Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Hi, Linda. Thanks so much for your support on my journal - I really appreciate it!

I am SO IMPRESSED with your exercise - you do LONG runs and other cardio besides. What an inspiration! I hope the weather has been better for you lately - I know that's hard to keep going with the cold/snow/wind battering you, but you still keep doing it!

Hope you have a good one!

Susan

Thanks all of you!

Today it was actually 52 and sunny, NO WIND!!!!!!!!!!! I ran my 6 mile loop in 59:31, a 9:55 pace.I was happy with that since I have not run since last Sunday I think it was.

Took a walk yesterday to move some muscles around since they are asleep these days.

I have not been very good with keeping up with everyone, maybe that is what I need.

Reporting from the NEW windy city-Westfield!
I ran my 6 miles swearing the entire time.I did it in 1:02:47,a 10:27 pace I think it said.I wanted to quit so many times so I guess the positive is that I kept going and at least finished.

Hope everyone is doing well,
Linda

Way to go Linda!!

The worst condition to run in is definitely the wind! Kudos to you for completing your 6 miler anyway....you can't worry about pace when you are battling the elements like that.

I'd say it's time for you to have some nice running weather...you've been through a mess this winter...I'll try to extend some of this warmer spring weather up your way :goodvibes:

Way to go Linda!!! Great job pushing through that workout. I have so many when I just want to quit, but when you keep pushing...I think those are the ones that give you the most satisfaction. You did it!!! :thumbsup2

Yay for pretty weather! It's about time! Spring is on it's way!!!

Hi Linda...

Great job on your two 6 Mile runs....the first one was really fast for a long run. WTG! :thumbsup2 The second one...in the wind...was awesome despite the tough conditions. Nothing to be ashamed of there....the tough runs build character!!! :goodvibes Keep up the awesome work!!!

Yesterday I did the treadmill for 30 minutes, ran at a variety of speeds to keep it interesting. Then I went right onto the elliptical for 30 mins.I felt like I had a good workout, feel good this am and hoping to get outside after work today.

Have a great one everyone and thanks for the support,
Linda

I cannot believe the lack of motivation I am having these last two months.Spring is here but the sun is not.

I feel like I never ran a day in my life-so out of shape.

I hope it comes back soon, lazy mode is not good for me.

Hope everyone else is continuing to do well,
Linda

Linda...

sorry your motivation has been lacking :(. I've battled with not wanting to exercise myself lately. It's definitely due to this ridiculous weather we've been having in the north east (and elsewhere for that matter). Hopefully with the warmer spring temps you'll be reinvigorated to get outside. I'm sure you will. Hang in there!

Hi, Linda. Don't worry, you'll get back out there - you can't just sit in one spot, it's not in you! The weather WILL get better and that will help tremendously, I'm sure. In the meantime, give yourself a break - you deserve it!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Susan

Ok Linda...GET YOUR BUTT OUT THERE AND RUN!!!

(sorry..taking the tough love approach...don't take it the wrong way!!)

Seriously, I hope the weather turns for the best and you're able to return to your speedy runs soon!!

Hi everyone,
I made it out there today and managed 9.5 miles-by mistake I eliminated 1/2 mile loop.I did it in 1:40:45, a 10:36 pace. I'll take it for now.

Temps are better but the rotten wind remains steady.

Have to go for groceries today and get back on track, need good food in the house.

Does anyone use any of the myoplex products for post workout? I need something more than I have I think.Do they work?

Have a great day
Linda

Linda...you absolutely amaze me!!!! You just pop out there and go 10 miles like it's nothing. You are a natural runner girl...I'm so impressed (and jealous LOL). I couldn't even do 8 last weekend with my body rebelling! You'll be back to your old running self in no time...once that weather warms up you'll be cranking out runs left and right AND probably running faster than ever. Hang in there...spring is on it's way :sunny:

I am hoping to do a 1/2 this weekend here in town but last night after work, which is never a good idea,I had to quit at 2.5,I just could not do it.

Is there a thing as being a "morning" runner? I have not actually signed up yet, waiting for weather changes. It is only $30 so I will wait.

The route is actually really nice, first 4 miles are hilly though.

I really need to do this or I feel like I will quit.I only have this week to get it in gear, there was no training on my part for this but I feel like I should "JUST DO IT"

Hope everyone is well,
Linda

Hi Linda,

I think you should go for the 1/2. That way, you get your first race under your belt. You ran 10 miles without issue, you can handle the 1/2. You will have fun, and it will help get your motivation back.

Hope the weather cooperates!

Keep us posted,
Beth

Hi everyone, thanks for the encouragement, it has been a rough winter!

This morning I went out to do my 6 mile loop but while I was out there I started thinking about what mindset I need to be in from now on if I want to race.

I decided to go for my 10 mile loop instead. No wind so I was doing great,my pace was good and I was feeling good- you will not believe this but it started to SLEET!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I was glad it was not rain and it felt pretty good.

My pace was my best I think for my 10 miles,1:41:35, a 10:09 pace- WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

It helps to come on here in the am and get motivated- I am a MORNING runner I think.

Linda

Hi Linda!

I am amazed at your ability to push those runs to 10 miles consistently, and you do them at an awesome pace!! Do you have a set plan in place for building up a base during the course of the spring & summer?

Please be careful if you decide to do that half this weekend. It may seem strange, but the races are an entirely different experience. You don't want to end up hurt. Pacing is key as you'll feel like you need to start off quicker (because those around you will be thinking the same thing) and that can lead to burnout before you get to the finish (just ask me about my race yesterday :rotfl: )

I KNOW you can do awesome though if you do decide to sign up and we'll be rooting you on for sure!

Hey there Linda...

OK...just gotta do this guy ---> :worship:

I wish I could say after all these years of running that I could just go out and run a 10 Miler on a whim LOL. But to this day...after running Goofy and all sorts of races....I still can't do that. I'm amazed at your ability to run long distance like that...I think you're going to crush the marathon in January!

Good luck in your half this weekend. I bet you finish at a great pace! Just be careful not to get hurt....and be careful what you eat/drink.

Way to go Linda! You are doing great! :thumbsup2 Great pace there!!!

You can totally rock that 1/2 Marathon!
