Mrs Potato Head says a hearty good morning to all our Peeps on this gray, wet day in Stink-a-Stan. She wanted me to tell you all about our fun evening we had last night at:

The Russian circus.

:dance3:

Now before you go and get grand, fairy plum visions of dancing bears and Lipizzaner prancing horses let me just burst your bubble now. Ok. Now that you are thinking more of muted fun, we're on the same level.

This was a 5 man act; 3 men and 2 women. That's it. They sold the cheap plastic crap from China before the show, set up the stage props- AND were the act. That was my first clue that this was a small time deal. Lady #1 was a dancer, hula hoop hooper (which was by far my favorite act of hers), doggy trainer, parrot keeper, and helper to Mr. Amazing Feats Man.

Lady #2 was suspended hoop contortionist (sort of), helper to Mr. Amazing Feats Man, and a dancer.

Mr. Amazing Feats man was a glass walker, sword walker, dancer, magic trick maker, and prop dude.

The other 2 guys were the clowns who juggled (I admit I was pretty impressed with this!) did your requisite fart humor, (oops, now that I think about it, THIS was my favorite act of all, and thought of all of you, wishing you could be there to share these golden moments with me.), inuendo stuff, that I wish they'd have left out since my kids were there, and water gags.

There were also guest appearances from a huge snake that my daughter still brags about getting to touch- she thought that was the coolest thing ever-, a parrot, 2 dancing dogs, and a monkey. When the parrot flew over us, I was more than a little thankful that it didnt' poop on my head, and was disappointed at the monkey thing, as we've seen the real deal in Thailand. It's more fun to see them not a chain.

It wasn't a bad deal I think for $50 bucks for 4 front row seat tickets. We get to see one about once a year here, and we enjoy it every time. Small town stuff, yeah, but better than sitting at home. Plus it reminded me of the possibility that Cirque really is going to be a reality for the TC3 in Sept. maroo and I sat up til 3 in the morning the other night talking all about our trip. We got a bunch of scheduling stuff worked out, and GUESS what?! We're leaving a night open for this! Whooopee!!! :woohoo:

:cool1: Wohoo for Cirque. One of the shows are coming through here in March and my dh wants to go see it. He really likes the commercial for it as the announcer has the French accent and it reminds him of home. He is from Montreal and that is where Cirque started. Well sorry for the little speil there. Glad you had fun at the Circus. I forget to add that I like Mrs. Potato head and your calendar.

I love, love, love French!! I took 2 years in high school and although I can only understand a few words, I still love it! France itself, on the other hand... well... I think I can safely say, I'd like Montreal more.

I think I play with Travestite Potato Head more than my kids.

So did they sell beer, hotdogs, popcorn, or soda at your 'circus'?:scratchin:scratchin:joker:

I was just wondering.:confused3

No, everyone here drinks their vodka (it IS Russian, and we ARE in former Sov. Union) at home first, then comes to the circus to get cotton candy. Oh yeah, they did have popcorn too.

Hey I have a question for you. Do you remember a while back if I posted about Dinoland and how Chester & Hester's came about on any of our friends TR's? I wanted to show someone that story and I can't find it now. I tried the search but came up with nada.

Let me think... could it have been on GB's?? For some reason that rings a bell. I'll go back and check his a bit.

I like Montreal but some of the people really can be rude. I am glad that I have someone fluent in "their" French to go around with me. A lot of them can speak English but refuse to just to give people a hard time. Once we went to to the movies and a fight broke out in the seat next to me because the group of Jewish Montreallers(is that a word:confused3 there is a large Jewish pop. there) who were speaking English were "bothering" the French speaking peopleon the other side of them.:scared1: The French ones were yelling at the English ones and it was really just awful. We were in one of the best theaters in Montreal too.

I think I play with Travestite Potato Head more than my kids.

i don't think so.... but I'm not sure. LOL I'm going through mine page by page to see if I posted it on there. The search isn't helping me.:sad2:

I remember now.. I think it was somewhere on the theme parks and attractions thread? I hardly am ever over there these days (more entertainment here, and things often go nasty over there lately) but I do remember this one.

Searching can be soooooo frustrating- I know!

Maroo...glad to hear that Rachel doesn't have pneumonia, and sorry to hear that Ellie does. We'll keep them in our prayers. Glad you're getting the sickies out of the way though!

Hooray for Cirque! Or at least leaving a night open for it, lol. As for your Russian circus, believe it or not we get one somewhat similar that comes through here..more like 20 people total, but other than that the same kind of deal. They sell the souvenirs beforehand, then you see them performing, etc. I took Piper one yr, and we got up and left when they started whipping the elephant for not doing what they wanted it to.(which was an ooooooold elephant..I felt so bad for the poor thing.) At any rate, I'm glad you guys at least get some entertainment out there that doesn't involve your own planning/implementing!

Thanks, Amanda!

It was pretty fun, and I was impressed that they were being very gentle with the animals. Best of all, you're right, I saw the poster and decided on a whim to go grab some entertainment not involving anything but my presence.

I read an article recently that the Russian govt. is trying hard to entice it's performers back from Cirque as there's been a mass exit in the last years. I said to myself, yeah right, like the Russian circuses can come even CLOSE to the salary that Cirque probably pays. Gimme a break...

I'm a big fan of cheap entertainment, that sounds quite enjoyable!

And YAY for leaving a night open for Cirque.

Very happy to see that Rachel doesn't have pneumonia, sorry that Ellis does, hopefully the antibiotics work quickly!

It's interesting how something we wouldn't pay a cent for here is totally worth it where you are. Again, I love seeing things from a different perspective. It gives us here in the States NEW perspective.

Cirque is making it onto your maybe list!:thumbsup2

maroo,

Better sick now than on the trip! Hope it all clears up by then and there are no major surprises or setbacks.

Glad to hear that you had a good time at the circus. How different from what we would see here in the states. Getting to spend time with the family out is always great though.

Circus' or would it be circi?

...they give me the creeps. Always have...and clowns are scary.

I am sorta out of pocket all day.

Three things....

1. SARAH IS HOME! Totally a surprise and a bit of a long story. But she is home!

2. I now have bronchitis. I went to get a regular checkup today and it was actually found on blood work (high white count) and my chest was "rattling" - he did a chest xray because it sounded so bad. :confused3 I don't really feel all that sick - but have been running fever off and on for weeks, tired and have a headache. So hopefully that will take care of my funky fever.

Tonight I actually started feeling sick. So...I am so very thankful I went to get my regular doctor check up and that I have such an awesome doctor! He found it quick and 2 shots and 10 days of antibiotics - I should be well for Disney, too!

3. It SNOWED!!!!!! I know you folks in the north don't think that should be in all caps...but I was excited. It barely stuck to the ground...and it is just beautiful! Hopefully pictures tomorrow if it is still there when the sun comes up.

PS...I really, really want to go to Cirque! I think THIS is the trip for it, too!!

I'll try to get on in a bit to dialogue with ya'll (that's really growing on me , that ya'll), but my quilter girls are here, and I haven't even had my morning coffee- IT"S 11:30!!!!

Have a great evening all,

Liesa

How can it be that yet another month has passed us by?! Another month of anticipation, waiting, yearning... One more lunar period of wondering what delights and fun await us.

Each passing month brings us closer to our long pined-for trip, and to mark these special milestones we do a little self-promotion. Not in an arrogant, self-righteous manner mind you; rather in a light-hearted, fun sort of way- that of proclaiming for ourselves a higher military ranking. Afterall, you do remember this is a highly trained, well-run troop of ladies on a QUEST FOR FREEDOM!

If you will recall, we spent the last month being Sergeant Majors- the highest ranking of enltisted military personnel. Let me just tell you right now, we are so done with THAT! We want empowerment, I say!! This month we're being COMMISSIONED!!! That's right. This month we are officers!!! Better pay, better housing, and ACCESS TO THE OFFICER'S CLUB! Grey Goosies all around. Or Lapus if you prefer... (or Diet Coke if you'd rather be the designated tour guide)

I found the following decription of our new ranking quite appropriate! Take a look:

(Addressed as "Lieutenant")
A seasoned lieutenant with 18 to 24 months service. Leads more specialized weapons platoons and indirect fire computation centers. As a senior Lieutenant, they are often selected to be the Executive Officer of a company-sized unit (110 to 140 personnel).

First of all, it was almost exactly 18 months ago, that I approached the" no-longer" Soldier, Julie, and the "still going" Soldier, LeeAnn to accompany me on this Epic Quest. Not long after, I called up Mary, and so it began. A year and a half ago!

Secondly, it mentions "computation centers" . You may find it rather interesting that maroo and I spent many long hours this week talking over our schedule, and "computing" up a more nailed down itinerary. Excel is a great tool to hash out the details. But the definition also talks about "indirect fire". That my friends is reserved for the balcony- or for anyone who tries to cut in front of us while waiting for Spectro- in which case it will NOT be very "indirect fire" at all. It will be a blast from our most crafty Casey's weaponry array.

Specialized weapons? The TC3 is adding more ammo to our arsenal everyday. I ordered a few clothes from Penny's this week, Bekka is working on the bling, gifties have been cheerfully crafted, and financial backing has been added. We are becoming an army of skill and precision- and we're gonna look GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!
