Lindas Journal - 2-29-2008.. BEWARE EDIETS!!

Just a quick check in. Lost another pound so thats 5 lbs the first week. I know I know , you'll say its just water but :p on you if you do! 5 lbs is 5 lbs!

I walked 2 miles today. A little over , actually but not quite 1/2 so I wont count it.

food was almost the same as yesterday, except I had a couple of ounces of cheese, so I ended up with more cals, 1472, but still not many carbs. So I'll call it okay but not great.

I think I will be spending a lot of the day outside tomorrow, since Kev and another drummer will be practicing for a show tomorrow. 2 drums sets going. :headache:

Sounds like you're doing great! :cool1: And 5 pounds is Great! Water weight or not, it has to come off so that the other weight can, too, right? :cool1: :woohoo: (Just don't do like me and put 1 of them right back on :sad2: )

You are doing great on your walking! Keep up the good work! Are you setting another mileage goal for May?

Thunder sounded good, but then when I looked at the pics and saw the video, I wanna know when and where, cause I wanna go! That looked pretty awesome and the one thing said the fireworks last 30 minutes :woohoo: I Love fireworks! One of the things I read says it is the kick off for Kentucky Derby events... are there other cool activities in the area? That could be a cool driving vacation. Dh & I have been trying to come up w/ some more localized vacations that we can drive to w/out spending as much money. Then we can see more of America which would be cool! We usually either go to Florida, or fly off somewhere (which gets expensive).

Well, have a great week! Keep up the good work!!

5 pounds!!!!

GREAT JOB!! KEEP IT UP WOMAN!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi all.

Yes Amber the fireworks last just about 30 minutes. It is truly amazing. They always do a fake finale after about 22 minutes and fake out about 1/3 of the people, then have this humongous 6 or 7 minute finale. And yes it is the kisckoff for the Derby. It is usually 2 weeks before the actual derby (next year 3 tho, because of Passover). Most of the Derby events dont start until the thursday before derby. Thats when Fest-a -Ville starts, with the chow wagon down on the river. Then friday is the balloon glow, and saturday is the balloon race and the marathon, Monday is bed races, tuesday is the run for the rose' wednesday is the great steamboat race (a hoot because its fixed ) thursday is the pagasus parade, friday is Oaks day and saturday derby. We call Thunder Louisvilles party, with the derby for the tourists.

I used to go to the derby every year and stay in the infield (wild crowd), I even went once when kevin was little, but I'm too old now! You, amber, are the perfect age for it tho! What derby means to me now is airplanes....thousands of airplanes come in just for the derby. YUCK. And this year is the addition of the Queen of England, and the security that goes with her with mess everything up BAD.

And, as far as food goes, I didnt log it today. I think it was okay tho, eggs, salad, chicken, slimfast, fudgsicle. Low carb for sure. I walked 1.5 miles, so I made my mileage goal.

I am going to do a mileage challenge for May too, 25 miles I think. I pick 25 because this week I will be tired from derby traffic at work and I only have 1 day off, so I think 25 is as much as I can do.

I have a quick-turn tonite so I'm just checking in. I had an ok day, nothing special. I had cheese omelette, a hot dog, salad w/egg, chicken pesto, slimfast, and fudgsicle. 1327 cals. No exercise.

bed races were today. I really dont like them anymore. they used to have actual beds and they raced up and down 1st street. That was fun and silly. Now they do it inside, in some sort of race-beds things and its all corporatized. Companies have teams, and like Ford or UPS will win. They are SERIOUS about it. Freakin training for the bed races.

The run for the Rose' is tomorrow. That waiters and waitresses racing thru a course with a tray full of wine. Its pretty fun.

Yummy arent they! Keep me sane anyway.

No logging anything today, but it wasnt bad. TIRED . Its DERBY and that means my life is not my own until sunday nite. UGH!

I did walk 2 miles tho.

:hippie:

Sorry Derby's got you outta whack. Hang in there! Sunday's not too far away.

Good job getting the 2 miles in even w/ all that is going on! :cheer2:

All those Derby/ festival events sound fun. I would probably like being in the infield but I'm not sure... I've seen something about that on TV once and they seemed a bit wild even for me :rotfl: But it would probably be fun. We usually have a bed race at the Cherry Blossom Festival here in Macon every year. I haven't gotten out to in in several years though. It was always fun. I did learn that it can be quite frightening for a small child though :confused3 I guess beds flying down the road would be a bit scary

Well, have a good week!

Derby's done.....where are ya?
Hope everything is ok....check in....starting to worry!!

I didnt realize I hadnt posted in a while. I got thru derby ok, but it made me so tired, it really lasted all week.

I won BTW, accidentally. My horse did anyway. Well, not my horse actually, but the one my money accidentally ended up on. I had a friend who was going to the track place a 20$ bet for me. We had been casually talking about street sense, but he told me he was gonna be the favorite, and I dont like betting favorites. So I told him I would check around and call and tell him who to put my money on. I did, called and left a message, put it on Hard Spun (odds were 15-1 at that time). He got the message, but when he went to put on the bet, he blanked out on it, couldnt decide, and put it on street sense. So we split it. Didnt win much, but hey, it was karmically wonderful. I mean really....my horse came in 2nd, but I still cashed a ticket.

Anyway, I have been working hard at home, my friend at work is covering for me next saturday so that I can do our neighborhood yard sale. So I have been gathering stuff up and carting it downstairs. At least that is exercise. Doesnt leave much time for dis-ing tho! I have tons of crap. Kev has a 27 ft long closet full of toys. He is helping and gets to keep the $ for that stuff. I just want it to be gone.

Cuz I went and looked at the models for the river park condos!!!!!!!       http://www.riverparkplace.net/ I want want want one! I am so psyched! I was very worried cuz they are small, but they are awesome! I can totally live in them. Now I seriously have to figure out how to make sure I can afford one. There is one that is fine almost 900 sq feet, 2 bedrooms, cool sliding industrail door that separates one bedroom, so that later, when kev is all gone ...out of college etc, I can slide the wall back and make the living room bigger and just use 1 bedroom. there are floor to ceiling windows and they are just so cool. They sit right on the river in waterfront park, which has bike and walking paths and is beautiful. they also have a fitness center, pool restaurants and stores right in the building. I could WALK to the baseball field, to the brand new basketball arena, even to the theatre if I wanted. That one is 232000. For downtown, on the river, thats great. Add all the other stuff and its awesome. And I was worried that they will all be sold before I can get one, but the models showed a phase 2 expansion also, so I dont have to worry about it.

So anyway, the stress of derby ...and also the fact that this woman at work made lasagna......and i mean....seriously...the best lasagna ever.....we all walked in and said...OMG did susan make lasagna:banana: . So the diet went to heck for a few days. I seriously ate it on sunday on EVERY BREAK. I took abreak.....saw lasagna....ate some. couldnt help it. I think she puts crack in it. I didnt gain any weight tho ( must be crack then right?)

But as far a exercise, I have just been going up and down stairs carrying crap for 4 days, thats all.

I will try to do better on the journal

:hippie:

where ya at woman??? :confused3
take a break and check in!!

Hey, Linda!

I looked up those condos. They look REALLY nice!!! I don't think I would survive 900 square feet though :scared: I have always had WAY too much junk! I hope you are able to get one! It would be pretty awesome to be that close to the water and the fitness center! Then all the food and shopping right there! It is it's own "hive"! That is what DH used to call Alpharetta where we used to live... everything is right there so you never have to leave.

Hope the yard sale goes well!! :wizard: I talked with a friend about doing one this year, but I think I need to back out cause we just don't have enough bigger items. We have lots of little pieces of junk, but nothing that would fetch more than a dollar or two. We aren't finished going through stuff yet though...

Hope the diet and exercise are getting back on course! :wizard: I think we all go through the rough weeks at the same time! The most important thing is that we all get back on track also! So, come on let's do this thing! :cool1: :yay:

Let us know how you been! :hippie:

Crap, I just did this really long post and it poofed. drat.

I know I couldnt live in a small condo with a family either Amber, but I know I can with just me. I really love them, and seeing the model made me sure I could do it.

anyway...yard sale sucked but the stuff is gone.

Go see Spamalot. Dont argue, just do it. Most fun Ive ever had at a show, even better than Momma Mia.

Nite. I really did have a long post. but I'm too tired to do it again!

:hippie:

PS. I was looking thru piles of crap and found an ancient pic of me from the 70s. Massive farrah hair. Freaking hilarious. I will see if I can scan it, its a hoot.

I have the cure for the long post POOFS.... When you finish typing it and before you hit send. Copy the contents of your post. Then hit send. Then if it disappears you just do a new reply and paste it there. If it does send ok then you don't have to do anything. I do this before I hit send on EVERY message now. I Hate losing my posts! HOpe that helps.

DH would love to see Spamalot... I was gonna get tickets and take him when it was in Atlanta, but I think I forgot and it has already come and gone :headache: Oops. I really wanted to go.

Can't wait to see your picture!! Bet it's pretty cool!

Don't be a stranger :hippie:

Can't wait to see the pic....do the rest of the Angels know you have it?
Might want to check with Charlie first!! :lmao:

ok...sorry, it's been a long day!

OK OK OK. I am just lazy. I have had the WORST allergies ever. In the history of mankind. I had to take 1 1/2 days off work, which really torques me off. I mean its just allergies for heavens sake. But I felt like I was stroking out on tuesday. Water running out of my eyes. Yuck! Anyway , nothing was working at all. So on wednesday I took chlortrimeton. Or something like that. That stuff works! However, it conks you out bad. It was funny really. I would be . like....hey I'm fine...its a miracle....then 2 hours later....dead asleep! But it worked well enough that I was back at work today (I couldnt take it of course, but I feel a lot better)

Anyway, Im just catching up. I havent had time to scan my charleys angel picture yet either, but I promise I will get to it soon!

nite

:hippie:

Okay, my life has gotten strange. My sis is having mondo problems with her family. She has 3 kids. 16, almost 15 and 9. The oldest has always had problems. i am ashamed to say i dont like him much. Its true, i really cant help it. The almost 15 yr old has been having problems too. My family (extended) has decided it would be a good idea for me to take him (15 yr old) for awhile. We thought it might be good for him to be in a different environment. And my son would be a better influence (than his brother).

I know I use () too much.

My sis said no, that wouldnt work cuz the 15 yr old has too many issues. (violence against her, drug use) and that wouldnt be fair to me. I guess shes probably right. So we asked if we could take the youngest (9 yr old girl with NO issues) for the summer. It looks like that will probably happen. If CPS says its ok. Yes, thats what I said. They have to do what they say. i dont know whats going on exactly, but the oldest son has a lawyer, my sis has a lawyer and the 9 yr old has a lawyer. :confused3 This scares me a lot. Apparently, the 16 yr old did something, and may be charged/sued??? She isnt saying. She made it sound like she isnt allowed to say. Maybe because hes a minor? I dont know exactly. I asked if he did something to the 9 yr old. not exactly. or maybe not directly. Apparently tho he did something that would cause CPS to think that the 9 yr old may need to be removed and put it a foster home. holy crap. :sad1:

My sis is falling apart. No thats not true, she is fighting to hold it together, because she has to. Her husband is no help, more a hindrance. He thinks its overblown and "no big deal". She is afraid his attitude will hurt them at the hearing. The 15 yr old is very effected by the stuff the 16 yr old did, very emotional, enraged. Hard to handle and keeps disappearring. This doesnt help of course. She was told to make sure the house was clean, etc for a surprise visit from CpS at any time. Her house is fine, thats not an issue, but disconcerting to say the least. they are in family counseling, and are using techniques they tell them too, but she says it hasnt worked yet (still early). She thinks it would probably be best for the 9 yr old to come here, but wants to make sure that wouldnt cause her emotional distress (mom sending her way) I said if she just talked to her about a trip to visit and if she thinks it would be fun, that would be enough. If she is torn, maybe not . She has been here before. I should say my sis is 2000 miles away, so it is a big trip for a 9 yr old.

So i am worried. To say the least. And i am thankful. For kevin.

I havent been posting much, I think because it feels surreal to me. I will try to do it more. I kind of feel like i'm in a different place right now. I'm sure its temporary.

Am I debbie downer or what?

I think I am a control freak and i feel like I need to fix this, and i have no idea how to right now. I better stop now, this is becoming some kind of stream of consciousness ramble.
