Limited Edition Pins Missing First Number

I have a few pins that have a Limited Edition stamp on the back, but the pin number of the series is missing. For example, the back is stamped Limited Edition / 5000. I would think that the stamp should look like 1234 / 5000 instead of a blank. Is this the sign of a fake / boot-leg pin?

I know that some pins are just stamped Limited Edition 3000, 2500, etc. but this stamp is clearly missing the first number.

Any ideas?

I have one Disney pin that has 0000/2500 on it. but it also has "AP" stamped on it showing it is an Artist Proof. Look and see if there are the letters "AP" stamped.

I already checked for an "AP" and it doesn't have one. It doesn't even have the zeros, just blank where there should be a number.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I would imagine someone on this board has the same pin. If you could post the pinpic # or a picture of the pin, someone here could check the back of theirs and see if it looks the same as yours. I would be more than happy to if I have the pin.

The back of the pins all look like the picture for Pin Pic #20189. The description for that pin says it is an AP pin but my understanding is that AP pins have "AP" stamped on the back and this one clearly does not.

Here are the Pins that I have that are missing the first number.

Pin Pic #12115 or set #2708 (Dopey) /7500
Pin Pic #22518 or set #19337 (The left Jiminy) /7500
Pin Pic #21814 or set #19337 (The bottom Jiminy) /7500
Pin Pic #32018 or set #24793 (Donald with wreath) /5000
Pin Pic #12114 or set #2708 (Cheshire Cat) /7500

I also have Pin Pic #30749 or set #19338 (Bottom Dopey) with the back stamped 2568/7500. So I am unsure why some have the first number and others don't. For Pin Pic #2708 it states that the pin number is located on the blue mat around the pin set.

Any ideas?

This could be the answer, from the description of #22518

This is an Artist Proof pin of Jiminy Cricket. It is from the Model Sheet Framed set (pp#19337). This particular pin is not individually numbered, but there is a space on the back of the pin where it should be. Back stamped "Disney" "Limited Edition" " /7500" "China"

So the APs for the pins in these sets are not individually numbered, but instead read " /7500"? That's how I understand it, but maybe it's just me.

According to Disney's Pin Trading site though, they state that AP pins have "AP" stamped on the back. I'm thinking that the person who posted this is assuming it is AP when it may not in fact be.
