Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Well I did it and I still can't believe it!!!!!!

I just ran a 1/2 marathon this am :) The weather is cold and windy- of course. I finished in 2:23:35, a 10:57 pace, I had hoped to be between 10 and 11 min miles so I will take it for my first race ever, not the first to finish but not the last either. They will post it online soon.

I am so psyched, I knew if I did not do it I would have been so disappointed in myself after all the hard work this winter.

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

YOU GO GIRL!

That is fantastic! You trained hard and you deserve that great finish! And I will attest to cold and windy, I just spent an hour at the park with the kids and they are like icicles. Mother Nature just won't seem to let Spring truly arrive around these parts!

That is great Linda, you rock!:thumbsup2

Allyson :)

WOAH LINDA! GREAT JOB WITH THE HALF!!! :cool1: You did awesome and had a killer pace ESPECIALLY considering you didn't officially train for it ;). The marathon is no match for you woman! How are you feeling now that the half is over? ANy soreness? Did you end up using a running pack on the course? Just wondering how it all worked out for you. Again...congrats!!!

I was starting to feel a little funked about my time but I guess I am just happy to have done it now.Part of me wants to go back and do the route on my own now that I know what to expect and beat my time.

Hope to run 3 miles today to go for speed.Trying to compete at work ;)

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

Wow Linda! You go!! Congrats on your first 1/2!! I don't know if i will ever be able to do that -- but you are definately an inspiration!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

COngratulations Linda!

You did a fantastic job, and you should be very proud of yourself. Your pace was great. You willrock the marathon.

Have a good weekend,
Beth

Started out for my 6 mile run and quit at 2.5, I just did not have it in me today.Last week 13.1 today not even 3, what the heck?I need to be more consistant,I know that won't happen until the weather is better everyday.I have had enough with 5 months of wind here!

Hope everyone else continues to persevere!
Linda

Linda, i totally understand.. Sometimes it's just not "there". But, i also know the weather has alot to do with it, as i am longing for some constant nice weather too..
Hope it works better for ya next time!!

Hi Linda,

You just ran a 1/2 marathon. Your body probably needs some time to recover. I think that your next run will be a nonissue.

Take care,
Beth

What a day out there- this is my kind of weather!!!!!!!!!

I ran 6 miles in 1:00:27, a 10:04 pace, I think my 2nd best for this distance.

After that it was too nice to quit so I went on an all out 10 mile bike ride- FEELING GOOD!

We leave for Florida on Sunday so I hope to run there too.We will be on Sand Key and they have Gulf Blvd. that seems to run the length of the island on the waters edge.We will be visiting Mickey while we are down there.

Tomorrow before a meeting at work I hope to at least get in 5K.

Have a great one everyone,
Linda

Sorry Linda..I'm a little late to the party. CONGRATS on your 1/2 Marathon!!! Way to go!!! :cheer2:

I hope you have a great time in FL!!! Sounds lovely! :lovestruc

Stacie

Nice pace today Linda!!! Great job...and YES..this weather is (as we say here in NJ)....GAWJUS! OK..I don't say it like that...but people do ;). :sunny:

Nice out again- :)

I just came in from 3.1 miles in 29:20. A 9:27 pace my best yet!

Hope everyone is doing well,
Linda

Hi everyone,
Just back last night from a wonderful trip to Clearwater/Sand Key Fl.All I can say is BEAUTIFUL! We were going to CA. for school break but switched and am I glad we did.Everywhere you looked was blue/green water. The first day like typical northerners we fried.I had mapped out a 5 mile running loop but could not do it I was so burned.

Well we also went to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and DTD.Most waits were 60-70 mins and standing room only on Main St., It was nice to be there to see the sites and take pictures so that is what we did.Never again there on school vacation.

Well back to reality, need to shop for good food, I gained about 7 lbs in a little over a week- time to get crackin'.Buffet bkfst everyday is not good.

I hear it was hot here so at least it is nice now.

Everyone have a great day,
Linda

OK starting today I am starting over, well not completely because in August I did not have a 1/2 under my belt.

I need to be accountable here everyday for what I am doing because I am not in a good place as far as food and exercise go.

I read in Runner's World(on the plane) that it takes 9 runs to feel like it is a natural flow, pace and breathing become habit.

Today I weigh 164.My goal is to lose 20 lbs by July 4th.I need to get moving!!!!!!!!

Everyone's support here really makes a difference-keep posting please ;) Oh and I miss SCOTT and his words of wisdom, they always help out there on the long and quiet road!

Have a great day everyone,
Linda

Glad you had a good trip. Sounds beautiful!

You can do it Linda!!! :thumbsup2

Stacie

Hi Linda...

9 runs for it to feel natural? Hmmm...I've got 900 under my belt and it still feels tough :confused3 . Just kidding...9 runs makes sense...that's about 3 weeks of running/training..just like other things...21 days for it to become natural (or a habit). I am absolutely certain that you will find your groove now that the weather is nicer and the warmer temps are coming. You've got so much time to prep for the marathon...I know you'll have a fabulous race next January! :thumbsup2

Amy and Stacie- THANKS you guys!

Yesterday I did the elliptical x 30mins,2.08 miles and 281 cals.It was pouring when I had time to do something so XT it was. Also did abs, that felt good after not doing them for so long.Need to compete against myself each time so want to keep track.

Off to work now,I'll see what this evening brings, depends on the level of exhaustion.A nurse's job is physical all day long.

Linda

Nothing last night, fell asleep on the couch watching AI.

This morning I ran 6 miles in 1:00:49, a 10:08 pace. Then I went on my bike and did the same route at a mod. pace.It feels good to be moving again. Now off to do abs.

Good Luck everyone doing the MINNIE!

Linda
