on the side. Then I had this very sleek and chic retro 60s do that was short on one side and longer on the other (loved that one). Oh and lets not forget the poodle perm thing...you know...the one to where you wore the headband cord thing around your head, that was so cool.

Anyway, I have just about forgotten the whole ortho ordeal. Seems like it was mostly just me whining. It will be fine.

I am going on a mini vacation tomorrow. Taking Kev golfing at fairfield glades in tenn. just the 2 of us. It will be fun.


OK wish me luck. I am gonna call my sis and she whats up. She left (her home) last night with her daughter a stayed in a hotel. I believe I may just tell her to get in her car and drive east.
She can live here, my house is plenty big enough.

I talked to my sis. She is still not back home. her hubby is a moron. seriously. Heres what happened last friday. She picked the kids up at school. The 15 yr old refused to get in the car. He started screaming and hitting her. So she left him there. She called him on the cell phone and told him to start walking. When she got home, she told her hubby not to pick him up, he had to walk. Eventually, the kid called screaming at his dad to pick him up. This is what he said "I would, but your mom wont let me" nice huh. This is a teen who has been violent and attacked my sis. So she packed up and took the 9 yr old, and isnt coming back until someone gets a clue. They did go to counseling. The kid stole money from her purse for drugs. hubby says.....seriously......"put your purse somewhere where he cant get it". What a nitemare. And that isnt the kid thats in trouble the 16 yr old is the one in trouble. My dad is looking at a rehab facility for the 15 yr old here in ky. I still dont know what the 16 yr old did. She does think the 9 yr old will be able to come here tho , at least for the summer. It depends on how fast they can get the paperwork going on it .

I will never ever be a horrible shrewish mom to kevin again.


Moving on. I went grocery shopping for south beach diet food. Lots of chicken breasts. The first 2 weeks is basically low fat protein, plus vegetables. No milk or fruit to start. It does let me have cottage cheese tho, so I will get calcium. Eggs, low fat cheese, chicken, frozen veggies. And the all-important sugar free FUDGESICLE. Yep its on the list.


So tomorrow is the d-day. I think I will change my title. Why not?

I am not sure what kind of time frame I am looking at. I need to do a little research to determine that. i am gonna start by exercising tonite. i will do 30 minutes on the stairmachine. I was going to get rid of it but I changed my mind. its easy to start out on that, I dont know why. It raises my heart rate enough to start.

Just posting a weird moment in my life (again). My ex-bf just called. I havent talked to him in a while. i havent answered his calls lately, either because I was at work or just busy. I figured he would get the flick. Anyway. He called and I was home so I answered. He was calling from panama city (Amber maybe you saw him ). He was there with friends, drinking and hanging out on the beach. OK whatever, thats nice. Talked for awhile about nothing really. Then he mentions he has a new gf who is moving in with him. Ok. (Why are you calling me???) i tell him thats nice. where did he meet her? whats she do? etc. normal stuff. He met her in a chat room, and she is moving from peoria.

Ok, not that theres anything wrong with that but why call me? Do you think he was trying to make me feel jealous or something? He made it a point to ask if I was dating anyone. I told him no, he cured me of that.

Isnt that strange and juvenile?

Linda....be glad he's your EX-bf!! What a jerk!! I'd try to find the new gf's phone number and call her and ask her to please have him stop calling you...you're no longer interested in him...you know...turn the tables a little bit!! Make her aware of what a twit he is!!

Oh, your sister is wise to remove herself from the house w/ the 9 yr old. You are in my prayers for everything going on with that! Hang in there!! You are a wonderful mother and kevin knows that...so does your sis, that's why she's trusting her 9 yr old to you!!

I'm sorry to hear that things are still crazy w/ your sister's family. Hopefully they will be able to straighten some things out soon. And that the paperwork will be done quickly so that your niece can come stay with you. It sounds like it would be good for her to get away from it for awhile. I hope that things are able to be worked out for the two older kids too. The teen years are difficult... I am not looking forward to those years when I have kids

I am going to be getting back on track too. And I see that Marie is also. I think it is funny how we all kind of fall off and get back on in the same timeframes. SO, we all have to do really well because we are all in some weird syncronicity (sp?)!

Let me know how you like the South Beach thing. I have not really looked at it, but it sounds fairly healthy. I have been debating really hard about whether I will continue to do "my own thing" & just get strict w/ it or if I will try to do some plan. I like to think I can do it on my own, but you see how well that's been working for me lately.

K, enough about me. How was your first day on SB? I like your goals, they are good things to shoot for. Did you measure yourself to get a baseline? I would measure other areas too. Even if your goal is primarily the waist measurement, it is fun to see the others go down also

Day one on south beach. i did well. It wasnt really very hard. I had 2 eggs and a V8 for breakfast. lunch was smoked turkey with fat free cheese. Then i had veggies for a snack, a low fat cheese for another snack, chicken breast for dinner w/veggies. I am gonna have ny fudgesicle in a few minutes.

This is pretty easy amber. It works well for me. On atkins you didnt get to eat all the veggies at first, just a small green salad. I would rather have the veggies as a snack than be struggling to find something w/out carbs. this is a website that has the phase one and phase two info. http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/shoppinglist_p1.htm

i havent gotten my measurements yet, i cant seem to find a tape measure, so I guess I will have to go to walmart and get one. I might measure other areas too, but the waist one is what they base your health on, so thats the one I want to work on.

Anyway, I cant see anything UN-healthy about this one. Its low fat and low carb, and eventually you add in fruits and grains. So I will give it a shot.

The ex-bf thing just kind of weirded me out a little. I truly dont care what he does (thats why I stopped seeing him duh) I just didnt know why he felt the need to call and tell me that.

Now I need to figure out what I'm gonna get my dad for fathers day. I have to work tomorrow so I have a reprieve for a couple of days to figure it out.

I am doing okay on south beach. Havent lost any weight yet (I peeked) but I do feel better already. Struggling a bit tho, cuz I want to snack. This may be tmi but I have had a little problem for the last couple of weeks. First time for me (other than pregnancy) my feet are swollen, and my ankles. Very much, not just a little. I know i am supposed to put them up for a while every day and I havent been, but it really is freaking me out a bit. I expected it to go away when I started the diet, but it hasnt yet. Kev has been making fun of me about it, (mom you have cankles! ) Not something I wanted to hear.

Also Kev was playing football and chipped a bone in his finger. Swelled up huge. i took him to urgent care and they x-rayed it and they want him to see an orthopedist. I think normally its no big deal but when we told the dr he was a drummer he thought it might heal too stiff and would cause problems. So yet another drs appt to try and fit in. oh well.

I missed a couple of days on here because my computer is on the cusp of suicide I think. Its a laptop and the mouse thing decided to completely quit. The hardware says it doesnt exist anymore. So I had to go get a usb mouse to attach and use that, but its wierd to do that with a laptop. So I'm kind of shopping a new one, but its really too expensive for right now. But of course I dont want to wait for complete annihilation.

I think I'll have my fudgesicle now (i cant have rum and coke on south beach)
